How people get nicknames:
Recipient of a third-degree burn in front of witnesses. IE, "I won't take that shit from a man dressed like a ghostbuster"= "Gostbuster" or "Buster"
A distinctive personal feature or quirk. IE, "Have you noticed how that new guy is always eating bell peppers?" = "Peppers", or "That chick has a massive forehead" = "Forehead".
An embarrassing thing you said or did. IE, "Did you seriously call Dale "Dad"?" = "Junior", "Baby boy", "Sport"
A game of name-mutation telephone. IE, "Donny Clyde" = "Bonnie 'n' Clyde" = "Bonnie" = "Bon-bon".
Irony. IE, calling a tall person "short stack" or a particularly dour person "sunshine".
A 'wrong place wrong time' one-off incident. IE, "He spilled oil on his pants and had to borrow a pair that were way too big and Jim saw him with the waistband pulled up to his nipples and called him 'Parachute'"
A batman-style origin story but not in a cool way: "One time she hit a deer with the company car and when she called the boss to tell her she was crying so hard we thought she was dying" = "Bambi"
The incredibly rare 'admiration' nickname, bourne only once a millennia under the light of the blood moon: "We saw him lift a truck once so now we call him 'iron man'"
+ How Nicknames Stick:
Your fate is determined by The Counsel
You hate it
It's accurate
This reminds me of an article about how callsigns in movies are inaccurate because they're too cool. Generally your callsign in the military is like "Bepis" because you once pronounced "Pepsi" wrong.

so I got into grad school today with my shitty 2.8 gpa and the moral of the story is reblog those good luck posts for the love of god
okay so i just got my dream job??? a week after applying to it?? and now i’m thinking….maybe this is the good luck post
…..not even six hours later i got an offer of a well paying full time long-term job with free room and board in queens in nyc, allowing me independence and a way to escape an abusive situation and an unhealthy environment
likes charge reblogs cast, folks, this is the good luck post
i need all the help i can get for finals
Hey so
the last time I reblogged this post right before I got a great job, in a permanent work-from-home position, with benefits, retirement, and a salary literally 3x what I was making before, doing something I really like.Â
So you know.Â
This might be the real one, y’all.
I could use some luck
Reblog if you're transmasc, support trans men, or want a chocolate chip cookie
im gonna be honest gang i really don't care if a 16 year old sees porn. i think the circumstances & context around your first interaction with sexuality is a lot more important in whether or not it will be traumatizing in some way than the sex itself. like i think the first time i ever looked up porn i was 12? which is a very normal age as well. and i was also on tumblr where i saw a lot of people saying "hey porn isn't realistic" so when i watched porn i was like hmm interesting, maybe hot, but i's not good advice. and that was that. watching porn didn't lead me to engage with any adults, it didn't make me upset, all it did was help me visualize things and later explore my own sexuality. and im not saying there's no rules i couldn't get behind regarding minors and sexual content because we do have these concepts for good reasons. but i keep seeing people be like well OBVIOUSLY we should keep minors from watching porn! and im just like idk! do we really need to be majorly concerned with preventing teens from accessing porn as much as we need to make sure there is bountiful, educated and compassionate sex ed, workers rights for sex workers, and awareness around abuse? maybe the solution is better positive than negative
also to be clear porn and alcohol are not actually that comparable because alcohol is a poison that can kill you and porn is an artistic depiction of a normal human activity.
& as someone in the notes pointed out, anything can be traumatizing. things that are ultimately beneficial for you can even be traumatizing. trauma is not your brain telling you something is inherently evilbaddirty it is not a moral signifier. not only do MANY people REGULARLY encounter even! gasp! enjoy porn at a young age and not experience any trauma, not only do many people feel their interaction with porn as a child/teen was ultimately beneficial for their sexual development, but the fact that someone CAN have trauma relating to porn is not itself a sign that witnessing or reading about people having sex is innately damaging to anyone's mind. but it certainly is easy to jump to that conclusion when literally every part of our society for centuries has depicted sex as physically socially morally and spiritually dangerous. i repeat:
the circumstances & context around your first interaction with sexuality is a lot more important in whether or not it will be traumatizing in some way than the sex itself.
remember that pride is still a protest
here's where to find it on windows 10
Ugh, it was in mine. It's off now.
IT GETS WORSE
I had to turn this off, but it's something that allows Windows and anyone using your device to generate text/images.
LOBOTOMIZE YOUR MACHINES
month starting on a monday we have no excuse guys lets get to work and lock the fuck in
yk its actually very chic and avant garde to start on tuesday the second
many claim theres nothing more subversive and revolutionary than starting on wednesday the third
there are simply no words in the english language that can describe starting on thursday the fourth. thats how iconic it is
choosing to start on friday the fifth. i just think its very inspiring
in 2026 i am wishing for all of us the energy of bilbo baggins, who was headhunted for an extremely well paid role he had no qualifications or experience for, blagged the interview, and within his first week found a magic ring that does the job for him
things will work out + it’s still early + not everything is lost + trees
Reblogging this manually. Op doesn't want credit for fear of being terminated.
Unfortunately, that's a very pretty color scheme.
I now want a dark blue stripe on the outside of the chevron to represent defiance against censorship/erasure.
someone from 1997 wished me good luck. it’s like someone from so many years back knows your struggles and i just, i think i’m gonna cry
reblogging for luck from friend in 1997
