Hyperfixation is an intense fixation on certain activities or interests, but can include eating habits, too. This means some people may only eat a specific food or meal for a while, before becoming tired of it and moving on to a different food or meal. (x) This phenomenon is common among neurodivergent individuals, such as people with autism and adhd.
Safe Food is a food that brings autistic people joy, comfort, and peace when eating it. Same food is a food that we have grown so attached to that we can, or do, eat it every day. It is very normal for safe food to also be same food. (x) Because of sensory issues, a safe food can be a way to guarantee stability, safety and satisfaction when eating.
