John : I’m not gay!
Sherlock : *exists*
John :
DO NOT think of:
Sherlock and/or John putting Rosie to bed upstairs.
And Sherlock sitting on the end of her bed, tucking a curl behind her ear because it was getting in her face as John reads her favourite book, sat in the chair adjacent.
But Rosie is still restless so Sherlock hums to her instead, going over nursery rhymes and eventually slipping into humming Bach melodies.
And John recognises it; Sherlock plays it on violin from the living room when John can’t sleep.
Both their hearts melt as Rosies eyes flutter closed, her breath evening and her hand falling limp over Sherlocks.
And although he won’t admit it, Sherlock feels proud that he managed to lull dear Watson to sleep.
And when Sherlock goes back downstairs, John tailing behind, John halts him on the landing, his hand resting on Sherlocks shoulder.
“I’m proud of you,” He whispers, “you should be too.”
And as each second passes, Sherlock can feel a new cocoon in his stomach open to release wild, uncontrollable butterflies.
Johnlock Imagine
Asexual Sherlock at uni, in a relationship with victor who always tries to force sexual situations on him, but sherlock stays bc he thinks he has no one else (also maybe drug dependency). But then he meets John (who of course thinks he’s brilliant) and they have the ep1 scene but with sherlocks asexuality (”which would be fine by the way”...”I know its fine”) and slowly become friends and start to feel things for one another, John always respects Sherlocks asexuality and wants to be with him
John: *taking an early morning wiz*
Sherlock: *snatches back the shower curtain*
John: *heart attack* what the bloody absolute hell are you doing?... why are holding a vase?
Sherlock: I couldn't find a jug.
John: that is obviously not the point I'm asking about.
Sherlock: *dead eye contact* I need your urine.
John: *throws sherlock out the bathroom*
Sherlock: but john! I need to make gunpowder mrs hudson was sleeping. John!
John: *finally comes out the bathroom*
Sherlock: *still standing there ready with the vase*
"If I could go back in time, I’d still choose you" with JohnLock
John sighed. He never should have let Sherlock make a speech at their wedding. He’d never get over the embarrassment. "Can I just say one thing, and bring this to a close," John asked, rising from his seat. Sherlock, much to John's surprise, remained quiet so he could speak. "I just want to say that if I could go back in time, I’d still choose you." Sherlock smiled, and so did John.
For anon
i know it's been years but...
what if mrs hudson gave the same speech to john that she did to sherlock? what if she told him about her and her best friend, how they promised to always be there for each other, how the marriage wouldn't change anything, how best friends meant for life
what if he didn't really consider it, because sherlock and he had been through so much, surely they'd be fine? immunity was surely theirs, right?
what if when sherlock finishes up the violin solo, john finishes dancing with mary and they've all found out she's pregnant, and then they've slipped back off onto the dance floor, he casts a look back and he can't see sherlock.
he's a bit panicked, but he quietly excuses himself and goes to look for him. he wants to know, wants to prove to himself and mrs hudson and the world that it's not happening again, history isn't repeating itself - he and sherlock haven't fallen apart already
but he can't find him.
he looks everywhere, even eventually caves and asks around, only getting solemn shrugs and tilted heads, mouths uttering 'i haven't seen him'
that's when john knows: they're not the same.
he knows they're not the same people they were before sherlock took the fall, off of bart's, to protect those he cared for most. they aren't those men, the two men without cares, two best friends, two somethings, because now he's gone, and john can't just call him back. it doesn't work that way.
mrs hudson was right. they just don't work like that anymore; everything has just changed, and john doesn't think it's for the better.
some part of him wonders if sherlock would have rather died from the fall, or like this.
(fore)headcanon
When John and Sherlock played that silly game at the stag night, the one with stickers on the foreheads, it's quite obvious they had to stick those little pieces of paper to each other. Of course they had because in any other way Sherlock would peek.
Imagine clumsy John brushing Shelock's curls out of his forehead and rambling "I don't mind" when Sherlock is shamelessly gazing at him when he does. And of course John extending the moment and leaning toward a bit.
Then he rests his chin on his palm, his glazy eyes literally smiling at Sherlock, and he waits for his turn. For Sherlock to touch him. Just for a second.
Sherlock takes his piece of paper and carefully (as he thinks) sticks it to the skin. John's eyes are closed now. He seems relaxed, with eyes closed, but he's not asleep. And Sherlock is almost ready to risk it all. It's his last chance to change something without really ruining anything. Last chance. What if? And what if not? Would it save John, or wreck him? Sherlock tries to think about it, but he also thinks about John's soft lips, clearly visible, exposed, very close to his own. And about John's aftershave - the same scent since they met.
But no, Sherlock reminds himself, the decision has been already made.
By John.
imagine Sherlock’s reaction after John tells him he loves him too:
