I promise it’s simple but you need consistency. 1. If you want to be “toned” or lean you must have some form of effective resistance training in your regimen. The more muscle you have the more calories you naturally burn. When it comes to cardio remember that the harder you work during the time of training the more calories your body will be burning afterwards. For example, walking for one hour, jogging for 30, or doing sprint intervals for 20 minutes… which do you think is gonna have your metabolism spiked even when the work is done? The sprint interval training, you burn more calories in a shorter time and you can not sustain a sprint as long as you can sustain a walk or moderate job. I will get into the science of this later on to help y’all better understand this. 2. Track your food because what gets measured gets accounted for. You don’t have to obsess about it but at least start with having an idea of how much/what you are consuming. 3. Water is gold, if more than 70% of our bodies and muscles are made of water why shouldn’t it be a priority to achieve any fitness goal? Water also helps you feel fuller, sometimes you are not even hungry, you are thirsty without even knowing it! Take a look at your urine, if it is not clear you may need to drink more water. Lastly, you need energy to move but if you are dehydrated you are most likely fatigued 🤷🏽♂️ 4. For me, this is most important to achieve success in anything… DISCIPLINE! You gotta remember your why, especially in the times when you feel tempted to sacrifice what you are working hard for to please others or to temporarily please yourself. No one can do it for you… in the great words of @mikerashid “my reps won’t make you buff”. In this game, you have to put your own work in.
