Imagine experiencing 10-20 hurricanes a year, that's what the Philippines goes through every single year, and has been going through for the past few decades I've been alive.
A typhoon is just a hurricane but in the Pacific. And the Philippines has at least one supertyphoon a year; a hurricane on steroids.
Right now the Philippines is experiencing two typhoons in a row. You literally can't see land from satellite images, and mind you the Philippines is large enough to blanket multiple European countries.
If you see any resources to send aid or donate to the Philippines, it's needed now more than ever.
Cebu and Negros and southern Philippines were hit hard by the previous supertyphoon Tino, with Cebu still reeling from an earthquake right before. The current supertyphoon Uwan is hitting the north, including metro Manila.
Some trusted aid groups include Angat Buhay, which you can follow on social media for updates.
Here are some ways to donate:
Angat Pinas, Inc. (Angat Buhay) is a recognized member of the Association of Foundations (AF), a network of NGOs focused on developing susta
It's somewhat difficult to bridge the usual donation links between North America and Europe and the Philippines, so if you see people you know collecting donations for their community on PayPal or Ko-Fi try to donate through them.
$1 USD = 50-60 PHP, which is enough to buy a single meal, so every dollar goes a very long way! Even if you only donate $5 that could help an entire family!
Here's an international link for Red Cross!
