People like to do this thing on atheist posts where they talk about how atheists still ought to talk to religious people and make friends with them and study their religions instead of avoiding people who don’t share their beliefs and I just… have to wonder what world those people are living in? Religious people are the majority of the world. There are only a handful of countries with an irreligious majority. Most of us can’t avoid religious people even if we wanted to.

And meanwhile, religious people form their communities entirely with people of their particular sect of their religion and no one ever says the same thing to them. Some religions don’t even allow interfaith families but people don’t go on their posts to encourage them to be more open minded and accepting. Why are we held to a higher standard of accepting others?

If you pay your credit card on time and never have to deal with interest or late fees, your credit card company will start offering you cards with much higher limits, sometimes as much as 10x your current limit. You gotta remember that even if that's fine for a lot of people, those offers are specifically designed to be traps, not rewards. Credit card companies do not like "deadbeats", people who pay off their card in full and on time, because they make the vast majority of their money off of interest and fees. They want to increase your limit so that you get careless and spend more than you can actually afford.

It is extremely easy to fall into credit card debt, especially if you get comfortable. Getting a higher limit can help improve your credit score but going into debt because of that limit will tank it anyway, so just be careful.

The best advice on credit cards I ever got came from my college personal finance professor who was also a financial advisor to upper middle class people:

Get a credit card with whatever limit you want. The higher one is better, like the post mentioned, but ultimately the limit is irrelevant to the advice.

The ONLY things you ever put on your card are things you can afford to cover outright right this second. Not at your next paycheck, not if you skip your fancy coffee next week, right now. Groceries, coffee, gas, etc.

Pick a few of these things to put on your card. Not every grocery trip or every gas fill up, but 1-3. Maybe a grocery trip and two coffees. Two gas fill ups and lunch with a friend. Etc.

Before your pay day comes (a few days before), pay off your debt in full.

Continue doing this to build credit and not dig yourself into debt.

Crucially, you NEVER want to put more on the card than you KNOW you can pay off, even in extenuating circumstances. If putting your groceries on your card is going to be impossible to pay back if you lose your job tomorrow, then groceries should not go on your card — pick something smaller. It's always better to charge and pay off $10 than charge and not pay off $80+.
