There is somewhat an understanding in “society” that the female body is made to withstand rape. Many believe that because vaginas can naturally lubricate, that it’s “not that bad” when women are raped. Whilst men can’t lubricate, so it’s seen as more “brutal”.

People also believe that it’s worse for men because male victims get humiliated. As if women aren’t made to feel humiliated for being raped. “Asking” questions that heavily imply that she was asking for it. i believe a lot of people also hold the subconscious opinion that women secretly “want it”. from what i’ve seen, the rape of males by males is taken more seriously than the rape of males by females (socially at least, i don’t currently know the data on a legal basis) - and both of those are taken more seriously than the rape of women by men. this is just speculation, but i believe that people take men sexually assaulting straight men more seriously because there is a clear view in their eyes that they didn’t “want it”; something that they seem unable to comprehend when regarding women.
