Any red state can turn blue if enough voters turn out.

voting block 1 (options 1, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 11, 12): 60.9%, highest option "yes"
voting block 2 (options 2, 10): 39.1%, highest option "no"
looks like "yes" wins!
I think this better explained gerrymandering better to me than any explanation I've heard

Proposals to defund the police
Police Household: 49.2% Support
Non-Police Household: 30% Support
Proposals to dismantle the police
Police Household: 52.2% Support
Non-Police Household: 30.1% Support
Proposals to redirect money from LAPD budget
Police Household: 63.7% Support
Non-Police Household: 50.6% Support
TL;DR: Cop Households are more anti-cop than non-cop households, and theyāre the ones who have to live with cops and deal with cops daily.
I'm in awe of how we ran historical revisionism on the civil rights movement so bad that people truly believe it was quiet self-sacrifcial non-disruptive christ-like activism that forced progress and not ā like ā the incredible economic pressure of boycotts and outbreaks of illegal civil disobedience
Yapping to the choir but eughhh it burns me up girl effective protests have to be loud and inconvenient for change to happen because silent cries die in the dark that's the entire pointtt
Also, a lot of the so called harmless examples used for peaceful protests were specifically supposed to be disruptive as all hell. Like, take sit-ins, for example. What you were probably told is that black people just refused to leave white only establishments to make a point.
But how they actually worked was manipulating racist policies to cause as much of a delay as possible. They'd sit down at the bar to order (that's how those restaurants worked, you had to sit down to order and there weren't many tables) and when the waiter said they couldn't serve them, they'd respond that they would wait until they could be served. And then all their friends who they organized this with would do the same, and they would sit there at every seat until they're holding up the whole line. Then nobody could order and the restaurant was forced to either close, serve them, or try and fail to work around them. It wasn't just to make a point, it was to cost them money and time.
Even what was framed as "quiet peaceful protest" was actually very disruptive both socially and economically.
btw one of the key components of actually being in a healthy relationship is just asking for things that you want. i keep seeing posts on this website saying 'i really want to do/receive [X] but my partner has never done it'. just ask. 'nobody exchanges love letters anymore' ask. 'i want to have my partner's hair in a locket like the victorians' just ask. 'i want to be bought flowers regularly :((' literally just ask. your partner doesn't know they're being held to these expectations and that you're unhappy unless you tell them. it's so unfair to expect your partner to read your mind. 'it's less special if you have to ask :((' grow up and stop pretending you're the lead in a romcom. when people say communication is crucial they mean it !! just ask !!
This is one of the hardest but most crucial lessons to learn if you have previously been in an abusive relationship. If a previous partner made you feel like it wasn't safe to ask for the things you want or need, it is very easy to fall into a pattern of never articulating your desires. But that's not fair to your current partner or to yourself; in a healthy relationship, you should feel safe asking for the things you want. It takes reflection, and work, and it is sometimes hard as hell, but trust me, it's worth it.
so i spent far too long on this.
for those unaware, the spaghetti wall of letters and numbers is a base64-encoded JPEG image (and not a URL as some guessed). in certain cases when you tried to insert/paste an image into whatās ostensibly a text-only box, this could happen.
the thing thatās bugging me however is that thereās image data there. we have fairly a clear (albeit with JPEG artifacts) screenshot of text that, thanks to how Windows ClearType renders text, each character is identical to each other, that is to say, an uppercase Q will always look more or less pixel-perfect each time, meaning we donāt have to guess what a Q looks like, we simply have to pixel-accurate match it.
as an aside, this is why regular OCR struggles so much with this kind of data retrieval, such as code even when itās clearer than a physical paper scan. ordinarily, OCR will try to best-guess every single letter because it expects each letter to be slightly different from each other (as would be the unpredictable nature in a scanned document), and on top of that most OCR today will try to autocorrect because it expects the scanned text to contain words in some human written language.
so, all we have to do is make a program to recognize each character and piece back together the whole base64 string, right? wellā¦
first i stitched all 7 images back into a single block of text, observing the consistency of the line spacing. some of the screenshots have little bits of the previous one sticking out of it, which helps with alignment and to make sure theyāre in the right order.
after that i had to sample every single letter off this file. this means going around the file and finding one example of each different character weāre trying to identify, saving it as its own separate file so that the program can load them as references to compare against in the full image. for base64, the alphabet consists of a-z, A-Z, 0-9, +, / and =. once i had the initial code in placeā¦
ā¦close! but oh so far. if any one single character in a base64 string is wrong or missing, the resulting decode will be wrong. the issues i was having were mostly with the lowercase r and j because of how the kerning affected the pixels around those letters. i was also getting false matches for r where there should be an m. what followed was grueling hours of tweaking the matching code and my known font set to better fit the original image and get as close as possible to a 100% match. here is the resulting code, maybe itāll be useful for someone and this wonāt have been a complete waste of time.
once i was confident through the verification image that i had all characters recognized, i put it through a base64 to JPEG decoder. i actually did this several times as i improved the recognition and what follows is the best result that came out of it yet. i suspect some of the data might be missing (perhaps a line or block of text got lost in between screenshots), or i have a wrong character somewhere resulting in a wrong value. this is the image extracted from OPās base64 string:
we can finally know what they meant when they said āme in a relationshipā and i can finally go the fuck to sleep.
update: i found that the string that i used to decode the image in the previous reblog actually had one letter wrong.
with this it still doesnāt parse as fully valid base64 in strict mode so i think thereās still another letter in there thatās wrong, but i couldnāt find it. however this gives us a better look:
and this is finally enough to do a reverse image search. i present to you, the HD version of our intrepid massive backpacker:
still have no idea what they mean by āme in a relationshipā with that, though.

Tier List
S Tier: Green Line - High up and long circular motions are the sauce. Absolute banger.
A Tier: Blue Line - Nothing special in terms of line structure, but the texture on the beads are what make this one so great
B Tier: Yellow Line - The Right Angled motions are honestly mesmerizing
C Tier: Orange Line - The Vertical Up and Down motions can be fun but it just comes across as clunky
F Tier: Red Line - What are you even doing
are you fucking kidding me the red line beads are a FAR more compelling texture than the blue line. āoh but the red line is booring.ā the appeal is in how it interacts with and highlights the other lines you philistine. without the red line thereās no cohesion at all. read a book.
Literally hop off. Red doesnāt even use gravity as an element in the main route. Orange is one of the only three lines (with green and yellow) to actually use gravity to add complexity to the route, and is honestly an underrated pick. Have fun playing āpush leftā simulator with red. Idiot.

Hanukkah PSA for reptile owners!
Hanukkah is almost upon us (woohoo!), so I wanted to give a quick reminder to all my fellow Jewish reptile keepers to avoid lighting candles in the same room as a reptile!
Even the smoke from small Hanukkah candles can be very dangerous for reptiles, especially hatchlings and juveniles. Reptiles can't cough, so any smoke they breathe in stays in their lungs and can cause respiratory illness very quickly. It's less dangerous on the first night when you've only got two candles going, but by night eight, it can be a recipe for disaster! This is true if you have an oil-based chanukkiah, too!
To keep your pet reptiles safe and healthy, make sure you always light your chanukkiah in another part of the house, and keep your reptiles out of the room while your Hanukkah candles are burning.
!×× ××ר×× ×©××
Hanukkah is almost here! If you have a pet reptile, please take a moment to think about a safe place to light your candles where your pet won't be exposed to them.

I keep thinking about a post I saw the other day, and likely won't be able to find again, which proposed as a response to "you'll be fine if you have nothing to hide" the phrase:
" I have nothing to hide, but I don't trust your intentions and judgement"
Was it this one?
"I need privacy, not because my actions are questionable, but because your judgment and intentions are."
A reminder that the above applies TO THE UNITED STATES. If youāre from somewhere else PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE talk to someone local who works with citizensā rights. Off the top of my head, I think itās England where you do not have the right to remain silent and it WILL be used against you if you try to remain so.
You're wrong, but I see how you came to that conclusion. When you have your rights read to you upon being arrested you're told:
"You do not have to say anything, but it may harm your defence if you fail to mention, when questioned, anything which you later rely on in court."
So the rule applies to anyone in the UK, too. Don't talk to PCSOs, don't talk to the police, and if you're arrested, tell them to get you a solicitor.
More info.
