I can't possibly put anything written here any better than how you've put it. But I have a few cents I'd like to toss into the pot.
This applies to *both* sides of the Rosemary dynamic. I'd even argue that it's more Rose that parallels Jade in this scenario, because we get to see a lot more of how Kanaya initially viewed Rose in the comic proper.
She had full access to Rose's walkthrough, to the beta kids's (almost) entire timeline via Trollian, and therefore had many clearly conceived notions about the kids.
One of them in particular.
And from the beginning, Kanaya objectified Rose. Saw her as an ideal. Projected all her hopes and dreams onto her.
Rosemary was always unhealthy. It was always a dynamic between two girls who loved the concepts of each other more than they loved each other, and who through their stubborn refusal to give up on their ideals persisted with a dynamic that very well could have (and perhaps still may) destroyed them both.

This directly says that Kanaya is not feeling ash, or pale, or flushed. I'm willing to say she's not even pitch right now. (For blackrom, after all, does require some level of kindness on the part of both parties, to prevent, y'know, Murder from happening.)
OP, I disagree. Rosemary is not vacillating. Rosemary is no longer Rosemary. Rose and Kanaya's feelings have been shattered.
And that shattering will make Kanaya even less likely to hesitate from killing Rose, given the opportunity.
God only knows if the pieces will lie where they fell.
And, as for Rose's attitude?
Who else does that sound like to you?
Who else pulls passive-aggressive manipulation out of thin air as easily as breathing?
Who else is known for these gestures?
Who else would sacrifice everything for power, for knowledge, even at the expense of their own well-being?
I've said in the past how a Rose Strider kidswap, in which Rose is raised by Bro, would turn out. She would be a nightmare. She would rise to the challenge, and she would do so with the utmost glee. She would rise to the challenge, and she would break the ceiling. Bro would live in fear of her. The student would surpass the master, in viciousness if nothing else. Rose would kill Bro, in the end, without so much as hesitating. Rose would dispatch Bro in the same way that Kylo Ren dispatched Han, wringing the last shred of hope from the father-figure just to watch his face contort. Imagine Rose without qualms, without morals, without meaningful relationships of any caliber. Imagine Rosebot.
Imagine the hell that she will rain down on Dirk in time.
Imagine the true antagonist.
Imagine someone hounded by knowledge eventually deciding that she wants no more of it.
Candy!Rose is a homeopathic dilution of how monstrous Rose will become.
No, Kanaya. The Rose that you thought was in there was never the true Rose at all.
Good luck coming to that conclusion.
