two spirit is not a "native version" of anything
its not a "native version of nonbinary" or a "native version of bigender"
thats not what it means, that’s not what it’s ever meant
two spirit is an pan-tribal term coined by indigenous people in 1990, for indigenous people, to replace the term berdache, an offensive term that white settlers applied to indigenous people that fell outside of the western lens of gender and sexuality
two spirit isnt a "native version of nonbinary" because two spirit doesnt inherently mean someone is nonbinary. some of us are, but so many two spirited people arent. many people in our community also choose specifically not to label themselves with terms like nonbinary, gay, bisexual, etc, and solely use two spirit or another term from their tribe or language
we can be anything and everything and nothing you've ever imagined
to say its a "native version of nonbinary" is not just inaccurate, it's a complete erasure of a massive part of our community
i have a suggestion
if this doesnt come true this year i may lose my mind
ohhhh shit. target is recalling their up & up baby wipes (fragrance free & fresh cucumber scented) because they're contaminated with Burkholderia cepacia complex and Burkholderia gladioli, multiple people are reporting discoloration & infections. i just got a call about it cuz i had purchased those but i've already gone through them 😅 so no refund for me. but im fine. if you have these they're saying you need to immediately stop using them and bring them back to target for a full refund. this bacteria can cause life threatening infections in children/infants and people with compromises immune systems (ESPECIALLY cystic fibrosis!!) and i know lots of other chronically ill people follow me!!!!
Hold on i should've been more specific.
First: THIS RECALL IS NOT STATE SPECIFIC. IT IS NATIONWIDE.
here are the specific products and dates:
FDA page on this:
Target is voluntarily recalling Up & Up Fragrance Free and Up & Up Fresh Cucumber Scented Baby Wipes following customer complaints of produc
If you use baby wipes go check them NOW. A lot of Burkholderia bugs are antibiotic resistant so infections can be really difficult to treat.
this kills me EVERY. TIME. I WATCH IT.

Accidentally refreshed my dash before I could reblog the post I wanted to reblog, but it's legitimately funny how many "walkable cities bad" talking points are just 1) assuming that "walkable" means "CARS ARE BANNED FOREVER AND EVER NOBODY IS ALLOWED TO EVER USE A CAR" and 2) then going "and how do you plan to deal with [problem that only exists due to infrastructure that prioritizes cars] without cars????"
Like "and when you go grocery shopping how do you plan to carry 8 bags full of groceries home without using a car?". Well turns out that "going to the store every 2 weeks to buy 8 bags full of groceries which you have to carry home in one trip" is not like. a universal feature of grocery shopping. The act of grocery shopping doesn't usually take that form unless you live in a place where the nearest grocery store is a 45-minute drive away.
I don't even live in a particularly walkable city but I have a couple grocery stores close enough that my grocery shopping mostly takes the form of "popping in to buy a handful of things on my way home a couple times a week"
I used to walk to and from a grocery store two miles away weekly for groceries back when I was a young adult and I’d literally just bring a cart/wagon thing. This was very doable and I’d often buy several drink cartons, big bags of potatoes, and other assorted heavy things. So even in walkable cities you can do big grocery hauls
Would you feel comfortable talking to your father about your mental health if you ever needed to?
Yes, because I know I can trust him to support me
Yes, although I'm not sure how he would respond
No, but not because of him, it's because I don't feel able to talk about it
No, because even though he would try, I don't think he would understand
No, because he wouldn't show much interest or would be too busy to listen
No, because he wouldn't care at all
I'm not in contact with him any more (e.g. we fell out permanently)
I've never met him or don't know him (e.g. adopted/fostered as a baby)
He's unwell and unable to support me (e.g. dementia, mental illness, etc.)
My father passed away

idk but when i discover new books and music i’m just excited to be alive again. yes a bit dramatic but that’s how i feel when i discover them
Also applies to "AI" "artists" and "musicians."
“The LEGO Movie was my favorite movie of 2014, but it strikes me that the main character was male, because I feel like in our current culture, he HAD to be. The whole point of Emmett is that he’s the most boring average person in the world. It’s impossible to imagine a female character playing that role, because according to our pop culture, if she’s female she’s already SOMEthing, because she’s not male. The baseline is male. The average person is male. You can see this all over but it’s weirdly prevalent in children’s entertainment. Why are almost all of the muppets dudes, except for Miss Piggy, who’s a parody of femininity? Why do all of the Despicable Me minions, genderless blobs, have boy names? I love the story (which I read on Wikipedia) that when the director of The Brave Little Toaster cast a woman to play the toaster, one of the guys on the crew was so mad he stormed out of the room. Because he thought the toaster was a man. A TOASTER. The character is a toaster. I try to think about that when writing new characters— is there anything inherently gendered about what this character is doing? Or is it a toaster?”
— Bojack Horseman creator Raphael Bob-Waksberg commenting on how weird gendered defaults in entertainment are, and why we should think twice about them. Excerpted from this longer original post. (via 360degreesasthecrowflies)
It's pride month so I'll allow myself to express one opinion on the internet :
There are no "exact color" of pride flags.
I see more and more sites and posts talking about the exact hex codes for the lesbian flag, or the right purple for the ace one, and how it should be more or less saturated and I just want to say: pride flags were meant to be sewn in your kitchen. To be spraypainted and to be recognised.
There are no "exact colors" of pride flags because you should do them with what you have ! Nobody should care if you use a crimson red instead of a cherry red or whatever ! Be free ! wave your colors ! The colors you have !
Someone got on the bus, sat right in front of me and started smoking
i know folks are gonna call me a pedo for this one, but i grew up seeing my mom and grandma naked. they had health issues and at times needed care and help showering. and i truly think more kids need to be shown the nonsexual reality of naked women at a young age. there is nothing sexual about my grandmothers breasts, they were simply body parts. more women die of heart attacks because people are too afraid of breasts to do real chest compressions, because they are scared to touch their breasts. the sexualization of our bodies literally kills us. i need people to be more normal about naked bodies and i'm 100% serious.
It’s insane to me that breasts are considered so inappropriate and sexual for children to see when they spend the first several months of their life sucking on them for nourishment
no i am not immune to early 2000s pop-punk music that fucks a little harder than everyone likes to admit
