It’s cleaning time again only instead of using just the faucet I decided to try the shower head instead. I left him like this for 20 mins while I cleaned out and scrubbed his cage.
I feel like Africa is playing in his head

obsessed with the way the snake hobbyist community will freak out over a color morph because of how rare it is but when you actually look at the snake they’re cooing over it’s the ugliest thing you’ve ever seen in your life
all animals are beautiful or wherever but I don’t care how rare this morph is… this snake looks like a tube of dirty meat
lots of people in the notes are like “aw but it’s kinda cute OP”
of course it’s kinda cute, it’s a snake—it’s just that people are going apeshit and spending thousands of dollars importing and linebreeding to attempt to create a snake that looks like rancid sausage when wild type California kingsnakes are already some of the most gorgeous reptiles on the planet and some of their more common morphs look like THIS:

Hey. LIVING COSTS MONEY! How about giving more money to the companies that employ me and MAYBE I MIGHT BE OK
This is such a funny thing to me because in Thai culture, it’s completely normal to live with your parents when you’re an adult. In fact, most people live in their family home until they’re married ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Saaaame in Pakistan dude and being abroad for grad school is really fucking me up I am not built to be even slightly independent 😂
In Western culture (including America!) it was completely normal for people to live with their parents in adulthood–sometimes until they married, sometimes longer. In America, that changed (for men) in the 1940s and 50s, when it was really really easy for an 18 year old to get a good job that paid more than enough to live a comfortable life on, or to afford college which would then practically guarantee you an even better-paying job. Women joined the trend of moving out at 18 in the 1960s and 70s.
And now those jobs don’t exist, or are few and far between, and guess what! People are living with their parents again. But that 70-year span was just long enough that it fell out of common memory, and now people are seen as “failures” because the economics have changed.
A very great deal of Western culture, ESPECIALLY America, is actually still based on a memory of the 40′s and 50′s as the baseline of normalcy despite them being a total fluke at the time. World War II and McCarthyism created a massive shift towards rabid patriotism, Christian fundamentalism and the ideal of the “nuclear family” that resembled nothing before it and we’re still recovering from as the majority of our most powerful politicians are old enough that this period of sudden fanaticism is their “nostalgic good old days” and the way they think things are “supposed to be.”
I love when these posts randomly become tiny history lessons, it soothes me

Concept: a monster-of-the-week show where every member of the core cast is a clown of some description in their day job – like, one of them is a mime, another works birthday parties, a third is a member of a commedia dell’arte troupe, and so forth – and the monsters they hunt are all evil clowns. Like, exclusively evil clowns. The show’s narrative framing and promotions play it up like it’s a completely serious “in order to hunt monsters one must become a monster” thing, but in the actual show their motivation mostly boils down to being offended that these asshole monsters are Doing Clowning Wrong.
The dramatic lead just beating the shit out of a demonic jester with a juggling pin like “clowns are supposed to bring joy what the fuck is wrong with you”.
a quick question about the show: does the main cast fight monsters while wearing their full clown makeup, or are they like normal people who are also clowns and the evil clowns are constantly baffled to find the oddly attractive group of 20-something’s fighting them can juggle, squeeze into tiny cars, and have encyclopedic knowledge of clown props and history?
They’d wear their civilian clothes while on the hunt, obviously. There are specific rules about what activities a professional clown is allowed to don the makeup for, and monster hunting isn’t on the list!
The kid will cherish this for their whole life. If they remember it.
i feel like this thing where people are going stir-crazy and want something to do less than a week after being explicitly ordered to stay home under threat of disease and death kind of blows a hole in that “if we give people universal basic income everybody will just be lazy and won’t want to work” talking point
The number of artists, writers and musicians dumping output for free to cheer us up is right there in the “people will do productive things because the things need to be done” department.
