Small Update

I dropped my laptop a couple of days ago now, maybe a week?, and it cracked the screen which I'm super not happy about but I also don't have the money to fix it or get a new laptop either so I just gotta deal with it. Unfortunately because my laptop is a touch screen the crack is causing some user interface issues (my touchpad mouse doesn't work, the touchscreen doesn't work, and my bluetooth mouse now glitches out and I have to restart my whole laptop to get it to stop). All that to say I apologize for those expecting updates for my works on Ao3.

I am NOT ABANDONING my works, let me make that perfectly clear. However, I don't know how long it will be until I can get these tech issues sorted out. They aren't the biggest issue but they give me a bit of a headache when I have to deal with them. I am in the process of writing Chapter 4 for Upright, I have the start of Chapter 2 drafted for These Sands of Time, as well as some additional later chapters drafted for both that should hopefully allow those chapters to be written quicker.

As for my Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora fic The Right Decision, I have no earthly idea on when I will be publishing another chapter of that. I have several ideas for expanding that work but I'm experiencing some writer's block with getting those ideas out.

I mentioned that I'm working on a longer fic for my DeadTired Draft that I posted a while ago and I am in fact working on that. I also have no idea when that will be published but please note that I will always post an update to my Tumblr Blog on when I post on my Ao3 account.

That's all from me for now, I don't know how many of those who are waiting on updates for those fics will read this but if you do I hope I can reassure you that I have no intention of abandoning those works.

and to the children in the notes saying we need this fucking baby talk to get around censorship online; there's been no credible evidence that any site other that YouTube (which will only demonetize your video, ftr) will actually censor or hide content that include words like rape, pedophile, gun, terrorist, etc. etc. and even if we take as a given they were (which, again, they are not), do not fucking comply in advance, you absolute fucking coward. and ESPECIALLY do not comply by altering your real life fucking vocabulary. don't let the technocrats dictate what words you say holy fucking shit dude!!!!!!!!!!!!

Another thing about light pollution and adjacent things is. They threatened my area with rolling blackouts last winter. Now this was of course largely because the AI datacenters are hogging all the electricity, but in the notifications about it they always specified that that residential areas would be the blacked out areas. Not offices. Not businesses. If you're at home and freezing, well, you can just go loiter in a McDonald's I guess. Never mind that this is extremely difficult for disabled people and often not allowed for pets.

Well, as winter turned into spring, I started biking home from work. A long, circuitous route that took me through residential areas, and past offices and businesses. Offices and businesses that were closed for the day. And yet their signs were still lit up. The lights were still on inside. There were TVs playing in empty breakrooms. All the computers in the school district offices stayed on, their monitors not even going to sleep, all night. Paused to take a break in an empty strip mall once and when I leaned against the glass of a restaurant I could hear the music still playing inside.

Like. There's something deeply rotten about the priorities here. These places that are so flagrantly wasting electricity will never be subject to the rolling blackouts that could freeze you out of your home. Not even at night, when no one is there, when they don't need their lights on. Their waste is prioritized over normal people's life.

if you work in a creative field...or if you do creative hobbies like writing or drawing...you need to make friends with people who don't do those things. you need to befriend normie Steve who has never written a story in his life. and this is because when you are in a creative job or hobby and spend all your time doing that thing, surrounded by very capable people, who you inevitably compare your own progress and skills to, you forget what the baseline human skill at that thing is. and it's usually zero. normie Steve has not written a story since the 3rd grade when his teacher made him do it. he's very good at other things that are not storytelling - but if you tell normie Steve that you wrote a full 300-page book from start to finish, he will think you're some kind of savant. he does not know ANYONE else who has done this. you need this perspective. because when you're constantly on Let's Write Stories dot Com then everyone on Let's Write Stories dot Com will inevitably be like "oh of course everyone on earth has written a book or several at this point!" and you canNOT let yourself think that. that is not even close to the average human experience. you are in a bubble. do not put yourself down. do not give up.

Kinda wild people went from "wow jax is kind of a dick but it's okay because he's funny" and then transfem jax was made canon and they rapidly switched to "ACTUALLY JAX IS AN ABUSIVE MONSTER LOOK HOW HE/SHE TREATS ALL THE OTHER CIRCUS MEMBERS! ABUSIVE! IRREDEEMABLE MONSTER!"
