LBH: Teacher, I am here for you!
SQQ (thinking): wait, I'm in an R-rated setting! I can swear for real!
SQQ: oh SONOFA-
...does this mean current!SQQ is the cracky gwenpoolesque reboot version of the originally Not Funny sqq from the first run?
so SQQ /actively/ has that to compare himself against and he just keeps going Oh Fuck No (except he can't say fuck out loud, or in a thought bubble, bc he's g-rated)
also does this mean NYY is also A Protagonist
as in she also has the in-universe halo? like the Harmless Vibes are actually due to /her/ being around
and the universe is contractually obligated to be g-rated around NYY
and LBH (who was def not originally from kids' media) makes the reasonable assumption that actually it's the Harmless Villain who is responsible for the Harmlessness of being in this version of reality.
bc said villain is a massive nerd who exposits about essay-writing and neat science facts (especially animal facts) in between "evil plots"
such as "mua ha ha I'm going to replace all the vending machine food with VEGETABLES"
or "nyeh heh heh I've made a giant city-destroying robot that can only be defeated with the power of MATH SKILLS"
or even "ha ha HA you shall never defeat my JELLO CREATURES- wait, what, what do you mean they melt in the sun- oh, sugar-"
and yes, he's absolutely ridiculous. an entire ham. a diva, if you will. he's also showing levels of in-universe knowledge that would /absolutely/ make him very much a real threat, in any less kiddie-safe setting. dude pulls time travel (for history lessons) and shrinking tech (journey into the cell) and gravity manipulation (let's learn about the planets) and all he does with it is... *gestures at the Plot of the Week* poetry lessons!
and LBH is supposed to believe that he's actually harmless? no. no. clearly SQQ is deliberately and consciously choosing to be as egregiously non-threatening and deliberately Not Dangerous as possible, to the point that his plans never even mildly endanger civilians! annoy yes, inconvenience sure, but hurt? never. this concerningly competent so-called "villain" is one of the genuinely kindest, sweetest, most unscary people in all of LBH's experienced reality.
...and they live in comics-land, where 'how gay can this get' is decided entirely by the writers and the current S&P they're working within.
LBH: him
NYY: hm?
LBH: ...him.
NYY: hmm?
LBH: him <3
NYY: hm!!!
...and then, of course, Gritty 90s Antihero (New, More Fun Edition) Luo Binghe does what characters do and makes his own decision.
cue SQQ desperately trying to game the system with his genre awareness, while consistently fucking up everything directly related to LBH bc he's basing his knowledge off of /original/ Luo Binghe, who... is very much not who he's dealing with here. oops.
