Soulmark AU again

So in this AU, Dani was born to look 8 (I never understood why she looked 12 but whatever. Danny was 14 in this AU) and Damian arrived at Gotham when he was 10.

Dani traveled the world for around a year before she meet Damian when they were 9. Damian is with the League at that time

Obviously, they are soulmates. You can decide their mark.

As per League custom, any heir must kill or destroy any distractions.

And that includes Soulmates (because Ra’s is an ass)

So, Damian’s first solo mission, he has to track down his soulmate and kill her.

But when it was time, he couldn’t do it.

He let her go, telling her to never contact or try to find him, and he would do the same. Dani leave, very angry (Poor Baby bat didn’t think he had another option)

He burned the body of a dead deer, and told his mother that he scattered Danielle’s ashes in the river.

Years go by, Damian moves to Gotham, and never mentions Danielle to his family. He didn’t even tell them that he knew who they were. He was ashamed 9f what he tried to do. Even if he didn’t manage to succeed.

When they’re both 16-17, Damian comes across Danielle in Gotham (she doesn’t know he was there. She never tried to look for him)

And because she was left dry by her soulmate when she was 9, she’s kind of bitter.

So she leaves, but she told him he would have to deal with her presence because she and her older brother are in Gotham for the foreseeable future.

Damian sees this as a golden chance to get her forgiveness and gain her trust.

The only way for that to happen is if his family doesn’t meddle. The only ways that’ll happen is if they doing know.

So Damian never tells them.

Dani doesn’t tell Damian she’s a ghost, nor why she and Dante are in Gotham (GIW got a hold on Danny and he’s healing in the GZ)

Dani attends Gotham Academy with Valds money. And she and Damian share a couple of classes. Meanwhile, the GIW is in Gotham searching for the High Princess and High Prince. Siblings of the King.

Shenanigans include

-Damian and Jason becoming a regular at the bookstore Dani works at, but they come at different times.

-Steph and Cass are on a date when they run into Damian and Dani, also on a date. It quickly becomes a double date.

-Alfred and Clockwork are old friends and Alfred is either a ghost or extremely liminal.

-Titus and Cujo friendship.

-Wiggles the dragon. I recently found out he existed and live him already

-Bruce getting shot while on Patrol and the closest place was Dani’s and Dante’s apartment

-Peopel can sense when their soulmate is about to die/get extremely hurt. Dani senses Damian is in danger and kills(?) (at least gravely injured) his attacker

-Sam visiting Gotham and strangling the Joker with Undergrowth powers

BONUS!!

Each member of the Royal family needs their own Knight (typically their soulmate/lover of choosing. Sometimes not)

Dante decides to have Fright Knight as his Knight (as soulmates or friends you chose)

Danny has Sam and Tucker, so he’s extra safe.

Dani has Damian.

The reason this is funny is maybe there’s a trademark summoning scene and maybe the knight shows up with the royal member, or maybe they show up first to scout if it’s safe.

So there’s a summoning and Damian pops in the middle of the circle looking confused

If he didn’t know he was Dani’s knight, even better.

Marinette had been a menace all damn day.

From the moment she waltzed into the manor, she had been insufferable.

It started that morning, when she plopped onto the couch beside him, phone in one hand, a perfectly iced coffee in the other, and had the audacity to flick at the collar of his dress shirt.

“Do you ever unbutton this thing, Dami?” she teased, sing-songing his name with that knowing smirk that made his eye twitch. “You dress like a mafia boss at all times—ever heard of casual wear?”

“I am casual.”

She snorted, reaching up before he could stop her and undoing the first button herself. “There. Now you look a little less like a CEO and more like a person.”

He shoved her hand away, scowling. “Touch me again, Dupain-Cheng, and I will have Pennyworth feed you decaf.”

Her gasp of betrayal was nothing short of theatrical. “You wouldn’t.”

He would.

She narrowed her eyes, obviously plotting her revenge, and that should have been his first sign that the day would only go downhill from there.

By lunchtime, she was relentless.

When he was reading in the study? She flicked at his ear.

When he was training? She sauntered past, snagged a water bottle, and smirked. “Careful, Dami—if you furrow your brows any harder, they might get stuck like that.”

When he was working on an important file for Wayne Enterprises, she plopped down beside him and stole his pen, twirling it between her fingers as she hummed, unbothered.

And when he made the mistake of snapping, “Dupain-Cheng, I swear—”

She simply blinked at him, lashes fluttering as she held the pen out of reach.

“Make me.”

…He clenched his fists, counted to ten, and reminded himself that throwing his best friend out the window was frowned upon.

And then came dinner.

Wayne Enterprises was hosting a formal charity gala, and Marinette, of course, had been invited.

She looked breathtaking in a sleek black dress, her dark hair pinned up with a few loose strands framing her face—not that he was looking—but the problem was that she knew it.

“Careful, Angel,” he murmured when she linked her arm with his. “Wouldn’t want people getting the wrong idea.”

She gasped dramatically, pressing a hand to her heart. “The wrong idea? You mean the correct idea?”

He exhaled through his nose. “We’re friends.”

She batted her lashes. “For now.”

He chose to ignore that.

And then, of course, she flicked a damn pea at him.

It hit him square on the forehead, rolling onto his plate.

The room was full of important people—investors, politicians, Gotham’s elite. It was not the place to engage in a war.

But Marinette didn’t care.

When he slowly turned his head, she was smirking—arms crossed, one brow raised, waiting for his reaction.

“Oh, please,” she mused. “It was just a pea.”

He took a deep breath, forcing himself to remain composed.

That was the final straw.

Which is why, five minutes later, his palm now rested firmly on her thigh under the banquet table.

Her breath hitched. He smirked.

Finally. Silence.

"Something wrong, Angel?" His voice was smooth, unbothered, but the pressure of his hand against her skin said otherwise.

Marinette swallowed, shifting in her seat, but the movement only made things worse for her. His fingers flexed, inching up, dangerously close to where she definitely didn’t want him to be.

Scratch that. Where she shouldn’t want him to be.

“You—” she sucked in a breath, eyes narrowing at him, “—are insufferable.”

Damian leaned in, looking the picture of innocence to the outside world. “Pot, meet kettle.”

She tried to shove his hand away, but his grip only tightened, thumb brushing the hem of her dress. His touch was slow. Deliberate.

A warning.

“You were being a brat,” he murmured, lips a hair’s breadth from her ear, “so I had to remind you who’s in control here.”

Her face burned. “I’m not a brat.”

The barely-there squeeze of his fingers had her thighs clenching together, and his answering chuckle made her want to throw her champagne in his face.

“You sure about that, Angel?” His voice was a taunt, rich with amusement. “Because right now, I think you’d do just about anything to get me to move my hand.”

She turned her head slightly, lips ghosting over his jaw as she whispered, “Keep talking like that and I’ll make you regret it.”

His grin sharpened. Oh, he loved a challenge.

“Is that a threat?”

Marinette smirked, batting her lashes at him as she placed her hand over his… and slowly pushed it higher.

Damian’s breath caught—just for a fraction of a second—but she felt it.

Now it was her turn to smirk.

“Consider it a promise.”

His eyes darkened. And then—before she could react—his fingers dug into her thigh, a firm squeeze that sent a sharp jolt of heat up her spine.

She gasped, back going rigid, hands gripping the edge of the tablecloth.

The bastard chuckled. Low. Dark.

"Now, be a good girl," he murmured, lips grazing the shell of her ear, voice smooth as sin, "and maybe I'll give you a reward later on."

Marinette bit her lip, cursing herself for the way her body reacted to his words.

Because damn it, she really wanted that reward.

A Christmas Kiss

Thinking at the past 3 years, Marinette was shocked. She never thought she would have become the person, who saved Paris on a daily basis. Then she thought about how Chat Noir visited her every night to talk of his family problems, though he tried to kiss her and made very flirty comments, even though she would never say out loud, she missed them, and how upset she was when she found out about Adrien dating Kagami and she still members the conversation she had with Tikki.

"Hey Marinette! Why are you looking so sad all of a sudden?" asked Tikki with concern lacing her tone.

"Yeah Tikki, it's just that, I feel left out in things you know. Like when Alya and Nino along with Adrien and Kagami, go to Andre, for ice cream, and they just seem so happy when ever they get each other's color, meanwhile I, just stand there, hoping the world would swallow me in so that I could escape this situation," replied Marinette. Even though she liked Adrien's girlfriend, and they were now friends, she just couldn't help but notice the twinge of jealously when she sees them together.

"It'll be all over soon, Marinette," consoled Tikki.

Today was one such day. It was a week before New Year's so the group decided they would go to Andre to get some ice cream, after all he was famous for his ice cream match making.

They all went together on the bridge were the shop was situated, and patiently waited for their turn. As for the blue eyed girl, she silently slipped on her earphones, and listened to her music list.

In about 15 minutes, they were ready. The first were Alya and Nino.

"Okay so orange for her clothes and chocolate for her hair and eyes and just a tad bit of dark blueberry for the mole she has on her face," Andre said while putting together Nino's ice cream.

After 15 minutes

Everyone's ice cream match making was done, so it was Marinette's turn.

She stood awkwardly in front him, while he put together her ice cream, "Dark blueberry for his black hair, dark mint for his emerald green eyes and dark chocolate for the secrets he holds."

Marinette was confused, previously when she had visited him she had gotten different colors, that may or may not have closely resembled the blond model.

"Um Andre?" asked Marinette

"Yes, my dear?" replied the match maker.

"Well last time when I came here with my friends, 3 years ago, I got different colors. But today I got different colors. Why?"

"Well this is because your previous soulmate or your other half has himself changed his destiny, his soulmate so you can't really do anything about it," he replied as his eyes were fixed on Adrien and Kagami, who were laughing happily on something Marinette's almost look alike said.

Sometimes Marinette thought that Adrien only dated Kagami because she looked like her. But of course that was a lie it self Adrian liked, no scratch that loved Kagami because she was smart, funny, amazing and further more, she knew what it is like to be confined in a place for a lifetime.

Marinette sighed. She was certain now that here ex -soulmate was Adrien.

Where could I have gone wrong, she questioned her self.

As if the world was feeling her distress, a pale boy of around her age came, black hair and emerald green eyes. Those eyes reminded her of someone.

Why is it that all of my soulmates have green eyes, she asked herself again.

"Damain! You came!" Andre giggled like a school girl being invited to a party by her crush.

"Of course I came, Uncle Andre," replied the boy, who Marinette now knows as Damain.

"Oh where are my manners? Marinette this is my nephew, Damain. Damain this is Marinette, the only girl who recognizes my hard work in making ice creams," said Andre, fully knowing that his nephew and the bluenette are soulmates.

It was the first time Damain noticed Marinette. The emerald green eyes met with blue sapphires.

"Hey Uncle Andre, can you also make me an ice cream?" he asked, never taking his eyes off the beauty in front of him.

"Oops! Sorry no can do, I am closing up for today. My wife said she has a special surprise for me back home, I wonder what is it."

Noticing that Damain is still staring at Marinette, he replied, "Don't be sad dear nephew. You can always, share ice cream with lovely miss Marinette here. Sure she wouldn't mind. Right Marinette?"

"Ye-yeah, the-there i-is no way I ca-can ea-eat all of it," stuttered Marinette.

Damn that stutter. Why did I had to stutter in front of him. He might think that I am freak now, Marinette internally whined.

But he did something, she never thought of, he chuckled.

"Sorry, it's just you remind me of one of my friends," Damain apologized.

They sat together on a bench, and started eating silently.

Damain was the first one to break the silence.

"Is it okay if we both listen to music on your phone, after putting your earphones?"

Marinette just nodded, afraid she would stutter again and gave him one earphones and put on in her year.

When they reached the end of the ice cream, a romantic song came up.

Oh how Marinette thought she would be with Adrien this year and missed her chance with Chat Noir who loved her Heroine form so much.

And how Damain thought that Raven was the one, but was heart broken when found out she was dating Beast Boy. I found you then I lost you, looking back is torture And it hurts to know I let you go, you live right around the corner

It was torture for both of them, knowing that their crushes were friends with them. And I could've had it all, could've had it all

Only if Marinette would've accepted being Chat Noir's girlfriend. Only if Damain would've asked Raven out earlier, they could've had it all. True love, I know I had it True love was so hard to find True love, if I could get it back I'd never let it go this time

This time I am not letting go the person I love, they both thought.

Now their lips were millimeters apart. Damain made the first move and bend in to kiss her.

She tastes like strawberries.

He tastes like mint.

They both pulled apart, and stared at each other.

"Soulmate," they both whispered and put their heads together.
