SOMEONE REBLOG THIS FROM ME PLEASE
Honestly āqueerā is so useful for people like me w/ a ācomplicated orientationā b/c instead of having to say Iām āasexual panromanticā and explain what that means, I can just say āIām queerā and it tells you all you need to know (that Iām not straight).
yeah sure good for you but donāt ever ever use that word for someone who doesnāt identify as it themselves, itās not an umbrella term for everyone. also āpan/aceā would definitely work, even if you donāt want to use it, other people could. i use ace lesbian and definitely not the q slur.
Wow its almost like they were just talking about using it on themselves for individual reasons and you butted in to be an ass and be condescending because you think youāre superior for not using queer, then you called their identity a slur right to them. But that canāt possibly be what you were trying to do, right?
Anyone is allowed to use it for themselves, I never said no one should do that if thatās what they want. Queer is a slur though. I just want people to be aware of that, I have no idea if OP is aware of that or not but some people using that word arenāt. Iām tired of people including me and other people who donāt want to be included in that word, and before anyone asks, I never meant that OP did that, because I literally have no idea if they do.
Queer is a slur as much as any other LGBT+ word, I just want you to be aware of that.
āGayā is used as an insult. It is used to be demeaning. Its used to discriminate. And yet its used as the all mighty umbrella - gay rights, gay marriage, gay community - when discussing the entire community.
Gay gets used as a slur. Queer gets used as a slur. But I donāt walk up to gay people and say āyour identity is a slur, you know that rightā or get pissed when they say āthe gay communityā when they mean the whole community.
Personal identity and preference in terms, even harmful words that get used as slurs, are not questioned; except for the word Queer.
Queer gets shut down. Queer people get others in their faces saying āyour identity is a slur!ā Queer people donāt have the freedom to identify in a community, but are forced under other terms against their will due to hypocrisy and double standards.
So if youāre not going to come onto gay peopleās posts for the same behavior, maybe critically analyze why exactly you feel the need to be so condescending to Queer people, specifically on posts that ONLY have to do with personal identity. Why you feel the need to insist to Queer people that their identities are slurs, to directly slap away the power of reclaiming a word from them by demanding it remain in the hands of the Straights as a perpetual slur.
I think an important difference between gay and queer is however, that queer started out as a slur used against members of the community and continues to be used as a slur in many places. Whereas gay began as a word the community chose itself to describe itself and was then later used by homophobes and heterosexuals in general in a negative way, meaning however, that gay doesnāt hold the same negative connotations as queer for many people simply because it was our word that they took, and not a word that they forced on us to make us āstrangeā or āotherā like queer means.
Thatāsā¦. Not true. People think so because the history before gay was reclaimed is way older (older than any love community memberās lifetimes, probably,) but gay had the exact same origins.
It was meant to denote sexually perverse people, most frequently sex workers and those who hired them. Anyone who participated in anything but married, vanilla, straight sex might have been referred to as āgay,ā including any suspected LGBT person.
The word (already being one frequently used on the community,) was reclaimed as a community identifier when the community wanted to disconnect from the clinical and diagnostic implications of āhomosexual.ā
There is record of queer being reclaimed and used as a personal identifier literally before the popularization of gay. Both words are reclaimed slurs with negative histories, and BOTH are used as slurs against the community still to this day.
The more recent history of the mid to late 20th century more prevalently favored queer as a slur, as is represented in our media. However its clearly undeniable that the switch back to gay as the popular community slur (along with the ever present f slur,) happened in the 2000s. Which is trying to be denied and rewritten by the anti queer crowd, who completely ignore the words popularity with community members who actually lived through when it was a popular slur.
Yes to all of this. When it comes to words forĀ ānot straightā there are hardly any choices that didnāt originate as ways to stigmatize or pathologize us. We are all using reclaimed slurs to describe ourselves.Ā
Also, queer is reclaimed in a particularly empowering way. It doesnāt just meanĀ āsame-sex attractionā but encompasses a whole spectrum of attractions and gender orientations. Itās a word that says to asexuals, pansexuals, bisexuals, trans folks, genderfluid and genderqueer and genderless folks and people who are still figuring themselves out, āhey, youāve got a home here. We donāt need to categorize you to love you.āĀ
This is important because there are a lot of divisions within the LGBTQ+ world, and in particular cis gay men and cis lesbians often overlook or exclude trans, bi and asexual people. Queer is the only word that not only demands equal acceptance for everyone, but leaves the door open for words and descriptors that havenāt even been invented yet.Ā
Somebody else pointed this out earlier to me, and of course Iāve lost the post, but itās really suspicious that of all the reclaimed slurs, the one that gets the most pushback is the one that is most radically accepting of all identities
āhey, youāve got a home here. We donāt need to categorize you to love you.ā
Lmao yeah! the pushback against this idea is overt and disgusting and I donāt trust anybody who perpetuates it.Ā
Queer is an ideology and an identity, historically and now. It is an umbrella for that ideology and an umbrella for those identities, historically and now. They canāt be conflated (with LGBT) and itās super fucking disingenuous to pretend one is just the tarnished besmirched dirty slur version of the other. Theyāre different. In my particular work for example, Queer bioethics is different from LGBT bioethics and conflating the two will muddle any discussion you try to have about them because they lead to literally oppositeĀ conclusions in some cases.Ā
Yeah I freaking love pancakes
Wait wrong post
By far the best addition to this post
This is one of those things where I feel like an old. Like, *the* slogan I associate with pride is, āWeāre here, weāre queer ā get used to it!ā There was a TV show called āQueer Eye for the Straight Guyā that was total mainstream pap. (Not that the show wasnāt riddles problematic elements from the concept out, but āqueerā in the title was clearly meant as a positive.) I just have a hard time processing queer as anything but reclaimed.
They actually shot āQueer As Folkā in my city!
TERFs and radical gender/sexuality bianarists are flooding social media and blogging sites with propaganda smearing the word queer in the hopes of silencing all of us who donāt identify with their hate politics. I fought hard to reclaim the word queer in the late 80s and early 90s, and itās the one word that doesnāt worship exclusion. Which is why these people are trying to convince you not to use it. fuck that noise. there is literally no word i could use to identify my sexuality that hasnāt been thrown at me in hatred, fear, and violence. No way am I giving up the one of those that allows me to talk about all of my community without trying to put people in boxes they donāt fit in.
I will never not reblog this post. Queer, queer, queer here.Ā
āQueerā has been claimed by queer people as a self-descriptor since at least 1910. Itās an insult to those historical people (and all the generations of queer historical people who have identified as queer since then) to pretend that the people using it as a slur owned it more than the queer people who used it as a self-descriptor.
Source: George Chauncey, āGay New York,ā page 101
They donāt want us to use queer because they donāt want to be lumped in with anyone whoās not cis gay or cis lesbian. So fine. You donāt like the word queer? You donāt want to be in the āqueerā community? Get the fuck out, then. Y'all donāt welcome us in your community anyway, so weāll just have our own.
And itāll be queer as fuck.
I fucking love the word queer ā¤
Or, to put it another way, using a great old slogan of the community: Iām not gay as in happy, Iām queer as in fuck you.
Yes yes yes yes yes! These younglings today donāt know their queer history but feel so free to comment on it. Trying so desperately to assimilate into straight culture by turning your nose up at queer, and all the people who take refuge under its umbrella.Ā Queer accepted me when nobody else would, not even the LGBT groups.Ā
Queer is full of the types of people who donāt make good poster children for the middle class assimilationist cis gay couple just looking to get married and have some kids. Queer forces us to realize the fight didnāt end with gay marriage, and cis gays are gonna have to step out of the spotlight sometimes, and realize cis gays have privilege, and fight for someone with less.Ā Trans people, nonbinary people, people in nontraditional relationship structures, aromantics, asexuals, sex workers. Heck more and more bisexual people these days are switching over to queer because the amount of biphobia in the so-called lgBt community is so alienating, and also because so many of us feel the term bisexual reinforces a false gender dichotomy and weāre too tired of jokes about kitchenware to use pansexual.
Part of what I love about the term queer is that it does make people uncomfortable. It makes them aware of their privilege, exposes certain biases, even within the LGBT community. Whatās so wrong with a movement that strives to fight for everybody, huh? Huh?
Proudly bi, proudly queer, and being part of this movement when I was young was an honor.
From the Queer Nation manifesto
Text of a manifesto originally passed out by people marching with the ACT UP contingent in the New York Gay Pride Day parade, 1990. -
An Army of Lovers Cannot Lose Being queer is not about a right to privacy; it is about the freedom to be public, to just be who we are. It means everyday fighting oppression; homophobia, racism, misogyny, the bigotry of religious hypocrites and our own self-hatred. (We have been carefully taught to hate ourselves.) And now of course it means fighting a virus as well, and all those homo-haters who are using AIDS to wipe us off the face of the earth. Being queer means leading a different sort of life. Itās not about the mainstream, profit-margins, patriotism, patriarchy or being assimilated. Itās not about executive directors, privilege and elitism. Itās about being on the margins, defining ourselves; itās about gender-fā and secrets, whatās beneath the belt and deep inside the heart; itās about the night. Being queer is āgrass rootsā because we know that everyone of us, every body, every cā, every heart and aā and dā is a world of pleasure waiting to be explored. Everyone of us is a world of infinite possibility. We are an army because we have to be. We are an army because we are so powerful. (We have so much to fight for; we are the most precious of endangered species.) And we are an army of lovers because it is we who know what love is. Desire and lust, too. We invented them. We come out of the closet, face the rejection of society, face firing squads, just to love each other! Every time we fā, we win. We must fight for ourselves (no else is going to do it) and if in that process we bring greater freedom to the world at large then great. (Weāve given so much to that world: democracy, all the arts, the concepts of love, philosophy and the soul, to name just a few of the gifts from our ancient Greek Dykes, Fags.) Letās make every space a Lesbian and Gay space. Every street a part of our sexual geography. A city of yearning and then total satisfaction. A city and a country where we can be safe and free and more. We must look at our lives and see whatās best in them, see what is queer and what is straight and let that straight chaff fall away! Remember there is so, so little time. And I want to be a lover of each and every one of you. Next year, we march naked.
guys. if you go to college and want to study our history and current political climate etc? do you know what that Ā department is called? āQueer Studiesā. So could you fucking stop, you little babies.
I am officially Old as Fuck ⢠compared to most Tumblrites.Ā Ā
I came of age after they discovered HIV and before they discovered how to treat it.Ā Ā THAT is how old I am.
I worked and marched with friends and loved ones and the banner that brought everyone together was āQueer.āĀ Ā The word doesnāt need to be reclaimed.Ā It has been reclaimed.Ā Before a lot of yāall were ever born.Ā
Trying to school your elders about shit of which you know nothing doesnāt build community.Ā Itās part of a rejection of the idea that the LGBTQ community is multigenerational. Ā Itās a rejection of the idea that there is gay, lesbian, QUEER life after 30.Ā Its refusing to consider that those who went before did an awful damn lot to make where you are now possible.
Can I have this framed
the Queer masterpost
so glad to see that this post finally got into the difference between the identity politics that is being gay, and the political identity that is queer.Ā
Iām 30 years old.
The word āqueerā was used against me growing up.
Iām marginalized within LGBT identity circles for being nonbinary, demisexual, autistic, homebound, and poor.
Marriage equality is legal, but I still canāt marry my girlfriend if I wanted to. I would lose my disability benefits and be left without any kind of safety net.My life has been defined by being ostracized by the rest of society for some reason or another. Now, within the LGBT community, TERFs, truscum, exorsexists, ace exclusionists and biphobes are trying to ostracize me again because I donāt fit within their narrow definitions of identity. And the acronym itself is really more of a depiction of the gay hierarchy food chain. Therefore, I am fucking queer.
This post forever I need this printed and framed

it works like this
Objects cannot accelerate to the speed of light within normal spacetime; instead, the Alcubierre drive shifts space around an object so that the object would arrive at its destination faster than light would in normal space without breaking any physical laws.

Itās OK if youāre having a hard time figuring out what types of attraction you are or not experiencing. Itās not straight forward for everyone.
Hi.
Iām your kidās teacher, and I would take a bullet for your child. But I wish you wouldnāt ask me to.
.
We had an intruder drill today.
.
I have shepherded children through a lot of intruder drills. I have also, on one memorable occasion, shepherded children through a non-drill. When I was a childrenās librarian in a rough suburb, armed men got into a fight in the alley behind our building. We ushered all of the kids - most of whom were unattended - into the basement while we waited for the police.
During intruder drills, some children - from five-year-olds all the way to high school kids - get visibly upset. At one school, the intruder drill included administrators running down the hallways, screaming and banging on lockers to simulate the āreal thing.ā Kids cry. Kindergartners wet themselves. Teenagers laugh, nudging each other, even as the blood drains from their faces.
Other children handle intruder drills matter-of-factly. āWould the guy be able to shoot us through the door?ā they ask, the same way theyād ask a question about their math homework. In some ways, this is worse than the kids who cry. To be so young and so accustomed to fear that these drills seem routine.
And then there are the teachers. There is no way, huddling in a corner with your students, ducking out of view of the windows and doors, to avoid thinking about what happens when itās not a drill.
.
People really hate teachers. I donāt take it personally. It actually makes a lot of sense: what other group of professionals do we know so well? How many doctors have you had? How many plumbers? How many secretaries?
Over the course of my public school education, I had at least fifty teachers for at least a year each. So of course some of them were bad. You take fifty people from any profession, and a couple of them are going to be terrible at their job.
So I had a couple of teachers who were terrible, and a few teachers who were amazing, inspirational figures - the kinds of teachers they make movies about.
And then I had a lot of teachers who did a good job. They came to school every day and worked hard. Theyād planned our lessons and they graded our papers. I learned what I was supposed to, more or less, even if it wasnāt the most incredible learning experience of my life.
Most teachers fall into that category. Iām sure I do.
Looking at it from the other side, though, I see something that I didnāt know when I was a kid.
Those workhorse teachers who tried, who failed sometimes and sometimes succeeded, who showed up every day and did their jobs: those teachers loved us.
.
Of course you can never know what youāll do in the event. Thatās what they always say. In the event of an intruder, a fire, a tornado.
You can never know until you know.
But part of whatās so terrifying, so upsetting about an intruder drill as a teacher, is that on some level you do know. You donāt aspire to martyrdom; youāve never wanted to be a hero. You go home every night to a family that loves you, and you intend to spend the next fifty years with them. You will do everything in your power to hide yourself in that office along with your kids.
But if you canāt.
If you canāt.
.
When people tell me about why they oppose gun control, I canāt hear it anymore.
Iām from a part of the country where everybody has guns. I used to be really moderate about this stuff, and I am not anymore.
I canāt be.
Every day, I go to work in a building that contains hundreds of children. Every single one of those kids, including every kid that makes me crazy, is a joy and a blessing. They make their parentsā lives meaningful. They make my life meaningful. They are the reason I go to work in the morning, and the reason I worry and plan when I come home.
Parents usually know a handful of kids who are the most wonderful creatures on the planet. I know a couple thousand. It is an incredible privilege, and it is also terrifying. The world is big and scary, and I love so many small people who must go out into it.
So when adults tell me, āI have the right to own a gunā, all I can hear is: āMy right to own a gun outweighs your studentsā right to be alive.ā All I can hear is: āMy right to own a gun is more important than kindergarteners feeling safe at school.ā All I can hear is: āMine. Mine. Mine.ā
.
When you are sitting there hiding in the corner of your classroom, you know.
The alternative would be unthinkable.
.
We live in a country where children are acceptable casualties. Every time someone tells me about the second amendment I want to give them a history lesson. I also want to ask them: in what universe is your right to walk into a Wal-Mart to buy a gun more important than the lives of hundreds of children shot dead in their schools?
Parents send their kids to school every day with this shadow. Teachers live with the shadow. We work alongside it. We plan for it. In the event.
In the event, parents know that their childrenās teachers will do everything in their power to keep them safe. We plan for it.
And when those plans donāt work, teachers die protecting their students.
We love your children. Thatās why weāre here. Some of us love the subject we teach, too, and thatās important, but all of us love your kids.
The alternative would be unthinkable.
.
When you are waiting, waiting, waiting for the voice to come on over the PA, telling you that the drill is over, you look at the apprehensive faces around you. You didnāt grow up like this. You never once hid with your teacher in a corner, wondering if a gunman was just around the corner. It is astonishing to you that anyone tolerates this.
And the kids are nervous, but they are all looking to you. Youāre their teacher.
They know what you didnāt know, back when you were a kid, back before Columbine. They know that you love them. They know you will keep them safe.
Youāre their teacher.
.
If you are a parent who thinks itās totally reasonable for civilians to have a house full of deadly weapons, and who accepts the blood of innocent people in exchange for that right, it doesnāt change anything for me. I will love your kid. I will treat you, and your child, the same way I treat everyone else: with all of the respect and the care that is in me.
In the event, I will do everything in my power to keep your child safe.
I just want you to know what you are asking me to do.

2015 - Here are some gifs of Donald Trump being attacked by a bald eagle named Uncle Sam, literally the least patriotic thing that can happen to an American. [video]
Iām reblogging this again because I finally realized why this is so funny to me, as a bird person.
In the first gif, what youāre seeing is a man who has zero idea how to handle a bird. Thatās a heavy bird, and heās got his arm stretched out as far as it will go in an attempt to keep the bird away from his face. What that does is create unstable footing for Uncle Sam. The handler is there trying to hold up Trumpās arm, but the bird has already realized it needs to leave or it will fall. In the first gif the bird is not attacking Trump- it is trying to get away from him so it doesnāt get hurt.
In the second gif, what we see is a bird that remembers what just happened and is blaming Trump for it. Uncle Sam sees Trump reach for its tether, and makes a lunge at Trumpās hand to keep him away. The bird /does not/ want to hang out with Trump because it has learned that Trump has no idea what he is doing.
Uncle Sam is rejecting Trump based on Trumpās proven inability to properly handle Uncle Sam. And that is both hilarious and beautiful.
Good bird.
Always reblog Uncle Sam telling Trump to fuck off
This is a better explanation of these gifs than I could have given!
I had to reblog this, for obvious reasons.
There is no gay and straight, there is only love and those too weak to seek it.
oh god, they were roommates
This straight guy, who weāll call Mike, has been roommates with Alex for a year. When Alex told Mike he was gay, he was absolutely fine with it. But then when Alex started to bring guys homeā¦he started getting annoyed, resentful, disgusted.
Posting on Reddit, he said: āFirst things first, let me say that Iāve never thought of myself as being discriminatory before. I had a gay friend in high school and we made it through some tough times together, I never felt weird about him dating a guy. So all of this is coming out of nowhere.
āāAlexā has been my roommate for one year, and I pretty much knew upfront about him being gay. At some point we became friendly enough with each other that we could even joke about it, as in, sometimes heāll pretend to flirt with me and Iāll pretend to flirt back. Iām straight and he knows that, but I donāt feel threatened by him flirting with me and he says most straight guys do.
āThe problems started because of this: Alex brings guys home sometimes. At the start I thought I was okay with it, since itās really not my business who he sleeps with. Heās usually discreet enough about it that I donāt see/hear anything I wouldnāt want to see/hear from anyone else, but for some reason Iāve started feeling weird if I even see him with other guys.
āI donāt know when it started but one time that really sticks out to me is when I came home and saw him and some guy making out on the couch. I donāt know how to describe what it was like to see that, except that for a moment I felt so bad I thought I was going to throw up. Alex was embarrassed (he didnāt think Iād be back for a while), but I told him it was okay since I was embarrassed too.
āI felt bad for being as disgusted as I was, since thereās NO good reason for me to have a reaction like that. I thought maybe they just caught me by surprise and thatās why I reacted so strongly, but it turned out it wasnāt a one-time thing. After that, every time he has a guy over (not that often, but every once in a while) I just start feeling like shit and wishing that guy would leave, and I canāt stop thinking about what these guys might have done to him even though I donāt want to imagine that. It makes me really uncomfortable and grossed out. And these are just guys he fools around with, I donāt know what Iād do if he ends up getting an actual boyfriend.
āAlex has started to notice and itās affecting our friendship. The other day I came home right when some guy was about to leave, and the guy tried to be polite to me but I ended up being rude to him (donāt remember what I said, but it was really obvious I was pissed). When the guy left, Alex asked me why I was being an asshole. I didnāt know what to say, but then he asked if I had a problem with him sleeping with other guys. I said no. For some reason that pissed him off more and he said I canāt complain since I used to bring my fuckbuddy over and he was forced to see me being affectionate with her sometimes. (I was in an FWB situation with a girl in the early days of me and Alex living together, but I broke it off after a few months and I havenāt done anything with anyone since.) I agreed with him and told him I was just having a bad day and I donāt care who he sleeps with, but he looked more upset and told me heās going to a friendās place to cool off. I said okay. When he was leaving for some reason he casually said, āand youāll be okay if I sleep with him as long as I do at his place and not ours, right?ā Or something like that. I told him itās none of my business what he does at someone elseās place, but when he said that I felt sick to my stomach and couldnāt stop thinking about it.
āHe didnāt show up later that night even though he was supposed to hang out with me and my sister. Heās never blown me off before and it made me feel like shit, but part of it was my fault since I made him feel like I was judging him for sleeping with guys. Now heās acting like nothing happened but Iām worried I might mess things up if it happens again. I want to keep him as a friend, but heād be hurt if he knew that whenever I think about him with other guys it disgusts me.
āHow do I deal with this? Iāve never been homophobic but Iāve suddenly developed some kind of homophobia where just the idea of my roommateās sex life makes me uncomfortable. And I donāt react like this to other gay people either, itās just Alex. I donāt know if this means Iām only okay with gay people as long as Iām not living with them or what. Does anyone else have experience with this? I want to get over myself and stop whatever this is, but if I canāt Iām going to have to leave since the last thing I want to do is hurt Alex, and if I stay here and keep automatically judging him for his lifestyle thatās whatās going to happen.
ātl;dr: Roommate is gay, I am not but I thought I was okay with him being gay until I realised I feel crappy when I see him with other guys and itās started to affect our friendship. How to deal with this/stop being such a dick?ā
One Redditor asked: āAre you sure that weird feeling isnāt jealousyā¦? i mean, this only seems to revolve around Alex specifically.ā
And Mike responded: āI thought about that, but I donāt know what Iām meant to be jealous of. He definitely has a more active sex life than I do, but reacting like this to something like that seems really strange and irrational.ā
The Redditor responded: āYeah i thought maybe you donāt like seeing Alex with other people because you want his attention to yourself?ā
āThe day I made the post, I met up with my sister Laura [24F] and I showed her the post. She read the whole thing and called me an oblivious walnut and said it sounds like I have a crush on Alex. The same conclusion some of you came to in the original post.
āAnyway, she talked me through it and we confirmed Iām not as straight as I thought I was. She also pointed out something in my original post, where I said the more I tried to reassure him I didnāt mind who he slept with, the more he got upset. Also: how he brought my old FWB situation into it. I just thought he was understandably mad with me for being an asshole, but Laura thought it sounded like maybe Alex wanted me to be jealous? We moved on from that topic pretty quickly, though, since I couldnāt really handle the implications of that when Iād JUST started to understand that I like this guy.
āThe next few days were mostly me sitting on my ass trying to wrap my head around everything. I was scared of messing up our friendship and losing him, but I was even more scared that I might just let this pass without saying anything and then he gets a boyfriend and I have to see him with another guyā¦etc. Because if that happened I would probably have to end it anyway, since as weāve established, Iām not great at dealing with him being with other guys.
āProbably could have planned it better, but I told him. Right after a Tarantino marathon, if anyoneās interested, since nothing says romance like graphic violence. I told him Iāve been such a dick because I was jealous. I donāt think he got what I was getting at because he just laughed a little and said I didnāt have to be jealous since it wasnāt like Iād have any trouble finding people to sleep with me. No clue how I explained, itās a blur. Luckily he saw how nervous I was so he knew I was serious.
āWe talked. Long story short: all that flirting was real, but Alex didnāt have any hope of it going further because of me being an oblivious āstraightā guy. So heās been trying to get over me. He laughed really hard when I told him about how I mistook my jealousy for homophobia, and he teased me by saying heād never expected me to be the jealous type. Then again, we both ended up laughing a lot of out of nervousness and awkwardness. Iāve never seen him like that before since heās usually pretty confident. In the end we agreed to maybe try something out, and we kissed. Never kissed anyone with a beard before, soā¦interesting experience, but also really good. (Plot twist: it turns out I donāt have any problem with Alex kissing guys if itās me heās kissing.)
āSince then weāve kind of been easing into the whole dating thing, I guess? I know this place is wary about roommate relationships and I get why, but itās been great so far. We had our first proper date last weekend and it was incredible, though a bit weird since weāve done that a thousand times already and this time there was a new context. At home we still do our normal thing, but sometimes we get distracted. Last night I almost burned dinner because I had to kiss him and we got kind of carried away, haha. Weāre taking the whole sex thing slow though since Iāve never done anything with another guy before.
āIām a little worried about coming out to my family and my other friends, especially since this is almost as new for me as it would be for them. My parents are very openminded and my mom especially loves Alex. But I have some more conservative family members on my dadās side, and I can already imagine them blaming Alex for turning me gay. They can also be pretty racist (Lauraās boyfriend is Latino so she knows all about that) and Alex is mixed. Itās something to think about in the longterm, I guess. Alex has said he doesnāt expect me to jump out of the closet right away, but if we end up calling ourselves a couple then Iām not going to keep him a secret or anything.
āSoā¦weāre trying. And I am not a homophobe, and nobody needed therapy. Honestly, I canāt remember the last time I was this happy, and I never would have expected this when I made that first post. Itās a good thing some of you picked up on the actual problem and tried to get it through to me despite me being an oblivious walnut, soā¦thanks, guys.ā
Funniest self-realization in the world? āPlot twist: it turns out I donāt have any problem with Alex kissing guys if itās me heās kissing.ā
