Can we talk about Mr Krabs?

I might be in the minority when I say that:

I DON’T HATE MR. KRABS.

Like sure I can’t deny that he’s done some pretty shoddy stuff especially in 6-8, but he actually has some good moments even in the dark age here and there:

In A Pal for Gary, Krabs lets SpongeBob go home to Gary when SpongeBob feels bad he leaves him home all day, (as long as SpongeBob comes back tomorrow five hours early to help Mr Krabs clean the parking lot) and lets Gary help at the Krusty Krab (for free labour lol)

In Yours, Mine and Mine, he scolds both SpongeBob and Patrick for letting the Patty Pal wreck their friendship and gives them both a Patty Pal ($13.50 each). And at the beginning, he originally made the Patty Pal to satisfy Patrick complaining the Krabby Meal didn’t have a toy and was gonna pay with SpongeBobs money.

In The Splinter, Mr Krabs is the one who saves the day, not being mad with SpongeBob with his injury or sending him home, and instead just removes the splinter (Krabs does get covered in pus but he doesn’t seem to care).

In Stuck in the Wringer, he rightfully scolds SpongeBob for the damage he caused and tells him not to come back until the wringer is gone.

Interesting that in four of the worst episodes in the show, Krabs is the most level headed and in character….

I also think Friend or Foe was decent for Krabs’ backstory, but it makes One Course Meal look even worse in retrospect if Krabs and Plankton used to be friends.

That’s the problem with Mr Krabs: I don’t think the writers know what to do with him, except be obsessed with money. This was as late as s2 in Squid on Strike.

Which sucks so much! Because Krabs has so much story potential!

- Explore him fighting in the Navy and the war and the ‘deep endless depression’ that came from it, according to Krusty Krab Training Video.

- Showcase how he met Pearls mom.

- Answer why does he love money so much?

- What made him start the Krusty Krab to begin with?

- How did he meet Squidward? What was Krabs and Squidward’s relationship like before SpongeBob came?

FOR GODS SAKE WRITERS MR KRABS HAS SO MUCH POTENTIAL AND ITS NEVER TOUCHED ON. 

TLDR: Mr. Krabs is slept on by the narrative and it sucks.

The Character 9-1-1 Let Slip Away (And Why I’d Trade Him Back in a Heartbeat)

EDIT: I admit I wrote this two weeks ago and that my opinion of Ravi is changing slightly. That said, I stand by what I said about Albert and am posting the article anyway.

Sometimes, “They Deserved Better” isn’t just about a storyline.

It’s about a character.

A character who had everything: pot

ential, emotional depth, connections — and yet somehow got lost along the way.

Today, I want to talk about one of those characters in 9-1-1.

Because if there’s one name that perfectly fits this category, for me, it’s Albert Han.

Albert Han: The Potential That Was Actually There

Let’s start from the beginning.

Albert Han enters the show in Season 3, becomes more prominent in Season 4, appears as a recurring character afterward… and then disappears.

And that still doesn’t make sense to me.

From the moment he showed up, Albert felt like a character with a clear direction.

His story wasn’t random.

It was layered.

He was the younger half-brother of Howard "Chimney" Han, someone who had grown up without a real relationship with Chim, yet actively chose to build one.

And that alone already gave him something important:

emotional purpose.

Then came his decision to become a firefighter — inspired by Chim, just like Chim had once been inspired by Kevin.

That parallel?

Beautiful.

That kind of narrative symmetry is exactly what makes a character feel like they belong in a story.

Integration Matters — And Albert Had It

Albert didn’t just exist in Chim’s orbit.

He integrated.

He built relationships.

He connected with the group.

His dynamic with Evan "Buck" Buckley is one of the clearest examples.

It wasn’t forced.

It wasn’t superficial.

It felt natural.

He even lived with Buck for a while, creating that sense of found family that 9-1-1 does so well.

And when Buck was struck by lightning?

Albert was there.

Present. Worried. Invested.

That’s what makes a character matter.

And Then There’s Ravi…

Now, this is where my take might get a little controversial.

Because this isn’t about the actor.

This is strictly about the character.

Ravi Panikkar has been in the show since Season 4.

And yet…

What do we really know about him?

A childhood illness.

A few scattered traumatic moments.

And that’s pretty much it.

There’s no real backstory development.

No consistent emotional arc.

No real layering.

And that’s strange — because 9-1-1 is a show that usually excels at giving its characters depth.

Even side characters often get full emotional exploration.

But Ravi?

He’s remained, for the most part, a background presence.

When a Character Feels Like Filler

The problem isn’t that Ravi exists.

The problem is how he’s used.

Too often, he feels like a character who’s there to fill space.

To complete a scene.

To add a line.

To be “the extra person in the room.”

Even his more dramatic moments — the traumas, the struggles — feel isolated.

They don’t build into something bigger.

They don’t shape a long-term journey.

And now, it feels like the show is trying to give him relevance by pairing him with May.

Not because it makes sense.

But because:

He’s single.

She’s single.

And that’s… convenient.

But that’s not how you build meaningful characters.

Albert vs. Ravi: A Missed Opportunity

This is where my biggest frustration comes in.

Because Albert was already there.

Already developed.

Already integrated.

Already connected to the emotional core of the show.

And yet he was written out — partly due to external circumstances, yes — but in a way that never truly closed the door.

He didn’t die.

He didn’t disappear permanently.

He left.

Which means he could come back.

And honestly?

He should.

Because Albert had something Ravi still doesn’t:

a solid emotional foundation.

The Story That Could Have Been

I’ll go even further.

Back then, I actually saw potential for Albert and May Grant.

Not as an instant romance.

But as a slow build.

Friendship first.

Connection.

Growth.

They were close in age, both navigating their own paths, both tied to the 118 in different ways.

It could have been something meaningful.

Something organic.

Instead, we’re now watching dynamics that feel rushed, surface-level, and ultimately forgettable.

The Core Issue: Writing, Not Actors

I want to be very clear about something.

This is not about disliking actors.

This is about writing.

Because sometimes, characters fail not because they’re bad…

But because they’re never truly given the chance to exist.

Albert was given that chance — and proved it worked.

Ravi wasn’t — and still hasn’t.

The Trade I’d Make Instantly

If I had the choice?

I wouldn’t hesitate.

I’d trade Ravi for Albert in a heartbeat.

Because one of them had a future in the story.

And the other still feels like he’s trying to find a place in it.

Why am I so mad at Gege and the jjk narrative?

Because I felt like I was robbed when I finished the Shibuya arc and realized what happened in it a month later. I had even read the manga to see what happened, and it disgusted me even more. Like, I am not even mad that characters died, I am mad at the HOW and WHY they died. And there's also another thing I can't stand anymore.

1) YUJI ITADORI

He's the main protagonist, right? Do you know what the main protagonist does and should do? Meet the villains. Did Yuji meet them? No. Or at least, 80% of the actual villains and not the random ahh sorcerers in the culling games...

For example, the disaster curses. Yuji didn't even get to actually know them, he only met TWO. And instead of all four, he met Hanami only once in the whole animanga. Mahito was the one Yuji met more times...

Like, you have amazing villains with deep meanings and a protagonist with a heart of gold that if he actually got to know them, he would even understand why they did what they did.

2) How Dagon was treated

You know if you read my post how much I fucking hate Gege for making that fight, and it's not because he died, but because HE WASTED A WHOLE DAMN CHARACTER TO HYPE UP THE ONLY CHARACTER WHO WASN'T EVEN SUPPOSED TO BE THERE IN THE FIRST PLACE. And why wasn't he supposed to be there? Because he already completed his whole arc and his whole narrative objective: start everything that will eventually become the jjk we all know: a fucking massacre. If you still don't know who I'm talking about, it's the potential man's father, aka the fan favorite which all the girls melt and drool for and the bros love but always forget he fucking murdered a girl for money due to his six pack.

Like, seeing all the bullshit that happened made me lose completely interest in the narrative and story.

Even because there's something so wrong with the disaster curses' deaths: They died and they left NOTHING in the world... Let's not count Yuji and Sukuna which are the only characters who still remember the ones they got to meet. The disaster curses died for nothing, left nothing and no one except the two characters I said above and maybe some other guy that I might not remember. Plus, the people who met those disasters might even have forgot them because of all the shit that happens.

When a character dies, it should leave something for the other characters, it should make the characters who meet them GROW.

The only ones who actually left a meaningful mark in JJK were maybe Nanami or Geto, but when it comes to the villains? Absolute zero.

Like, look at CSM for example. The characters who died there left their mark on their world. They died horrible deaths, but those deaths made the main characters grow and changed the story forever. In JJK, Dagon and Hanami are just erased, their deep motivations completely ignored just to give a cool fighting scene to characters who didn't even need it.

And don't even get me started on the magic system explanations. Gege will waste entire chapters reading like a boring math textbook to explain basic stuff like Blood Manipulation. But when it comes to Dagon? Dagon literally summons a fully functioning, Lovecraftian biological ECOSYSTEM inside a magical barrier... and it gets zero depth or explanation. Gege gives us a God of the Abyss capable of making a tropical dimension, but refuses to explore its potential because he’s too busy jerking off Toji's basic "I punch hard" physical stats.

Look at JoJo or Chainsaw Man: they show you a bizarre, god-tier power, you understand the horrific cost, and it works perfectly. JJK explains the boring stuff and wastes the cosmic stuff.

And THAT is why I am writing my fanfiction. I am refusing to let characters with this much potential be forgotten. I'm giving them a world where their emotions matter, where their bonds mean something, and where a beautiful, misunderstood Abyssal God gets the love, the respect, and the epic story he was robbed of.

An older youngling the lucked her way through order 66 to later join the inquisitions and work her way up so she can grow strong enough to end the monster that killed her family

Not realising until her death that she had become what she worked to destroy

She should have been a great character with an amazing arc but it was all ruined by having her in the kenobi show and not an inquisitors show
