(june 6 2021) muna and mohammed el-kurd have been fearlessly raising awareness around the brutalisation and occupation of palestine. they have been instrumental in the current push for a free palestine and in building momentum for the cause. they have shared with us day in and day out, at the expense of their own safety and throughout sleepless nights, the horrors of the occupation. muna’s arrest and and the active search for mohammed who as of 8:50 AM GMT is still in hiding, are attempts at stopping information sharing around palestine and more specifically sheikh jarrah and silwan, one day after marathon runners were beaten and gassed during their run from sheikh jarrah to silwan for daring to run in their ancestral city, one day after a correspondent for al jazeera was captured by israeli forces and released but banned from reporting on the neighborhood for 6 days, ONE DAY after Muna filmed a soldier taking orders from a settler to show exactly who to arrest. the VERY least we can do is raise hell to show that we won’t suffer the brutalisation of journalists and activists. our governments may be turning a blind eye to this but we won’t. the freedom of the el-kurd siblings is absolutely CRUCIAL. this seems to be a wide campaign to arrest the figureheads, activists and community organisers in sheikh jarrah and silwan (batn al hawa) as it has just been announced the the israeli forces also arrested the head of the batn al hawa neighborhood committee. intimidation under the occupation never rests and it is our duty to resist in any way we can and lend our support to the palestinian people.

the court hearing for the forced expulsion of residents in sheikh jarrah is in two days. the timing is crystal clear and we need to maintain as much pressure as we can.

My Car Is Full Of Wasps

which sounds like a shitpost! but unfortunately it is not! 

my car that already had a lot of mechanical problems - battery consistently wont charge, broken door handle, no lock on front door, the list goes on for literally ages - now has wasps infesting one of my doors! a whole big hive of them. which is super cool

and it also means that i need a new car!! or i can’t go to work and pay over a year of back rent from getting fired due to transphobic leadership and also the pandemic!

This is Grga. Grga is six. He is a vibrant, beautiful child full of life. Grga is awesome.

Up until a few months ago, Grga was on top of the world. He had everything he needed in his life, he was happy and healthy. His family adored him, they still do, he had many friends, many wishes and wants. 

Everything changed in December of 2020. Grga was in a horrible, horrible accident. Horrible beyond words. Grga got crushed by an elevator. The media reported about every single detail of it, including how the firefighters who arrived to free him could hear his family’s screams from hundreds of meters away.

In a time where sensitivity was needed, a lot of people were insensitive. Fingers are being pointed, his story sensationalized, but his accident was just that - an unfortunate accident. 

It was a terrible shock to his loved ones. I can’t even begin to imagine how they felt while he was being reanimated in the back of an ambulance, clinging to life just barely on the way to the hospital.

Grga beat the odds and survived. But he’s not well. He’s not happy nor full of life anymore. He’s suffering and he’s having a hard time, though through it all, he has remained a fighter and a dreamer. His family too, they’re not giving up.

Grga needs our help.

The care he needs to be getting in order for him to make the best possible recovery is expensive and lengthy. Draining for everybody involved, but especially for him. That’s why I’m asking, no, begging you to share this post.

Where an offence has taken place they ought to be easily identified and reported to the police and punished.” people this law would harm:

immigrants who do not have a valid, formal ID, prohibiting them from communicating, raising awareness about their situation, fundraising, networking for jobs, etc

lgbt+, neurodivergent, mentally ill, and politically active minors under their parents’ roofs

ANYBODY lgbt+, especially, given the uk government’s current stance of open hostility towards them, trans women. the idea of the government being able to trace any trans woman’s profile to their real identity…

acitivists– considering priti “literal, actual, cackling disney villain” patel is currently being very successful with her bill that prohibits protest and gives a maximum 10-year prison sentence for defacing a statue, it’s safe to say that the government is at the very least hostile to racial, climate, and gender justice movements to name a few. the government would be able to attach any social media account which posts about these topics to a real person’s identity and address.

katie price is framing this as a crusade against online bigotry on behalf of her disabled son in order to garner sympathy, and my heart goes out to her, but this is incredibly dangerous. she has a LOT of clout, and the petition to pass the law has ~150,000 signatures right now, more than enough to be considered for debate in parliament.
