the worst part about cardio is the laundry
“ancient Greeks exercised naked for spiritual or sexual reasons” no they exercised naked because they didn’t own automatic washing machines
Every time you go in a public place and something ISN’T disgusting it’s because somebody cleaned it. Every time you feel comfortable using a public bathroom or sitting at a restaurant table or setting something on a gas station counter or playing on a playground it’s because somebody cleaned it.
Thank you to everyone who cleans the world, especially those who are underpaid and under appreciated.
“everyone is mad at me and they just won’t tell me” —> “no one has said anything about being mad at me and i haven’t done anything to warrant being mad at so if someone is silently fuming about me and not saying anything that’s their problem and actually quite weird of them and i can effortlessly move on with my life”
this took SUCH a huge deal of unlearning because, like so many of you, i came out of a home where being quietly in trouble WAS the default state, and i DID grow up not just with the assumption but borderline religious conviction that Everyone Is Mad At Me, I Am Bad, I Must Exist In A Constant State of Attempting to Pacify The Natural Rage I Inspire In Everyone. and no it actually turns out that my family are the freaks . and yours are too
“this isn’t true because i DEFINITELY silently fume at people in the hopes they’ll figure out what they did and apologize” that’s not good. you shouldn’t do that
“this isn’t true because the ex-friendship that traumatized me ended explosively after they were mad at me and never told me why” that’s not good. they shouldn’t be doing that
“i don’t think this is true because my current friend group is constantly icing me out until i figure out what ive done to upset them and properly apologized without being told” hey thats not good. they should not be doing that
if the peacefulness of your relationship with someone (familial, romantic, friendly, anything) can be destroyed by effective communication/asking them for effective communication, you have got to get out of there. if you can’t get out of there, you’ve got to throw away any ideas about what that person thinks of you because they have their own shit to figure out before they can accurately read anyone else
delivery gone wrong
Something I see getting overlooked a lot when discussing queercoding in historical media is that in many cases it's not evidence that the writers secretly shipped it; it was aimed at straight dudes specifically to freak them out. Depicting a male villain as sexually interested in a male hero reads as horror to the cishet male audience. Like, Venom didn't spend years and years being blatantly characterised as Spider-Man's creepy stalker ex because Marvel's writers were all closeted yaoi fans. That was meant to be scary – which of course doesn't mean you can't read it differently, but don't give them credit they don't deserve!
The world has irrevocably changed 😃
The person who told the cops about her abortion was her boyfriend btw. For your safety, do not sleep with or date men who would not defend your rights. There is no "we don't talk politics" or "we just agree to disagree" when his disagreement is your loss of freedom. Stop dating men who would turn you in for a nickel if you hurt their feelings.
When she showed up at the police station, they thought she was coming to "explain herself." She was coming to report the boyfriend who'd reported her held a gun to her head for taking the pills.
Fuck Flock cameras. Fuck police who do this shit. Fuck the survelliance state.
Alternate timeline in which all Greek and Latin roots are swapped:

The reason most indie novels are written like the author is terrified of doing something wrong is because the overwhelming majority of indie novelists get their start by networking in the violent panopticon of the social media indie publishing community, which favours the people who are able to win at the social policing game.
Okay so this comment got me googling because I hadn't heard of Isabel Fall
And if you also hadn't heard of her go read this because uhh... Holy Shit
I had heard of the whole messed up situation with this story, but I hadn't ever read the synopsis of the story before, and WOW
This story sounds like it could have been a brilliant exploration of gender and warfare and violence but instead it was attacked by people who didn't know how to confront a story that made them uncomfortable, and the author faced horrible consequences.
It's so important to be able to deal with stories that give you uncomfortable feelings in other ways than just attacking it. Being shown new perspectives sometimes has feelings of discomfort because it's an unfamiliar way of seeing the world.

can't believe the only options are 30 minutes early or 10 minutes late. if only there were some other way. but what can you do
My mom has told me about this video multiple times. It seems to define parenting for her. I get it now.

If you have a job that specifies your working hours (for example you work 9-5 or 40 hours per week)—on an average day, how much of your working hours do you spend actually doing your tasks?
I even have to work overtime
I'm at 100% capacity, I have to work basically every minute of it
I can take some short breaks (~10-15 minutes) but not more
I can afford to slack off a little bit
I only work at around 50% capacity
I work even less than half of my working hours
I basically have nothing to do all day
no job with fixed working hours / results
they're making me take lessons after I drove innovatively. written portion. easy.
I get to the yes/no section and see the question "was char aznable right." I shake my head. that trick isn't going to work this time. I look down to the next question. "was char aznable correct"
