im trying to find a book i read as a teenager but I dont remember tons about it so if anyone recognise it please please please tell me

okay so it was about a woman called jack and she lived in a little cottage in England, use runes that kinda thing. there were cut back scenes to the 15th century that were kinda boring and teenage me mostly skimmed through (stupid 15 year old i was). also there was a love interest who had a cat and an ex wife but I dont remember his name. jack would have some kind of protection spell on the house and I remember them drawing runes a lot.

I have read the blurbs of all the Alice Hoffman and Deborah Harkness books and I dont think its any of them but def wanna try reading them. please tell me if you recognise this book
