The first rule of fandom is have fun. The second rule of fandom is find an enabler and become an enabler. Yes you should write that fic. What if it was even hornier? What if it was angstier? What if you wrote it just for me?

"grackle" really is a perfect name for a bird. knocked it out of the park w/ that one
a thing about me is i basically never notice a wig or other kind of hairpiece in tv/movies. it has to be party city territory for me to even twig it. people will complain about characters' wigs looking bad and i will nod along but there is like a 90% chance i did not notice for a second while watching. i consider this mostly a blessing.

This. This is the online friend experience.
#me to a person i've known for 5 years: remind me what your gender is
straight people: i love you.
gay people: strike me down. youāve won. iāve lived my whole wretched life at your mercy, yours alone, and God knows i deserve to die at your hand. you are my only friend. i am undone without you.
sex testing isn't making people discover that they're intersex, it's making people intersex. if someone's sex characteristics are imperceptibly different to what sex defines they should have, it wouldn't have placed them in a different social category until both the technology and the drive to test were there. ppl just don't really believe that sex categories are also socially constructed and fluid. things like hormone levels naturally wildly range between people before it gets to a point where someone looks noticeably "different" for their sexāa cafab person with testosterone levels deemed high today would not have been intersex 200 years ago unless they displayed noticeably masculinised features, because nobody would have known anyone's testosterone levels and therefore can't use that as a basis for treating someone differently!
im not saying we shouldn't be calling out hypocrisy but i do think it's important to be aware of what i call the Two Different Guys Fallacy. and that's that whenever you're thinking to yourself, oh how come X group claim they want this thing but also support that other incompatible thing. take a moment to stop and consider whether it could just be Two Different Guys that think each thing
really tired of seeing the idea that women & girls are less likely to be diagnosed with autism because it "presents differently" so widely accepted even in progressive spaces
it is also widely accepted that women get raises less often because they don't ask as much as men. this is objectively not true.
it is also widely accepted that women are more talkative than men. this is objectively not true.
it is also widely accepted that women are taken less seriously when speaking because their speech patterns are associated with a "lack of confidence". this is objectively not true. [1][2][3]
every time we talk about gender discrimination, people look for an explanation that starts with women's behavior.
and every fucking time, actual research shows that across the board, women actually don't behave that differently from men.
women aren't diagnosed less often with autism due to "presenting differently". it's gendered medical neglect, and weaponized diagnoses disproportionately applied to women (e.g. BPD, HPD, bipolar, etc.)

Started using the phrase āthatās cilantro to meā to refer to the presence of a story element that completely ruins a piece of media for me, disproportionate to its actual badness.

Do you threaten murder on everyone who gives you book recommendations?
it was ayn rand...
āWhat if you burned it all down and started overā¦and then pretended that you hadnāt? What if you insisted on locating your ideals and your identity in the old order that you had already rejectedāthat, in fact, you had overthrown and destroyed by force? That should seem deeply odd. Yet this is what we do with the most fundamental question of American identity. We tell ourselves a story that links us to a past political regime āFounding America, the America of the Declaration of Independence and the Founderās Constitutionāto which we are not the heirs. We are more properly the heirs of the people who destroyed that regime.ā
-Kermit Roosevelt III, The Nation that Never Was.
Iām back on my Kermit 2nd Founding bullshit and I will never stop being tickled with how heās able to take the argument of every left wing social studies teacher and of William Lloyd Garrison to its best and most logical conclusion: the Declaration and the āfounders constitutionā suck shit but hooray hooray we are the heirs of the people who killed it with bullets on a hot day in Pennsylvania.
