not using AI genuinely feels like the rest of the world is experiencing some kind of mass amnesia. if someone says they never use it, the immediate response is that can't be true because "everyone" uses it to write their emails or answer their questions. saw a comment suggesting that not using chatgpt to write an essay is "like the 90s". girl I graduated in 2021 and we weren't doing that! how is it that everyone has suddenly forgotten that they were entirely capable of doing these things all by themselves for their entire lives up until the past few years!! am I going crazy!!!
Modern things GoT houses would hate:
Arryns: drones
Baratheons: anger management
Lannisters: communism
Starks: global warming
Baelishs: Interpol
Targaryens: the Geneva Convention
Maekar in Lord Ashford's kitchen after dragging Aerion by the collar:
Inspired by one of the greatest tweets of all time.
Seeing how positive the reaction to Father Jud in Wake Up Dead Man has been confirms my belief that most people—even dyed in the wool atheists—desperately, desperately want Christians to live up to the ideals they profess.
That’s why I don’t take it personally or get offended when a person rails against Christianity. Their anger often comes from a place of profound, justified disappointment. And if a person can be disappointed, they’re still looking for good in this world. And if they’re looking for good, we’re looking for the same thing.
Also? The fact they set up a camera, or told someone to be on hand to film, means nothing that happens in that video is really spontaneous. Nothing they say or do in a fight or if their teenager "talks back" or whatever was unavoidable.
Worthy of a Rebellion

aww this is so cute! love the "his little fawn" tag <3<3
Maekar Targaryen, the Anvil, who is Half Dornish, the Prince of Summerhall (aka the symbol of Targaryen and Martell unity) and marries a Dornish woman, is not some Valyrian supremacist. Aerion is the anomaly in the family because he is Like That. Maekar fought *against* the Blackfyres who *were* Valyrian supremacists. This is such a bs narrative. He doesn’t betroth any of his children to each other either so he’s clearly not madly into the traditions.
Things I got called a heretic for today…. Saying we should help our neighbors.
It's heretical...to help neighbors?

People who say "bring back bullying" are bullies.
There are people wanting it back?? WTF IS WRONG WITH PEOPLE
I’m watching that documentary “Before Stonewall” about gay history pre-1969, and uncovered something which I think is interesting.
The documentary includes a brief clip of a 1954 televised newscast about the rise of homosexuality. The host of the program interviewed psychologists, a police officer, and one “known homosexual”. The “known homosexual” is 22 years old. He identifies himself as Curtis White, which is a pseudonym; his name is actually Dale Olson.
So I tracked down the newscast. According to what I can find, Dale Olson may have been the first gay man to appear openly on television and defend his sexual orientation. He explains that there’s nothing wrong with him mentally and he’s never been arrested. When asked whether he’d take a cure if it existed, he says no. When asked whether his family knows he’s gay, he says that they didn’t up until tonight, but he guesses they’re going to find out, and he’ll probably be fired from his job as well. So of course the host is like …why are you doing this interview then? and Dale Olson, cool as cucumber pie, says “I think that this way I can be a little useful to someone besides myself.”
1954. 22 years old. Balls of pure titanium.
Despite the pseudonym, Dale’s boss did indeed recognize him from the TV program, and he was promptly fired the next day. He wrote into ONE magazine six months later to reassure readers that he had gotten a new job at a higher salary.
Curious about what became of him, I looked into his life a little further. It turns out that he ultimately became a very successful publicity agent. He promoted the Rocky movies and Superman. Not only that, but get this: Dale represented Rock Hudson, and he was the person who convinced him to disclose that he had AIDS! He wrote the statement Rock read. And as we know, Rock Hudson’s disclosure had a very significant effect on the national conversation about AIDS in the U.S.
It appears that no one has made the connection between Dale Olson the publicity agent instrumental in the AIDS debate and Dale Olson the 22-year-old first openly gay man on TV. So I thought I’d make it. For Pride month, an unsung gay hero.
RATING: RELIABLE
you can listen to the clip of the 1954 interview here and find him on wikipedia here

the best fanfiction you've ever read was written by a woman in her 40s before she made dinner for her kids. it was written by a teenager after school when they should've been studying for a history test. and a barista came up with the idea while they cleaned the espresso machine and busser fact-checked it on their break and the post-doc edited between writing grant proposals and the nurse apologized for typos in the notes after a long shift and behind every drabble and one-shot and multi-chapter fic there is a person with a wonderful and interesting and chaotic life and it is such a privilege that we get to be apart of it because they decided to do this thing we all share, for fun.
