Being bi and just recently figuring it out, I'm really starting to realize how much it pisses me off that it's somehow accepted in a lot of queer spaces to just write men off as unlovable. It's done to both cis and trans men, and tbh it's really fucking bothering me. Why do we put up with that? Why do we just let people write off almost half the fucking population? It's shit. Just cause it isn't a form of institutional bigotry like misogyny or homophobia doesn't make it right, doesn't mean there's a good reason to hurt people like that.

idk, I just think it's innately wrong to call anybody unlovable for their gender; didn't realize that'd be controversial. At the same time though, treating people as less worthy of care and compassion for something so simple seems to be depressingly normalized, so much so that I didn't always bat an eye at it.

It ain't right, yall deserve love too, and care, and tenderness, and affection. Don't for a second feel that you don't.

Anyhow, rant over I guess; just fucking treat people well.

you know its telling how few people on the internet actually spend time outdoors in general and around actual gay men in particular

because to hear even Tumblr the "gay gender website" talk people only wear harnesses while strapped into a sex swing while being fisted

but the reality is that the harness, both leather and spandex, in gay male world is like stiletto pumps, a bright red lip stick, a short skirt or push up bra.

sure some people are wearing those things because they're about to get laid or hoping to. But lots of people wear them just to feel sexy, confident or powerful. And there's nothing X rated and "shouldn't be seen in public" about any of that.

lots of gay guys wear harnesses to bars or clubs not because its a sex thing, but because its a sexy thing, they feel attractive and confident.

I get that gay men feeling attractive and confident terrifies people, but if you're at Pride and a guy walks past you in jeans and a harness, either shirtless or over his shirt, he didn't violate your civil rights or do a sex thing in front of you, he's wearing a totally appropriate outside that makes him feel confident and powerful.

Sable (Martes zibellina)! Sables are an Eurasian species of martens. They're arboreal mustelids whose closest relatives are wolverines, tayras and fisher cats.

You know... even thought I always knew mustelids were caniformes (as in, carnivorans more closely related to canids rather than felids) l've personally always thought that martens were more feline than canine in appearance, what with their climbing skills and triangular ears and whatnot. Upon watching this video, though, l'd like to formally retract this sentiment: that's the most doggy sound I've ever heard coming from an animal who's most definitely not a dog!

what people don’t realize about tumblr sexymen is a character being called one is a [bad] thing. the label was originally applied to characters that were lusted over by straight women who refused to engage with any other character who wasn’t a white twink. that’s why oncest exists. that’s why those bill cipher and wheatley gijinkas exist.

sans was a special case because people preferred his original design (short and not conventionally attractive) however the “refusal to engage with any other character” was very much still there like look at all of the AUs that were made specifically because of him.

the amount of mischaracterisation a character has to go through in order to truly count as a sexyman (and there’s about 20 sexymen proper) would cause most people to have a brain aneurysm like it sucks so bad.

times have drastically changed since the onceler, and the range of characters people hype up is far more diverse than it once was. the time period in which a character was most popular (between 2012 - 2018) is the most fundamental part in making them a sexyman.

this is why any sexyman poll made after the one that killed queen lizzy is completely null to me. 90% of the characters in them are just regular fan favourites like get this common real life dude out of there. if you could talk about liking a character with a coworker and not get viciously made fun of by them then that character is not a sexyman like that’s the full truth of the matter.

(this is also why anime boys like reigen and komaeda often count. hate for anything anime-based outside of the internet was especially egregious before 2020)

also. there is a huge distinction between “sexy man” and sexyman. this is why senshi does not count. Because he is genuinely sexy. My final message. Goodbye

The city I was born into has been known for ages as "Cidade da Garoa" aka City of the Drizzle, because it's climate always resulted in frequent drizzles for most of the year, only temperature changing.

I'm turning 40 next month. I remember in my lifetime, just a decade ago, when there was still snow in the midwest. Multiple snowstorms a year. I remember all the bugs. I remember the lightning bugs in the summer, all the wailing cicadas in the summer, the dozens and dozens of june bugs gathered around the front porch. All gone. I don't hear cicadas like that anymore. THey used to be so loud you couldn't hear anything, you had to shout over them to be heard. You don't see lightning bugs anymore, except maybe one or two. Bugs all over your windshield, never see that anymore. Snow, what's that? Now people call days in the winter that are 20 or below "unusual" when it's like, that used to be normal. There used to be days below zero or at zero and that was normal. THere used to be snow all the time that stuck around for days and days and days. Gone. It's 70s outside in the winter and people says "it's so nice out!" and I just feel sad and scared because that is NOT NORMAL! I can't believe how fast this happened. I knew climate change was a thing. I learned about it in elementary school and middle school, but for it to unfold in my 20s? My 30s? That fast??? Holy shit.

If you've seen this TikTok you know that a 2016 study showed that 50% of medical students and residents thought that black people couldn't feel pain the same as white people.

And we learned from this video that because of a 1999 study, to this day, there's a black correction factor for the creatinin levels in black people's kidneys, meaning we're less likely to recieve a kidney transplant if needed.

So if you go to a doctor, feel you aren't getting proper treatment or they refuse the treatment you've requested, say to them the following:

I will need you to document on record that you are refusing the treatment (or medicine) I've requested, and the reason you are doing so."

This works. I have used it in other situations. If medical staff have to document and take responsibility and be on the hook legally for doing shady shit they behave much differently.
