I mean, as someone who as worked in a zoo, this is fairly true.

Obvious disclaimer that you shouldn't have wild animals as pets.

But like, cheetahs are the only large cats that keepers will do free contact with. Hell, even most small cats don't get free contact. (Because small cats can be VICIOUS. They'll have a baby pallas cat wearing thicker gloves than when handling an owl. Because small cats can just be vicious.)

Like I think the only other cat at our zoo where I've seen free contact with was servals? Because I know they've used servals in shows to demonstrate their natural jumping ability. But I know servals can sometimes have a mean temper as well. Meanwhile they'll do the cheetah run and afterwards put the mic by the cheetahs and it's just like an engine with them purring. It's fascinating to watch when the message in every other large animal is "no free contact because it's dangerous even when they're born in captivity".

Legit if any wild animal could be adapted to a pet it would be cheetahs lmao. Only problem is they can be skittish and very anxious and that's why they're often raised around dogs in zoos to gain confidence.

ok so this is another long shot but a few years ago there was a twitter post (in japanese i think?) that had measurememts for how to make this book stand thing out of cardboard that you could use to double up books and use up more space on shelves

back then i made a bunch of these but by now i lost the pic and dont know how to find the original post anymore

if it comes down to it i can just take one apart and get the measurements from there but i would be very grateful if anyone happens to have the original post or something similar??

don't mind how long it's been since i made this post, anyway i realized that i don't even need to take one apart to get the measurements when i can literally just unfold it and refold it /FACEPALM

so anyway here is the diagram for anyone else who is interested!!

this requires pretty big carboard pieces, if you have a really big box or something you can make it from one piece, but if you don't, you can also just make each of the pieces individually and then tape them together

and then in the end you put it together like this!!

and then when you make a bunch you can put them all next to each other and stack your books like crazy

It's the function of ser vs. estar

"to be a bother" is a definition, so it's ser

Truly the easiest way to explain it is - "How you feel and where you are, that is when you use estar"

estar is temporary conditions such as mood, location, it can be used for "looks" and appearance [as in ser espantoso/a is "to be terrifying" while estar espantoso/a comes out as "to look hideous" or "to look dreadful", or ser genial "to be amazing" vs estar genial "to look amazing"]... and estar is also used with progressive verb constructions which is not this

Because ser can be so many things specific things, it's easier to use process of elimination and say "it's not this, this, or this so it can't be estar"

In short - you use estar with:

Emotions (happy, sad, angry) and mood - describing your current state not what kind of person you are or your personality

Temporary conditions (tired, sick, stunned, unconscious)

Looks and appearance

Living or dead [estar vivo/a "to be alive", estar muerto/a "to be dead"]

Location

Progressive

If it helps with temporary conditions and emotions, you might think of "state of mind" for your mood, or current "status"... both "state" [estado] and "status" are related to estar in etymology.... so if you know video games, "poisoned", "burned", "asleep", "frozen", "stunned", "unconscious" etc. all would use estar as temporary conditions

*Note: Not to go on too much of a tangent, but progressive constructions with estar usually use the "-ing" form of a verb; -ando, -iendo, sometimes -yendo... estoy hablando "I am speaking", estoy comiendo "I am eating", estoy viviendo "I am living"... those are the forms for hablar, comer, and vivir.
