hot take: excusing adopted sibling incest in pop culture because the characters aren’t “actually related” is problematic as hell because it perpetuates the idea that adopted kids aren’t part of the families that they’ve been adopted into
The thing about being LGBT+ is, at some point in your childhood, no matter how accepting your parents are, at some point, you have to question: “do they love me unconditionally?” And then you have to plan for the possibility hat the answer is no. And that fucks you up. Straight cis people never have to question that.
there’s really no “passing” when you’re nb, it’s more like “aiming for confusion”
i get top notch euphoria when people have to ask my gender
“I’m not here to speak, I’m sure as fuck not here to lecture anybody, but I will tell you what I have seen. And I have seen what happens when people organize, and I have seen what happens when the electorate and the citizenry know themselves and the sleeping dragon that they are, and I know what happens when they act and they act directly. I also know what happens when old pious men make laws about what women should and shouldn’t do. I know this ‘cause I’ve seen direct action from the very state that I hail from, the nation state which was created 100 years ago. And what I would say also, is just to remember where power lies and remind politicians where power lies, ‘cause the biggest thing they fear is losing their fucking jobs. And to men, also: just be wary of any mentality that would make cattle or make vessels of women, because that same mentality will make machines and tools of you, and make monsters of you. Just remember where power is, just remember what the electorate can do.”
Besides the trans exclusionary language (because I know several men who have gotten pregnant), this is so perfect 💜

THIS IS LITERALLY ASH KETCHUM’S ROOM IT IS THE SECOND SCENE OF SEASON 1 EPISODE 1 OF THE POKEMON ANIME FROM 1997 CAN FAKE NERD BOYS PLEASE GO
Also consider: sports fans.
Pokemon is like if sports and cats were blended into the ultimate all-consuming marketable thing
That’s… actually the best explanation of Pokémon I’ve ever seen.
I'm sad to see all the transphobic posts about name change laws, as if changing your name is anything other than keeping us safe from being outed. It's disgusting that some TERFs still deny trans people their rights and identities. One of the most oppressed groups in the country yet we are just human beings trying to live our lives. My identity has nothing to do with you. Stop policing queer people.
Out of the blue, there was you

Back in 2005, the Arthur spinoff Postcards from Buster garnered needless controversy over an episode where Buster visited a real-life lesbian couple and their family in Vermont. Despite not making direct reference to the LGBT community (”Boy, that’s a lot of moms!”), the US Secretary of Education at the time demanded PBS return all federal funding for the production of that episode, claiming that “many parents would not want their young children exposed to the lifestyles portrayed in this episode.” PBS complied and initially pulled the episode off most networks.
Flash-forward to 2019 and Arthur now has an episode where Mr. Ratburn, a longtime character in the series, has come out as gay and even gotten married.
