And BY THE WAY humans aren't monkeys on a biological scale. We are one of few species that have visible menstruation and concealed ovulation. I know some people were salty about Bilbo in the Hobbit movies not wearing the same thing that Ian Holm Bilbo is wearing in the prologue scene of Fellowship, and I hear you. That kind of attention to detail is always wonderful. And I know some people think the explanation that since the voice over is done by Galadriel, she probably just didn't know what he was wearing is a copout.
However...I do enjoy picturing everyone sitting around listening to Galadriel tell the story, and Bilbo starts tugging on Elrond's sleeve and whispering to him like
"Elrond...Elrond...that's not what I was wearing that day."
(being patient with the elderly) "It's okay, Bilbo."

I know the âsexy nunâ costume is normalized or whatever, but if you think about it for 0.5 seconds, you will realize that the whole point of it is to make a mockery of consent and respect. We have people whoâve made a public, lifelong commitment to a particular lifestyle and part of this lifestyle is them declaring (publicly, unquestionably, indefinitely) that sex is not part of their life goals.
If your response is to make an outfit mocking that choice, youâre telling me that you donât respect their autonomy. You donât recognize their ownership of their own sexuality. You donât believe in their right to be anything other than an object of someone elseâs desire.

Doing Better does not always mean never being upset or never being triggered or never having trouble. often Doing Better means experiencing those things and being able to keep going/cope healthily/move on. if youâre in a bubble with no sensation, if youâre numbing yourself out, thatâs not what recovering really is. it wonât help you have a happier life itâll just make your world smaller and smaller until you canât fit anywhere anymore. gotta learn to make peace with the hard stuff too, thatâs the only way to keep going
