dont mind me, just looking for a new void to scream into
this tweet hasn't left my mind once in the two years since it's been posted
Hello Everyone!
It's me, Noah from @endlessfearsfancast. After months of hinting, nudging, pushing and work, it's here! My secret podcast,
Cult Of One Thousand Eyes
But, sadly, I can't make my miracle come true without the help of you! People of tumblr! So I'll leave inquiries open at your leisure and will now start with the rules:
Auditions will be more specific, I feel as though I cannot be as leintent with this as WROTMI because for this to work I want it to be as I see fit. Don't worry, the audition process is still the same, but I'll be a little harsher so don't take it to heart
2. Auditions have reservations. For people who I see fit for the role, I will contact them personally, most of these being previous WROTMI cast members
3. 16+ Auditions are necessary for the safety and comfort of everyone involved.
4. You are not required to be in a studio, or professional, you jusr cant flake on me.
5. Let me know if you cannot audition or participate for any reason, its extremely disrespectful to leave no notice (imo)
Now I will list who I have unreserved, and what specifically I am looking for:
so a very long time ago, my dad worked with an arson investigator
this guy was often one of the first people on the scene following a suspected arson, once emergency services had done what they needed to do. at times, there were also civilians on the periphery. often, they were freaking out, and understandably so; their home or workplace had just, quite literally, gone up in smoke
this investigator wouldn’t try to calm them down. he wouldn’t comfort them or be a shoulder to cry on.
instead, he’d walk up to the person most visibly losing their shit, hand them a fire extinguisher, and say “hey, can you keep an eye out for any other fires, and if you see one, can you put it out with this?”
of course, there was no actual risk of another fire. he wouldn’t be on the scene investigating if there was even a chance that the fire wasn’t completely put out. but the bystander didn’t need to know that
because that person, without fail, would immediately pull it together, take the fire extinguisher, and stand guard. they were, at least temporarily, calm enough for this investigator to do this job
my dad has told me the parable of the fire extinguisher a hundred times, and i think about it a lot. i think about what it says about people and crises. i think about what it says about the grounding power of having a purpose. and i think about the importance of letting someone help me through something, even if that help is just going to be another casserole to throw into the freezer, because useless or not, that fire extinguisher might be the only thing holding them together
hey guys did you know there’s a new bears in trees song out tonight. new bears in trees song. in fact this is the last single on success is unlikely. new bears in trees song

i think "bedtime abolitionist" is an unserious pejorative and i think less of people who use it. it's bad that children's lives are so heavily regimented, actually, and it'd be good for them to have more autonomy in these matters.
but, yknow. ruthless criticism of all that exists unless it makes you look like a whiny child, or something.
I used to work extensively with kids and I am unironically a bedtime abolitionist.
Specifically at summer camp, I noticed that trying to enforce a bedtime would result in nights of me going cabin to cabin telling kids to be quiet repeatedly until 1-2AM. Then we would all be cranky and exhausted about it the whole week, and it made me come off like a controlling asshole to the kids cause...I was being a controlling asshole. And like, I was young enough to have really salient memories of having been a camper, so excited to talk to new friends that I didn't sleep - the kids had good reason to stay up!
So I figured out that I could, instead, lay out the first night that they could stay up as late as they wanted, and talk to their friends, as long as they were physically in bed with lights off. I would get a lot more sleep and was better able to function in the morning, and if a kid complained about being tired the next day, I would ask about how long they stayed up the previous night and let them connect the dots themselves. Inevitably, most kids would stay up really late the first night, and then they would self-regulate and get to sleep way quicker, because they were motivated to balance their own wants & needs instead of an adult breathing down their neck about an arbitrary externally-imposed sleep deadline.
I started extending this method to more things, trying to make sure my role was less Authority Figure and more resource for learning how to care for themselves. I went through college and found it was backed up by a lot of the research out there on parenting and teaching styles. Literally just respecting the autonomy of kids in my care and talking them through decisions instead of telling them what to do would make "behavioral issues" evaporate, and make both me and the kids happier. It helped even more when I started working with traumatized kids and teens in foster care after college. Sometimes a kid would even point out to me when a given rule in a workplace didn't make sense and I could give them an exception and/or go to my boss and try to get things changed. Often, arbitrary rules from higher-ups made things way more difficult for everyone.
Trying to explain this to authoritarian parents AND my worse bosses over the course of my childcare career was like pulling teeth.
Kids deeply crave autonomy and responsibility, and if you give them the former they will often gladly take up the latter, but you have to give them the chance to make their own choices and make non-life-threatening mistakes first. But to someone who views a kid as property, or even a well-intentioned perfectionist parent, the idea of giving a kid that autonomy is terrifying, so they try to make it sound absurd to justify maintaining control.
Anyway, yeah, bedtime abolition forever. The kids will do just fine without bedtime.
does anyone wanna hold hands until we feel a little braver

A really great example of the systemic nature of transphobia is the fact the US government is shutdown because it hates trans people and wants to make /us/ suffer, causing SNAP to be shut down as well, This makes EVERYONE suffer. Transphobia affects everyone
What's your source for the claim that it's transphobia? Everything I'm seeing says it's mostly due to disagreements on tariff policy and federal spending levels?
There are multiple articles that talk about government spending, part of problem is a "disagreement" over gender affirming care. It's not the only reason but it is a big huge reason.
Shutdown day is here, and there has been a lot of competing coverage on Republican priorities, Democrat's demands, and what shutdown politic
harry potter urls get blocked and people reblogging my shit with their harry potter ships in the tags get blocked and dumbasses who have shit bios like "marauders and drarry 4ever but I think jkr is a big meaner don't worry" you're getting blocked and I'm shoving you in a locker

As President Trump deploys ICE, Border Patrol, the National Guard and other forces to U.S. cities, here’s how to tell them apart — and what
(gift link)
My city is teaming with ICE. I don’t want to write too much about it online so I’m asking you to trust me.
In my city, the ICE agents are always in plainclothes-sunglasses and hoodies up. They arrive in unmarked cars and always as a surprise attack. It’s eerie and unsettling. Here is an example of the cars used by ICE agents on Friday. These cars were verified by community advocates.
If you are in Massachusetts and think you see ICE in your neighborhood, contact LUCE. They will send out US Citizens out into the community to verify reports. We all have to help each other because shit is dark.

With SNAP and WIC programs being paused until further notice, I wanted to share that TooGoodToGo is a great way to get bread, bakery items and even prepared foods for cheap. It was created to reduce food waste. As it’s grown, restaurants and stores continue to be added.

Boom. Magnus archives fanart.
Feel free to see if you can find all the manifestations of fear (admittedly I had to combine a couple together in order to keep the picture less busy, e.g. the dark + the spiral, or the vast + the extinction).
i am massively overdue for a very very good week where not a single bad thing happens and everything is easy
reblog to give prev a very good week where not a single bad thing happens and everything is easy
Also, one thing I think is important to note in the case of Disney and JK Rowling is that they have EXTREMELY lucrative merchandising. Someone enjoying a book by a problematic author, pirating it or renting it from the library, writing fanfiction and making fanworks is so different than the usual Harry Potter fan mindless Harry Potter merch collection. Different than buying the licensed board games and clothing and candy and continuous extended universe shit they’re dropping. It is a money pit and that money is going to someone who will use it to continue to attempt to further marginalize transgender people, among other things.
I must be honest, I was a Star Wars fan before Disney bought it. I was a Star Wars fan after Disney bought it. Then I slowly realized I could not keep being a Star Wars fan and buying book after book and action figure after action figure and giving this corporation more money to shell out horrible spinoffs created solely to sell more bullshit. I still love the original trilogy and the EU. I have the movies on DVD. I pirate things now if I want to read them but my love of the franchise has essentially evaporated at this point.
