You actually cannot skip to being good at a creative endeavour that you haven't put much practice into. You cannot trick your way out of the 'knows that your work is not what you want it to be but don't know how to improve it' stage by planning or reading or talking about it really really hard. At some point you just have to craft through it until your brain finds it's own unique way back to the 'everything I make slaps' stage and be prepared to start the cycle all over again. You just have to make that project you're excited about slightly less good than you want it to be. (Says this standing in a pool of blood and covered in blood and also coughing up a little blood)

Dealing with complex thoughts and emotions I can't work through in therapy, like grief, despair, a complicated relationship with pain and addiction

Seeing the same characters fuck over amd over again

Fanfic is a great way to practice self-indulgence while writing. It doesn’t even have to be good, it just exists purely for your pleasure, be a little freak about it. Worry about quality and what other people think when it comes to works you intend to publish in a formal setting

I can't find the post so you'll just have to take my word for it. but the whole point of wrestling is to construct a choreographed story in which you and the person you hate most this week (for whatever reason) hurt each other and compete for public favor.

and if you wanna keep doing it for a while, you have to do it in ways that will (probably) not permanently injured you, so you're trusting your opponent to catch you when you jump from the ropes & to throw you shoulder-first into the floor instead of headfirst & to only choke you out a little bit & to sell your hits enough to make you look strong and impressive.

and if the fight calls for blood and you're nervous about cutting yourself to get it, sometimes the veteran you're "fighting" will offer to cut you himself. and I think that's

Usually the overall plot of the fight has been decided, but the details are improvised. There are known signals wrestlers use to communicate intent though, so your opponent can see/feel you telegraphing and anticipate the next move if you need to let them know in advance.

you can't like john constantine if you don't support social issues, cause like yeah, most people in comics do support social issues (heroes at least, even if john is more like an anti-hero) and yet people manage to beat around the bush with them, but john? john character is directly tied with social issues of all kind, some that affect him directly, and he cannot be a separate character from it.

i always rember a small panel on delano's hellblazer run in which he goes through his old things and a pin of "Rock Against Racism" can be seen, his comics address plenty of things some more obvious like discrimination against working class or how the elites try to squeeze them dry, homophobia, the bad buch of skinheads (could be applied with far-rigth movements today tbh) or others a bit more subtle like racism, or, in a way, mental health and the stigmatization against it.

john is elbow-deep in all of that, and if you strip him from those, you strip him of his identity.
