taken from this list here and given to me on discord. Did something a little dif not so much Lancaster??? But it ft their son and his pop-pop taiyang
Taiyang walks down the sidewalk, whistling a tune. Many people pass him by, going about their own day and life. The snow that has fallen from a few days prior and still coats much of the area has changed from a bright, pure white color to an ashy grey color. Some of the magic of winter has faded, especially now that the holidays have come and gone. Yet, there is still one thing to look forward to.
Besides the older, greying blond man, is his young grandson. The boy with messy, dark red hair and sapphire blue eyes, will have a birthday soon. The big one-oh. It is still a couple days away but Tai figured to take the boy out for some fun. After all, having two younger sisters and his closest cousins, and Tai’s other grandchildren, all are girls, some guy time is nice for Garnet. Just him and his Pop-Pop.
Grandfather and grandson have recently left a small diner, having their fill of burgers and fries. Tai even allowed Garnet to have his fill on sweets and soda from the desert menu. Part of him hopes he doesn’t go bouncing off the walls, he will have to deal with that mostly as Garnet will not return to his mother and father until later tonight, but it made the boy happy. That is all that matters really.
As they walk, something catches Tai’s eyes. He looks down and sees Garnet burying his face in the collar of his maroon jacket, trying to hold back a shiver. The tips of his nose, ears, and the skin of his cheeks have flushed as the heat leaves those parts to keep others warm. Reaching up, the older man pulls off his own golden, wool scarf off his neck. Without breaking his stride, he wraps it around his grandson’s neck.
“Pop-pop!” Garnet protests as the warm fabric is tightened around him. “What are you doin’?”
“Keeping you warm,” Tai informs him.
“I can tell you are trying not to shiver and your face is all red. I don’t need it.” That is a bit of a lie. Sometimes he wishes he had his eldest daughter’s internal heat source, but alas, he does not. Yet, he has been on plenty of missions in his youth that sent him to high mountain tops where the snow never melts. He can deal with the nip on his skin for a while.
When Garnet mumbles something else, Tai finishes wrapping the scarf before saying, “You are my favorite grandson. I have to keep you warm.”
“I’m your only grandson.”
Tai catches a glint in his blue eyes and the corners of his mouth sticking out from where they hide behind the scarf. The older man reaches up and ruffles up his hair, making the natural wild hair messier. “All the more reason to do so! Hey, I think the movie theater is around the corner. You want to go pick something out? You’re choice, kiddo.”
When Garnet nods the two pick up their pace to see what there is...and to seek warmth.
