they should make it easier to get bottom surgery
special mention to how the BMI requirements are horrific and they need to go!
I've been thinking a lot lately about how many trans women I've known who come to realize over time that they experience much more bottom dysphoria than they've consciously understood
I think this is partially a problem of trans women being fetishized, a trans woman's value being equated with her penis, but I think it's also partially a problem of availability. personally if something is difficult to attain then I have an internal reflex to unconsciously convince myself I don't want or need it. for this reason and many others it needs to be made easier
personally it's fucking crazy going through life not even being able to be naked around trusted loved ones or fully have sex because the dysphoria is so bad. it's unacceptable that so many of us have to live like this. it's horrible that for many trans women it's almost impossible to get the care we need. it does not have to be like this
GOD. YEAH. YUPPPP
have harry potter fans considered getting a grip on reality
-grave
Power cable linking UK and Ireland now passes near Bronze Age human burial remains instead of fictional grave on Welsh beach
Link because I couldn't believe it. Shout out to this insanity and also that people refuse to stop messing with an ecologically sensitive site.
I hate it here.
itâs amazing how women are able to navigate crowded rooms without ever touching a palm to a manâs lower back
you'd think occasionally men would need to touch other men like this to manoeuvre them out of the way but it never happens
The reason your snacks are unsatisfying is that you need both carb and protein.
Carb starts your engine, protein keeps it going.
No carb, engine donât start. No protein, engine dies out fast.
Easy carb add on:
Cookie
Fruit (canned or fresh)
Chips
Piece of bread
Popcorn
Crackers
Easy protein add on:
Nuts
Spoonful of nut butter
Cheese
Roasted chickpea snacks
Glass of milk (dairy or non dairy)
Small canned sausages or similar
Sugar in there.
I am pleased by people messaging me telling me that after adding a carb or protein to their snacks or meals they feel more satisfied all day. Yes, my plan is working. People are getting through their days with less hangry.
As if Joanne couldn't get any shittier, she misgendered and insulted a woman who called for support, all because the woman had PCOS/PMOS and "didn't sound feminine enough."
Fuck her.
Your shitty children's series isn't more important than people's lives.
This would be equally as shitty if the woman who was misgendered and insulted was trans instead of having PCOS btw
This is an official anti-JKR post
I think its pretty fucked up she's recording calls to a rape helpline tbh
side benefit of communal all-gender restrooms is that they may be our best chance to shame cis men into washing their hands
i was in a communal all-gender restroom today and as i was washing my hands a middle-aged man came out of one of the stalls, started to make for the door, clocked me standing at the sinks, and changed course to wash his hands with a real hangdog look on his face
Legalizing copyright infringement would be dismantling one of the few limitations on the white urge to steal from Black Art and Black Artists. The practical application of it would be anti-Black as fuck
this argument makes so many assumptions that I disagree with that I don't know where to start
damn asker, that's crazy and would suck. good thing we have robust IP law in the United States to prevent theft from Black artists
now to take a big sip of coffee and look up who owns Tupac Shakur's likeness
Steven Spielberg has received criticism for buying the film rights to MLK's speeches, and further controversy stems from King's estate.
In 2009, Steven Spielberg's DreamWorks company paid the estate for film rights to King's words, along with his life rights, which allow a person or company to make content based on an individual's story. DreamWorks has yet to produce or direct Spielberg's planned King biopic, but the rights have caused complications for numerous filmmakers. (Neither Spielberg's literary agent nor King's estate returned Broadly's request for comment.)
King has received only one major biopic, 2014's Selma, directed by Ava DuVernay [âŚ] Instead of using King's speeches, DuVernay wrote original monologues that sounded like soliloquies the civil rights leader could have given. [âŚ] When asked about the changes in 2014, DuVernay told the Washington Post, "We knew those rights are already gone. They're with Spielberg."
op disabled reblogs but I think the point still stands
i am not a psychiatrist but i do find it really weird how autism checklists are so often focused on "outward" signs of autism rather than what is going on internally. i don't know how to explain it but "do you make eye contact with other people" feels like a much less relevant question than "how does it feel when you have to make eye contact with other people?"
while i'm here, the other one that always pisses me off is "do you interpret idioms literally, for example 'bull in a china shop'?"
well, no, obviously. i know what "bull in a china shop" means because that is a popular phrase with a clearly defined meaning. and if i hadn't heard it before, then i would still not interpret it literally, because it has the cadence of an idiom and i would probably be able to work out from context what it meant. what is the point of this question
third and final complaint: "are you good at noticing subtext?"
i feel like the problem with this question is best illustrated by a conversation i had with a friend a while back, where i said something like, "i feel very safe with you because you don't do subtle hints and you are always very straight-up with me about what you are thinking and feeling."
and he laid a hand on my shoulder and was like, look dude i'm gonna be straight up here. i am subtle with you constantly and you simply do not notice <3
@luckyybones hope you don't mind me screenshotting but you are actually so correct
the situation with harry potter is kind of unprecedented in some ways imo because it is maybe the largest media franchise in history to be created & owned by a single person who still has direct creative control over it. who is also a billionaire with significant cultural/political influence. like the usual "no ethical consumption under capitalism" type excuses shatter on impact when the bigoted author in question is logging onto twitter every day saying explicitly that when you buy the tim hortons ravenclaw donut she is using your donut money to fund the genocide of trans people. like with big franchises usually there's at least a little more diffusion of responsibility than this

1: A reply to Paras Chopra's post which read: "Today I learned that in English: Words starting with "gl-" often related to light: gleam, glint, glance, glare, glaze, glimpse, glitter, gloss, glower, glisten, glaze, glitz, glazed. words starting with "sn-" often relate to nose: sniff, sneeze, snuff, snore, snort, snot."
Merriam-Webster replied with: "These repeated sounds are called 'phonesthemes.' 'Phonestheme' refers to a common sound occurring in a group of words with similar meanings.

2: "sw- related to a pendulum-like motion -sway -sweep -swerve -swing -swipe -swirl -swoop"
3: "sl- suggesting movement without friction -slide -slick -sled -sleek -slobber -slosh -sloppy"
4: "How do phonesthemes come about? There isn't ONE way, although some phonesthemes can be traced back to the same root. For example, the 'cl-' words appear to have come from a shared root meaning "clump together.""
5: "cl- related to the closing motion of comething -clam -clamp -clap -clasp -clench -cling -clip -clop -close -clutch"
6: "Also! Phonesthemes don't just occur at the beginnings of words: -lump -rump -hump -bump all carry the same sense of "heavy protrustion.""
7: "-whack -crack -thwack all convey audible striking. Pretty fun, right??"

I think we should figure out what age weâre living in now so we can say how itâs collapsing to each other
Our age of plastics is collapsing
Our age of information is collapsing! *remembers generative AI, nods to self* our age of information is collapsing.
i think it was kind of a major failing to frame the self diagnosis issue around whether it's "valid" or not rather than the fact that unless an official diagnosis is necessary for you to access actually beneficial pharmaceuticals/treatment, accomodations or disability benefits, you should actively avoid on-paper diagnosis for your basic safety and access to care
side note, teaching myself to pronounce that last one felt like learning a new fucking language
hey so uh next year will be a decade of dobonhonkeros. how about that shit huh.
There are many people who donât share this sentiment, but I have an appreciation for when a fanfic is so separated from canon that it couldâve easily been its own original novel, and yet the author was only ever going to put that much energy into it if their favourite characters got to be there
I think thereâs a difference between âthe author stripped the media of everything it had to replace it with something easyâ and âthe author thought up a concept they really really like and are bestowing it upon the character like a medalâ
I was debating pre- and post- smartphone existentialism with an older gentleman today and he stopped part way through and said âWhy are you a security guard? Why arenât you teaching this at some college somewhere?â And I didnât know what to say so I went with âWell I used to make art but nobody pays an artistâ
I want to invoke thought and wonder and introspection and encourage the passions of every soul I meet forever and ever and dig until I find the glorious potential for creation and experience and joy in every single one but unfortunately I must pay rent and so I stand, a meat shield, an NPC with unlockable dialogue
