For some of us, it’s a dreaded time of year...

..when consumerism goes bonkers and stores exploit our pure love for someone in an attempt rinse money from us. Or otherwise, make us feel lonely, bitter and like we want to avoid the entire social scene as to not be reminded of our singledom. It’s time we celebrated #galentines style- single or taken. Last year, we were lucky enough to celebrate galentines on Gili T, soaking in rays and backpack-budget-cocktailing with some pretty awesome folk.

Ok- we love a happy couple. Do. Your. Thing. You might still be holding out for the one that’ll make you give up odd socks for good. But it will not leave us in the crease of the sofa with ice cream on the 14th Feb. This year- pool your gang together and celebrate your freedom, we all need a little more #GIRLPOWER! Paint the town RED, order ALL the pornstar martinis, have a gathering and play prosecco pong at home with your favourite tunes, generally - ENJOY YOURSELF and have some fun.. Spoil yourself and reward yourself for being apologetically you. Most of all - don’t be fooled in to thinking you have to spend money! Cheer up a close friend suffering ‘valsdayblues’ with a cheap, cheerful + quirky postcard from Paperchase (because words are priceless!) and get ready to party on the hottest night of the year... Ready to blare Beyonce?!

Think future Festival. Here’s our guide to the summers beauty + accessory trends to WOW ..

Festival season will soon be here gals.. we fancied creating something to bring some wild thoughts & light upon you! For many of our lovelies, it’s already in full swing so we are getting lots of inspo from the other side of the globe, from style gurus and our fav bloggers. Generally, glitter reigns strong. As do layers of glam bohemian Jewels. But there’s some important new twists this year and things we didn’t see on the horizon.... Yeahhh, it’s not all about looks but geeee isn’t it fun having an excuse to dress like mermaids! Start with the basics - it’s too chilly to think outfits just yet - besides not all of us are lucky to be splendour, coachella or burning man headed... so it’s all about working with nature and accessorizing around the weather we are blessed with! ....

Beauty + hair Inspo

We’ve pulled together a list of boho beauty + sparkling spacey accessory looks no matter the amount layers beneath (IT’S ALL IN THE DEETS!) These forecasted, growing trends will mean you’re well ahead, and can well and truly step away from the been there done that visions. So. Time to think future. Envision glittery armpits, extreme lilac mermaid highlighter, electric under eye liner, metallic freckles, glitter CONTOUR, glitter mascara, holographic hair, bio-digradable petals + flower embellishment (on your nips instead of glitter tits)... We want to give this a mention- use eco-friendly glitter (cause y’know the turtles aren’t big on it being in their diet..) What else is going to be a hit festival look? Think hidden messages on your lids, emoji stickers, pearl embellishment- nope- not just for your denim anymore.

Hats, specs + all the rest

Right! Accessories. It’s of course about stacking up toooo the max. Here’s your essentials : Baker boy or beret, western buckle belts or coin bellychain, vintage head (+ neck) scarf or turban, an eclectic mix of gold gemstone and silver star lined chokers (wanderdusk.com), 70′s specks, statement celestial earrings or bigger is better hoops (bc if we see ANOTHER tassel pair..), fishnets, of course a chain bralette or even a super jangly statement head piece! (n have you seen our festival collection?!)

Extra things to consider. Feather boas make for an epic insta feed. They’re probably alright to cuddle in your tent too. Fringed bags will never go out of style. Snag a vintage one off that’ll last a life from a local charity shop or DEPOP. Oh- don’t forget a bum bag!

Our girl Mika Francis giving us all the feels with one of our fave ever (timeless) lil travel movies here in India a few years back now! (Adorned in our sell out concho choker, just so ya’know... she’s a fan!) “Solo travel is one of the most powerful things you can do for yourself. Speaking from the perspective of someone who has suffered with anxiety amongst other mental health issues, I can tell you honestly and confidently that it would be the most positive, self assuring thing you will ever do. Overcoming anxiety is something that has changed my present life to the point where I feel like a completely different person! It made me realise that I was capable of enduring much more than I gave myself credit for. It was the first time I'd been truly self-reliant. With no home comforts or family around for me to lean on, I had to dig deep and deal with my problems in different ways, which often meant tackling the situation head on. It was either find away around the problem or be stuck at a stand still. Anxiety suddenly became an irrelevant issue, for once I knew what I was capable of, I only began pushing myself further! If what you're worried about is being alone, I can tell you now, that will be the least of your problems. Making friends on the road is as easy as "hi!". In the 3 months I travelled around South East Asia, not once did I feel alone. I would even make friends whilst sitting in the airport waiting for my gate to open. It's not hard to spot someone who's backpacking, and given that 90% of the travellers I met were going it alone, everyone is in the same boat and is just as grateful for your companionship as you are for theirs.”

If you ever find yourself in the south of Bali, this hidden gem is the place to visit! A bit of a trek through winding pathways and steep stairs down the cliffs, the views and vibes are rewarding. Bingin Beach, Bali, is a surfers paradise and where I experienced my first Bali sunset with an amazing seafood barbecue and cool cocktails. From there I caught a boat to Gili Trawangan, where I truly feel a part of me belongs. Sitting on the wanderlands swing, I've never felt so at peace. Just shopping for some silver rings and saw you were asking for travel hotspots - had to share these with you, the most beautiful places I've ever been. Anna x
