So the people supposedly against gender roles are mad when people break gender roles?
yes. the belief in gender as a key aspect of idenity, inherently enforces gender roles. this is because gender is not based on any tangible thing, it is entirely based on internal perceptions and ideas. these ideas are often based on stereotypes or are so abstract they cannot be widely applied to society.
in addition the criteria for gender dysphoria can be problematic as it assumes a dominant female/male gender that is hegemonic in society to an extreme. it also implies that non conformnity to these stereotpyes is a outlier and something associated with mental illness and the need for medicalisation.
truth is most people are not against gender stereotypes in the way they think, most people can recognise that the conservative view of girl=pink is reductive however gender stereotypes are much more extensive than that. Also some trans people do genuinly think that being a women who doesnt shave, wears mens clothes and has short hair is indicative of a trans man in denial. you see this a lot with 'egg' culture which is about trans people in the closet so to say.
Addendum: a culture having what the activists love to call âthird gendersâ only proves how rigid their stereotyping is and not how open they are to nuances.
