why the universe probably isn't shaped like a donut or saturdays: an introduction
My mother has a torn meniscus and everytime she brings it up, four jews starts playing in my head
the comeback is always stronger than the setback 🚲🤍
finally back outdoor biking after over a year! spoke to my doctor last week for my 1 year post surgery appointment and he said my knee seems healed (although it still feels a little swollen and sore…) and has said I can now run, squat and best of all BIKE!!!!! I can’t bike up or downhill, just on flat surfaces, and for 3 days a week for 1 hour per time, but it’s better than nothing! Hopefully this will help my knee with its recovery and will help me rebuild my quad muscle and will mean I’m finally on the way back to normal 💪🏻
this was such a huge deal for me today, it’s no secret the past year with my injury and surgery and recovery has been tough and I’ve had some very dark days and moments where it felt like it’d never get better, so this was just amazing 🥺🙏🏻
I ran outside for the first time since surgery. It was chilly and started raining on me, but I loved it. I ran just over a mile and a half, clocking my first mile back on the streets at 9:06
It felt like I would never make it back to this day. It's been entertaining to see the right hip bursitis has complained more than my newly rebuilt knee. The dedicated PT has brought me back and now I find the other parts of me lazily snapping to attention after atrophying for so long. I have to practice my breathing and syncing with my steps. As soon as I was cleared to push I started doubling my distances... it's not like it was, but things are starting to feel familiar... it feels really great to get back to me
I’m so happy. It probably wasn’t the smartest choice, but I played tonight!
I was gonna try and get my knee good enough so I could play next weekend. All of a sudden I decided I HAD to do it tonight. So I did!
I somehow managed to play with a completely severed acl and pcl as well as a torn mcl and meniscus. I didn’t even use the most restrictive brace so that I could have more movement.
I was able to run, defend, go into tackles and come out with the ball, and take solid shots. Definitely not as good as I am healthy, but it felt amazing to play. To do SOMETHING!
It really reencouraged me for the rest of my recovery and coming out on the otherside.
so i’m like,,,getting surgery on tuesday, this is really scary, but at least the problem is getting fixed
Operation fix Geoff's knee is about to begin.
So, long story short, I’ve been living with a torn meniscus in my left knee for the past year. My orthopedist has no plans to help me, so I’m needing to take the care of it into my own hands. I’m needing some new stuff to deal with this and I’ve added it to my wishlist if anyone can/wants to help me out. As a reminder, no one is under any obligation to do so.
