getting lost in boston is fun because I turned around on a street corner three times and some guy yelled "hey stupid! the bus is that way!" very helpful interaction and accurate insult, 10/10 no notes
one time I walked around a building a couple times looking for a bathroom and this guy went "this bitch thinks she's on a merrygoround, where the fuck are you tryna go? bathroom? one floor down to the right behind the door that says bathroom."
My very first time in Boston. I was absolutely miserable, trying to drag my giant suitcase up a lengthy set of stairs in the pouring rain. This guy who had already reached the top looked back at me with the most pure expression of disgust I’ve ever seen in anyone’s eyes, marched back down the stairs, grabbed my suitcase, carried it to the top, left it there for me, and walked away without ever saying a word. I think about him often.
For the people in the notes going "why is Boston like this": a) the insults are a way to show you have no ulterior motives when helping someone (and don't need to be thanked or repaid), and b) Boston was settled by the Irish
also the Italians. mixing Irish and Italian sociocultural attitudes had the effect of multiplying the Sass Levels by the power of infinity, in the sense that you get all of the clever dry wit of the Irish and all of the bitchy gossipy condensation of the Italians rolled into one very stereotypically overly-friendly American package.
also worth noting that who you are to them doesn’t matter. they’ll talk to strangers like that and will also talk to their best friends like that. they’re just Like That.

Making motivational "it's never too late to transition" posts is really undercut if the age you're highlighting is still young. Claiming that your transition was late and it worked out great for you actually makes older people more afraid to transition if you're saying that shit in your 20s. How do you think a trans person in their 50s, 60s, 70s and 80s feels when you're 23 and calling yourself a late transitioner?
It's never too late until you're in a coffin. It is worth it for a single day of being yourself, even if you're 110.

Ok but now i think what’s-his-fuck, the GOP congressman who disappeared for like 4 months, was their test case for McConnell, and McConnell is their test case for Trump to see how long they can Weekend At Bernie’s him because Vance has all the charisma of a flaming bag of dog shit.
To be fair, Random GOP Congressman is not the same level as McConnell, who in turn is not the same level as Trump. Every time Trump disappears for more than a few days, people have been ALL OVER it (not least since we are all, of course, so hungry for him to finally eat shit and die). You really can't keep the president of the US totally out of sight for more than a week before somebody somewhere is going to notice, and while they will doubtless try to stall as long as possible, they can't get away with it indefinitely. It would, however, be grimly hilarious to watch Vance try to act like a Great Statesman (TM).
As for McConnell, as I said in an earlier post, he probably has the "ratfuck my own death to cheat the Democrats out of one last seat" provision written into his will, and will die doing what he loved: being a hardcore racist obstructionist cheating fuck destroying democracy and progress for no good reason at all. I still think Andy Beshear should call their bluff, announce that he's suing to challenge the dipshit "wah wah the governor can't pick a replacement because he's a Democrat" law that the KY legislature dutifully passed on Mitch's orders, and then appoint a Black woman to McConnell's seat. Trust me, if Mitch is within a country MILE of consciousness, the screaming will be heard across ye olde Appalachians. Do it, Beshear. Doooooooooo itttttttttttt.

What helped me write trauma better is remembering that the nervous system learns predictions. If danger used to come after quiet, calm can feel threatening. If kindness used to come with a price, kindness can feel suspicious. So healing is not just “they know they’re safe now.” Healing is the slow, annoying, deeply unfair process of teaching the body that the old prediction is not always the present truth.
