i donât really think the relationship between generation z and millennials is comparable to the relationship between baby boomers and millennials
mostly because largely speaking. baby boomers are the parents of millennials but millennials arenât the parents of generation z
your older sibling telling you youâre an idiot for eating laundry detergent just isnât the same thing as your parents berating you for not having a job in a shitty economy
Gen Z and Millennials are like Millennials and Gen X. The youngest of them and the oldest of us overlap, we have some definite shared cultural trauma, and by and large Gen X was very hopeful and supportive of us when we were still mostly kids, even if they didnât âgetâ us. (they still are supportive in my experience but weâre all jaded af right now)
And every Millennial I know feels p much the same about Gen Z at large.
Meanwhile Boomers are and have been largely very condescending towards all three of us.
what on earth
please if you do anything useful in your life, donât scroll past this

PLEASE
tchaikovsky is proud
In case anyone is baffled by this, thereâs a Tchaikovsky piece in which thereâs supposed to be a loud sound but he never specified what you should use to make that sound. People have done all kinds of weird shit depending on how they think the sound should, well, sound. Hitting a large piece of wood with a sledgehammer is a relatively conventional one.
Prompt I will never do anything with: instead of being given to the Dursleys, Harry Potter is put up for adoption and is adopted by the Addams Family
Gomez, being forcibly removed from the stands of a Hogwarts quidditch match for the third time: MY BOY! MY BOYâS UP THERE! HEâS SEEKER!
McGonagall, sweating: Mr. Addams, how do you keep sneaking onto grounds
As I said to @door :
Wednesday is woefully jealous of how dramatic Harry's origin is and fiercely protective of him, only SHE is allowed to torture him
Harry's hair would be more slicked back and shinier than Draco could ever hope to achieve Harry still gets sorted into Gryffindor Morticia says he gets that from Gomez' side of the family
Meanwhile Wednesday gets into Hogwarts as well,
*During House assigning*
Professor McGonnagal: Wednesday Addams.
Wednesday *begins to get up*
Sorting hat: Yeah no, no, sit back down kid. Youâre Slytheren. I have never been more sure of anything in my existence.
*Later at Slytheren dorm*
Draco: Well look, if it isnât Potterâs little Mudblood sister, listen up you little...
Wednesday: *Shoots Malfoy a glare which instantly silences him.* You will listen to me and listen carefully. I do not like repeating myself. Harry is off limits. In fact, everyone in Gryffondor is off limits, that goes for the rest of you. If you cause ANY trouble for my adopted brother, you will answer directly to me. Is this understood?
Draco:...Yes mum.
*Later in potions class*
Snape: Potter, you were two seconds late, twenty points from Gryffondor.
Wednesday: *Picks up beaker and smashes it on the floor.* Professor Snape. I have wilfully destroyed school property. I believe that is a twenty point deduction from Slytheren house.
Snape: Did you? Well I didnât see it so.
Wednesday: *Gets up, walks to the front of the class, looking Snape in the eye the entire time, smashes another beaker on the ground right in front of him.* Twenty. Points. From Slytheren.
Snape:..... Alright then twenty points from Slytheren.
Wednesday: *Returns to seat, still glaring at Snape*
Snape: Now before we get on with classes I have the results of last weeks pop quiz, fairly expected stuff, Mr. Weasley you did adequate, but your penmanship was atrocious which is...
Wednesday *Grabs another beaker and holds it up with a look on her face that says âI can keep this up as long as you can old manâ*
Snape:....Something you should work on in the future.
*Later*
Draco: Canât you just expel her professor?
Snape: Well I could in theory, but considering her muggle father keeps somehow sneaking in here I think whether she has permission to be here or not is rather Academic. Besides, Iâm not crossing her after what she did to Umbridge.
Draco: *Shudders* Donât remind me.
This is one of those posts I'm going to watch for hopefully in future to see what awesome new additions it gets. Go on Tumblr, be brilliant!
please keep me informed as well
I just imagined the third book when they learn Sirius Black is trying to kill Harry, and is his godfather.
Gomez: well that makes him family, we must invite him over.
Harry: but father, everyone says he's trying to kill me.
Gomez: oh, of course, how thoughtless of me. Lurch, put away the swords for guests and sharpen up the good swords we use for special occasions! A relative visiting is one thing, but a murderous relative needs to be celebrated.
Harry: thank you, father.
XD and as soon as they find sirius is innocent hed be welcomed into the family with open arms.
Can you imagine the Addams during the fight at the ministry of magic or at hogwarts?
Gomez with a sword
Mortitia with man eating plants
Pugsley with explosives
Wednesday just keeps pulling bigger and bigger weapons out of those tiny pockets on her dress. She has a wand but never uses it!
A death eater turns a corner and she's inexplicably there with a cannon!
Okay but the Addams Family going off on Dumbledore for all the BS he put Harry through without warning him like he could have. (Because fuck that shit. Destiny/fate my ass.)
Just...just all of this... Mortisha: So how was your first year of schooling children? Wensday: *pouting* Harry got to see a 3 headed dog and play with it. Harry: Only a little! Gomez: Oh how fun! Maybe we should look into getting one or 2!
All the yes
How am I only just finding this, this is brilliant
When they find out Lupin was fired for being a werewolf they offer him a place to stay. Granmama brews his wolfbane potion every month, better than Snape!
And they start calling him "cousin Remus" before the end of the second week.
Hagrid, of course, is always welcome in their house along with any creatures heâs adopted and needs to hide from the authorities.
after the huge amazing response I got from my ace!Jiang Cheng comic - all of the ace people saying how amazing it felt to be acknowledged, and all of the people who came to me saying that they hadnât realised they were ace until they read the comic - I decided I wanted to make something for ace awareness week. itâs not quite as pretty or feelsy as the other comic, but there are so many people even within the LGBT+ community who just⊠genuinely do not understand asexuality, I figured even something basic would help :)
happy ace awareness week! please remember: everyoneâs experience with sexuality is different! be kind and support each other!

queer is such a great word
I donât know what young or new LGBTQIA++ person needs to see this, but queer is a wonderful word. Itâs not a bad word, itâs not a slur, and you donât need to be afraid to use it or scared of it.
Itâs a word for when we donât quite know what we are. Or when what we know about ourselves is complicated, and we need a quick explanation. Or when we donât need to share more. Or sometimes itâs just the best fit.
Itâs the word where everyone is welcome, itâs the word for building a community. Itâs a word for thinking, a word for doing, a word. Queer is the community yâall.
Queer is the word that protected me for decades as I figured out who I was and still protects me when I want to speak and be seen without being forced to come out in specificity to random strangers.

YALL SEE HOW MADHOUSE INC PRODUCES MIRACLES??????? LOOK AT THE ANIMATION
GOD
THEREâS NO FUCKING WAY IâM MISSING THIS NOW.
anime is saved
Iâm literally brought to near tears when i realize how much this work has grown.
In 2009 the series started as a webcomic self-published and drawn by  author under the moniker âONEâ. (Chapter 17) â
In 2012 the series garned so much attention it was later redrawn in manga format by Murata Yuusuke (Eyeshield 21).(Chapter 18)Â â
And finally in 2015 the series became so popular in got an anime. So over the course of 6 years, ONE went from a modest webcomic artist as a side hobby to a well recieved author with both a manga and an anime.Â
â While you may be running down hard on yourself for quality- or unsure if you should bother pursuing your simple talents- thereâs always a chance that one of your talent- even the ones you might not think of- could amass something great. â
I just reblogged this but i felt the need to mention: animation runs at 24 frames per second and depending on the style, it can be shot with each image held for one frame, 2 frames, or 3 frames. Animated movies like Disneyâs work are done on 1âČs, but itâs extremely time consuming and expensive to do.   American cartoons that you see on TV are generally drawn on 2âČs to save time, money, and effort. Japanese animation is generally done on 3âČs because itâs easiest and cheapest and theyâve mastered ways to make cheap but still appealing animation.
Iâm mentioning this all right now because I want to make something very clear:
this entire sequence is drawn on 1âČs.
As a reader, I am sincerely so grateful for fanfiction. There are so many fantastic and talented writers out there, pouring their hearts and souls into their work, giving fans the content they crave, sharing their love of these worlds and characters. But letâs be honest, the pressure to create is hard enough without a pandemic weighing on you. So it doesnât matter if you are creating right now or not - you are amazing. Every single one you!
As an author, I canât tell you how much it means, how it fills my heart, to have people thank me for my writing, and tell me that it has brought them joy in these troubling times. You both motivate and sustain me. Every last kudos and comment has brought me more happiness than I can express.Â
So whether you are a content creator, author, a fan, blogger, or readerâŠ
Thank you all.Â
You are valid, and you are appreciated.
HERE IT IS. THE HUMAN SACRIFICE
hey guys did you know my ancestors built floating islands and gardens for sustainable farming? yes we were architectural geniuses actually! they were called chinampas and you should look them up THEYâRE GORGEOUS
did you know the mexica empire was one of the first people to implement a system of universal compulsory education? every child was educated regardless of their social status
REMEMBER THE HUMAN SACRIFICES
also did you know that in Tenochtitlan we mastered the art of aqueducts and built a gigantic one called Chapultepec that ran for three miles and poured water into public fountains and reservoirs? Because of the city being interconnected by lakes, we constructed a revolutionary dam, the largest earthwork in the Americas at the time, and it was fitted with doors which could be raised or lowered to control the level of water behind it!! fucking awesome
HOW ABOUT THOSE SACRIFICES THO
Did you know my ancestors knew how to perform surgeries with anesthesia? Our physicians did all kind of medicinal research and had extensive knowledge of medicinal herbs and plans, for example they used the sap from the maguey tree as a disinfectant and to heal wounds; and argemone mexicana as a painkiller. Research it- itâs amazing!!
KIDS DONâT FORGET ABOUT THE SACRIFICE
also whatâs hilarious to me is the two white colonizers reacting to it in visceral horror when they were responsible for the genocide of 23 million of our people- 95% of our populationâŠ. let that sink in
And @ all the colonizers trying to debate me on this you can continue to vilify brown cultures who practiced cannibalism and human sacrifice while calling the Greeks âcerebralâ and âpinnacles of human societyâ and they too practiced human sacrifice
And I will continue reminding you that your (WHITE EUROPEAN) ancestors consumed mummies, and yet why is it that Victorians are not called âsavageâ and âbarbarians?â
Weâre not debating the ethics of cannibalism and sacrifice, weâre talking about double standards and racism
the histories of sacrifice and cannibalism in indigenous religions are taught through a lens of colonization, racism, and anti-native propaganda to justify the genocide of millions of indigenous people
most of the information about the mexica (aztecâs) practice of human sacrifice come from hernĂĄn cortĂ©s, you know, the man that genocided 95% percent of the mexica
indigenous practices deserve respect and respect does not mean you have to agree with the practice or that they are above reproach but it does mean that you listen to what indigenous people tell you about it. it means you shut the fuck up about the things you donât know and listen
you need to check your own biases and prejudices because you were likely taught by a non-native person and those biases do shape how you perceive indigenous cultures as less then white cultures and therefore subject those biases onto indigenous people
itâs why your first knee-jerk reaction to posts like mine will be to call me savage and barbaric when you do not even know the word for cannibalism in my language or that we had a very advanced culture (which was the point of my commentary in the first place)
do your research! a 5 minute wikipedia scroll and your AP history textbook does not count as research. seek out resources that are not written from the perspectives of white spaniards or non-native people and maybe youâll learn something
Itâs ridiculous that colonizers think that my ancestors were these barbaric savages because of careful ritual practicesÂ
like okay Cordelia, continue huffing mummy powder pip pip cheerio
I could write a whole essay about this, but.
Fanfiction as a collective exists as a combination of the ideal state and all the broken pieces that are left behind. Fanfiction shows us all the things that should have happened, if the world was a little bit kinder: someone adopts Harry Potter, the Avengers live domestically together, people fall in love and admit it. Fanfiction says, things are awful but weâre kind anyway, because we can be, because kindness costs little and gives much. It is democracy at its best, a collection of people solving problems together, solving plotholes and heartbreaks and deaths, a conversation of solution responding to solution because the whole of fandom is, itself, its own canon.
But at the same time, fanfiction is about all of those holes and jagged edges and wounds left unhealed, about what happens when the war is over and everyone whoâs left needs to go back home. Itâs about the fact that surviving is usually the hardest part, and we rarely get to choose whatâs done to us but we do get to choose how we survive afterwards. Itâs about the child soldiers who no longer have a war, and about the trauma of getting past the trauma youâve survived. Itâs about injury and depression and PTSD. Itâs about recovery, yes, but also about those things that do not recover, those things that will never recover. It is a reminder that we live in a world where many people donât get white picket fences and 2.5 kids and a happily ever after, but also a reminder that there is life beyond that, survival, yes, but also life. It is a reminder that charactersâ lives donât end with the last page and nor too do peopleâs lives end with their trauma, but that after that hurt comes comfort and healing and putting one foot in front of another because the best way to get through hell is to keep going.
do you ever see people, in october 2020, talking about, like, hanging out with their friends and getting drinks with people and going on dates and hooking up with people and hanging out in coffee shops and going to the gym and realize that some people are living in a completely different reality than you are
âI think you can relate to it when youâre young, our age, and when youâre older. Thereâs always one person in the room that you want to see you. Thereâs one person that you really wish could actually see you and that person rarely puts their eyes on you. I think thatâs the thing between them, they wanted to be seen by one specific person and thatâs a very beautiful drama.â âMads Mikkelsen on Hannibal & Willâs relationship
(âCamille Norton, from Night Swimming; Corruption)
I said the same thing yesterday, what right-minded person looks at the piles of dead bodies and all the civil unrest and rampant racism and rollbacks of rights and says âhmm yes four more years of this, pleaseâ
define gerrymandering but in a way that i can understand
10.10.20. Washington DC
BLM protests continue, over 120 days now. DC protesters have been in the streets for months to defund the police. In response to calls to defund the police, the police have increased their brutality. How could reform work on those who abuse power to maintain it?
âStill protesting bc police reaction to protests against police brutality is police brutalityâ
it's interesting how I haven't seen news coverage about it in months. I wasn't even aware they were still ongoing.
people drop everything as soon as it isn't trendy.
It's not that people are dropping it; it's more like corporate media making a conscious choice not to cover the ongoing protests.
