April 4, 2005: i thank You God for most this amazing, e.e. cummings
i thank You God for most this amazing e.e. cummings i thank You God for most this amazing day:for the leaping greenly spirits of trees and a blue true dream of sky;and for everything which is natural which is infinite which is yes (i who have died am alive again today, and this is the sun’s birthday;this is the birth day of life and of love and wings:and of the gay great happening illimitably earth) how should tasting touching hearing seeing breathing any–lifted from the no of allnothing–human merely being doubt unimaginable You? (now the ears of my ears awake and now the eyes of my eyes are opened)
== [Marie Howe (who we’ll definitely be getting to later) said, “Most poetry is some kind of prayer, even if it’s just crying out to the silences.” This is maybe my favorite collusion of prayer and poetry, outside of John Donne.
Everyone’s read cummings, and everyone’s probably read the same four cummings poems, but I love this one so much; there should be more poetry about pure unbridled joy. Like the rest of his poetry, this plays with syntax to make certain words and ideas stand out – which means it might require a couple of reads to get fully – and it’s lyrical enough to get stuck in my head on gorgeous mornings, all while being less twee than it seems like it should be. It makes me happy. And I love how the last couplet seems to play with Paul’s idea of heaven, the seeing dimly in a mirror vs. face-to-face.] MORE LIKE THIS: – since feeling is first, e.e. cummings – pity this busy monster, manunkind, by e.e. cummings – God’s World, by Edna St. Vincent Millay
im going to fix my entire life
When?
Like Um. later
I love that I can jerk off about guys now. That's just so neat!
Could you not before?
No, I was straight my whole life, I actually tried "bihacking" myself as a teen but while I succeeded in dispelling any aversion to m/m sexuality I ultimately had to accept I was just not into it. But in 2020 I caught Covid before vaccines existed, it spread to my brain and caused enough damage there that my existing personality was no longer viable, and after a period of depersonalization I generated a new one that is different in some major respects, including being bisexual.
Woke up this morning briefly desensitized to the language we use to describe time, and burst out laughing over an email saying there's a meeting at "2." That's literally just a number, not even a very big one. What’s next, cleaning the break room at “3"?
omg did you seriously invite the torturer 😐
using a pumice stone isn't very butch of you
i need you to know that this is already a top contender for funniest anon message of the year for me
work like a red onion
play like a white onion
fuck like a green onion
and what if I told you guys that virtually everyone you ever meet will turn out to be really interesting if you give them a chance
just found out that accidentally in love by counting crows was literally made for shrek. they didnt just choose it. it didnt exist before. they asked counting crows to make a song for shrek 2 and thats how we got one of the best songs ever made. insane.
Post Pom Poko feeling like David Suzuki in here. Aka depressed, nihilistic, and angry about the environment and our species as a whole. A movie made over 30 years ago and the same shit has only gotten worse today.
Watched this because I was reminded of it when closing all the downstairs windows so the raccoons would not be tempted to get in.
i saw this somewhere else but reply / tag what you did today so everyone can see that we all did something different today
