Pure bred dogs r awesome and great but truly nothing makes me happier than someone going to the shelter and getting the most pathetic generic mutt they can find and loving that dog like it is a 10,000$ national show champion
Like this is the funniest arrangement of dogs that anyone could possibly have
hey did you know that uhh

oh shit i didn't expect this to actually get notes lmao
these are all direct quotes from jeffrey jerome cohen's "monster culture (seven theses)" (full pdf linked) i highly encourage you to read it yourself!
that said, while i think cohen's writing is evocative, it can be a little dense, so while i'm here, here's my capsule summary (you can also hear me talk about this in the first episode of my podcast) (listen to @ghostswerepeopletoo)
i. the monster's body is a cultural body - The monster is a work of fiction to be analyzed through tools of literary and sociological theory.
ii. the monster always escapes - As long as the cultural fear from which the monster stems persists, the monster will reappear in retellings, reimaginings, and sequels.
iii. the monster is the harbinger of category crisis - Monsters defy binaries and challenge easy comprehension or categorization.
iv. the monster dwells at the gates of difference - The monster represents the Other.
v. the monster polices the borders of the possible - Tales of the monster exist to discourage unacceptable or taboo behaviors.
vi. fear of the monster is really a kind of desire - Subjects can vicariously participate in the disruption of the social order through the monster.
vii. the monster stands at the threshold… of becoming - Within the monster we find information about the self.
One fun fact about me is that there is a pit in the forest. It is a part of me. I do not know where my reflection ends and I begin and I am so entwined with its murky waters I have begun to wonder if I am human at all, or if I am some creation of mud and wood given life against its will. When I die look for me in the pit. I will be in there, watching you.
Visited the pit again today. The waters gone. There’s a dead bird at the bottom of it. I don’t know what this means.
I keep accidentally ending up at the pit. Like I’ll tell myself I’m not going to go to the pit and then I go to the pit. Or I get lost on the trail and end up at the pit. I’m having fucking dreams about the pit. What is with me and this pit.
When I was a kid edgy alternative teens/tweens used to draw scary gory demented vent art and it was literally fine cause it was just kids trying to act ~sick and twisted~ in like a quirky way to cope with the world like literally just reading JTHM and going “that’s so cool I wanna draw like that” but nowadays a kid can’t draw like a Nightmare Before Christmas-esque creepy face without a bunch of true crime girlies going “oh my god they’re literally the next Jeffrey Dahmer their parents need to put them under observation or something before they start murdering animals or something”
“Obsession with dark and violent things is a warning sign of being a future killer”
Have you literally ever met an emo kid? They’ll draw demons and ghouls bleeding out of every orifice and threatening each other with big knives and then cry when they find a dead bunny in their yard
cuddling

This is all I'll say

Your dog glitched
I have so many thoughts today,
On the topic of fanfiction I can barely find any male reader or even trans male sometimes and when I use the hashtag it's a female reader fanfic that uses the hashtag STOP DOING THAT and SPECIFY THE GENDER OF THE READER ALONG WITH HOW YOU'LL DESCRIBE THEM. I can't tell you how many times I'll just settle for gender neutral reader but the description screams female they'll even use she her pronouns THAT'S NOT GENDER NEUTRAL.
And if I do find male reader it's ONLY smut... where's our fluff? Where's our angst??
If you only write female reader do NOT use the male reader hashtag that's extremely distressing, if you say you're gonna make the reader gender neutral DO NOT MAKE THEIR GENDER SPECIFIC. Use they/them pronouns, they shouldn't have b00bs or pecs just a "chest"
Please PLEASE heed these words. How am I supposed to escape into fiction if it's just causing me dysphoria the whole time?
But srsly stop using the hashtag: male reader, transmale reader, or gender neutral if it's all just female.
