Exercises for all the homies who want to have a long career drawing.

The true problem with being an artist and drawing all day (as I wanted my whole life) is that human backs are not designed to hold that position, so it is very common for artists and designers to have really stiff shoulder blades, creating a chain of muscle strain towards the arm AND the back… and a lot of pain.

These are some physical exercises for artists and honestly anyone who works at a desk.

Friendly reminder that GIMP does pretty much everything Photoshop does, and it’s 100% free. Fuck DRM and the license culture, we have plenty of open source options available to us as a consumer.

Lightworks is a freeware video editor on par with Premiere

Blender is an excellent freeware 3D renderer,possibly better than After Effects

Lightzone to replace Lightroom

Inkscape to replace Illustratr

Audacity to replace Audition (I also received a free version of Pro Tools with my Scarlett Solo audio interface)

If Adobe is going to be greedy shitheads, then fuck ‘em. Don’t use their stuff. Freeware can be just as good, if not better, than Adobe CC.

I will keep saying this: GIMP sucks butts.

- Medibang Paint and Fire Alpaca for more cartoon style illustration

- Krita for painting

- Clip Studio Paint (not free, but often on sale and cheap even at full price) is better than PS for art and I’m about to cut adobe entirely. Even does some photo editing.

- Paint Tool SAI (again, not free but cheap) old but good, there’s a ton of hacked copies around too. Not hard to get for free.

- Open Tunez for animation.

I’m currently using Affinity Photo and it’s a great Photoshop alternative. One time fee only and it’s not really expensive, plus supports PSD formats. Free trial available too! Davinci Resolve for video editing is amazing as well! :)

Does your last name sound anything like Lopez, Martinez, or Rodriguez? Mine does. When I saw this post I checked my voter registration status online with my state. Despite registering just three months ago, I was no longer registered to vote, and I did not receive my ballot. If you live in a mail-in voting state and you didn’t get your ballot, contact your county election official/county clerk for a replacement.

Make sure you check with your state’s voting site as well. I just had the shit scared out of me because that website said I was registered, but when I checked my state’s site (and made sure I had the right county selected) it said I was registered.

It’s worth checking your state’s site every few months anyway (especially when any election is coming up).

Texas is definitely purging voters. They’re also making it harder to re-register if they purged you. I hate that this is true, but POC will need to check and check frequently to stay registered in Texas.

College students, too. In the 2014 election, I had to vote in San Marcos, and I can’t tell you how many Texas State students were turned away because they didn’t cross all the t’s and dot all the i’s on getting their registration transferred and current.

i use a site called TurboVote run by a nonprofit that sends me reminders based on where im registered to vote before every election. it sends me an email to remind me to check my registration, to apply for absentee ballots, etc. it’s helpful so that you can check if you’ve been purged regularly (and participate in the local races that never get any publicity); https://turbovote.org/

Say hi to Team Red.  Yes that is their name and this is basically how it happened.  Figured if I was going to do some short comics it would be nice to know the rest of the crew. 

Shamash (pronounced: Sha-MOSH): the unofficial leader (at least in Red’s eyes).  He claims to have a low Intelligence score yet somehow is still the most sensible out of the group.  Just don’t ask him to use big words.  He is also an excellent baker. 

Ran (yes the names do get confusing): Shamash’s partner in crime who always has his endless flask of booze on hand.  A skilled monk with a mysterious past, he does his best to remain distant from the group emotionally, but gives excellent head scratches (so says Red). 

Zalt: always on the lookout for greater knowledge, he is the quietest of the group but also quite possibly the most powerful.  He managed to nearly take down an entire horde of zombies with a simple campfire and a very narrow hallway. 

Merrick: the jaded cleric.  Most of his past was spent faking his faith for corrupt churches then stealing all their ill-gotten “donations.”  He wears a symbol of practically every known faith around his neck just in case.  He was probably the most suspicious of Red before his true origins came to light.

So… I just found out that my Tapper illustration has been stolen AND modified for a large scale mural at a popular gaming-themed restaurant called Burger Bits in Santo André, Brazil. I’ve tried contacting the place and its manager, but have yet to get a response. It seems last year I was not very active drawing wise.  Towards the second half of the year my drawing fizz out and I had a lot of stuff coming at me at once, thus my time to draw and motivation was almost nil. Normally I don’t say much as I do these memes but I think this time I will talk a bit about each art ! have for each month.

               For this give away art they showed me their Final Fantasy 14 character. They wanted a portrait.  As an added bonus I saw she had a Tengu in her reference so I added the little guy in the picture too.

   It was round this time when I started to slow down in drawing and pick up Dungeons and Dragons again. I play in 4 games now ^^.  Two in person and two online.  My Kiera here is very naïve young lady growing up in a rich merchant house.  I had drawn her before but I never drawn her by herself.

               As an art/writing challenge the community of Drowtales took it upon themselves to make a their city within the universe.  I made my own clan the Val’Har’Oldrin.   He is the leader of the military  that in the clan.  Did not know what kind of hair to put on him and I just said he looks good bald.

August- I don’t know what happen in August but the only thing I did was making a few designs for my lonely art channel.  My avatar was being the only real art from that time XD.

September and October- These two pictures are pictures I am still work in progress as I am trying to design my group player characters. Once the two group pictures are done I will post the finish picture here.  I just wanted to show you what I have already.

November-  One of the reasons I did not get finish with them was because I got really sick for a week in October.  Then with my day job having all these activies back to back and I was volunteering and a lot of doctor visits, the month of November went pass me in a blink without me drawing a thing.  Not even a sketch on paper.
