Update

Minor update on my lack of activity:

I came home from school and basically hung out with friends, went camping or was playing video games to my hearts content. Needless to stay, it was a lot of fun.

Now what happened after that? I got sick as fuck to put it lightly. About the beginning of August, when I was on vacation with my family and friend I got a horrible ear infection that basically ruined my well being and energy. I quite literally had no ambition to do anything because I was in so much pain constantly no matter what I took.

After 3 doctor visits over the past month of the half, I’ve finally been going in the right direction. If the infection comes back though, they are going to recommend me to a surgeon.

That ear infection really fucked up my life though for a month. I was miserable, constantly in pain, etc. I basically slept and watched netflix all day, every day.

It isn’t all doom and gloom though, I just got a job in the past week. It’s a brand new store opening up so I’ve basically been helping them put the place together which is exciting. It’s not a lot of hours (since I still have a semester of school), but enough to where I’m not depending on others for money.

I plan on being more active soon. I’ve had a few ideas of what I want to do with this thing now, a better idea and not a half assed attempt like I’ve done in the past. So I will be back soon, probably within the next week or two. I should also be on a computer that I’m not afraid will blow up on me. Mine currently sounds like a hairdryer all the time, so between the shitty internet and this, I was nervous to push it too hard.

TL:DR - I’ve been sick for a while now, that’s why I haven’t been around. I have new plans that I’m going to be implementing when I do return which should be within the next week or two. Thanks to the friends that have stuck around, as always. You guys are great, I shall be lurking soon.

Update on my life:

1) I’ve been pretty sick the past few days and/or on vacation, so this is the reason for my lack of activity.

2) I’M THE MAID OF HONOR FOR MY BEST FRIEND’S WEDDING (I have a while to prepare, 2 years-ish)

3) I’m mostly on my playstation when I’m not sick/dying/vacationing and having to use my tablet for the most part for Tumblr. My computer I try not to push too hard anymore because it sounds like a hair dryer doing simple things.

TL:DR - my life is busy so my activity sucks as usual. You people should be used to it by now. Love you all, don’t ever get allergies.

Warning to writers

While you are worrying about whether beta readers will steal your ideas, there is a more genuine threat on the horizon.

When offered a publishing contract, please do all your research before you sign. There are a number of fakes and scammers out there, as well as good-intentioned amateurs that don’t know how to get your work to a wide audience. I won’t tell the heartbreaking stories here - there are too many.

Being published badly is worse than being never published.

It can destroy your career and your dreams.

The quick check is to google the publishing house name + scam or warning.

But, to be sure, check with these places first. They aren’t infallible (nothing is) but they can help you protect yourself. They are written and maintained by expereinced writers, editors, publishers and legal folks.
