Mspec Identities

Ok I'm just gonna talk about mspec identities a bit here and why there's so many labels, and what they all can mean cuz I didn't really know why at first we had so many different labels but now I do!

Here's a chart I found helpful(I forgot who made it or where its from) It's not quite exact though. Its just to help visualise.

Bi- Attraction to two or more genders not necessarily all but can be all. Or (but not necessarily) attraction to your own gender and others

This can be anything from just men and women(binary genders) to one binary gender and nonbinary genders, or both binary genders and nonbinary!

Pan-Attraction to all genders, not necessarily but can be attracted to masculinity/androgyny/femininity in the same way

Omni-Attraction to all genders or attracted to masculinity/androgyny/femininity in different ways

I've heard both Pan and Omni defined many different ways. Usually with one as attraction regardless of gender/attraction to all without preference and one as all but still has preference. With which being which swapped around. And not everyone defines it this way. So I've tried to define it the best I could.

Ply-Attraction to multiple genders but not all

Ply like Bi can include a couple genders but I believe is used to get away from the idea of being attracted to both binary genders which is common with Bi but not always the case. So Ply could be attraction to one binary gender and not the other and also nonbinary genders. Or just nonbinary genders. Fun fact, Polysexual is shortened to Ply not Poly to not be confused with Polynesian. And to prevent even further confusion I prefer to shorten Polyamorous as Polyam.

So mspec identities s are similar in the sense that they are attractions to multiple genders but they're not anymore a subset of Bi than Demi is a subset of Ace. They're just on the same spectrum while not being exactly the same. So remember none of these are more "woke" then the other or should be used to erase the other, they're just different options to help people define their attraction and not everyone defines them the same way. Just identify with what fits you best.

I use Bi because I'm attracted to femininity/masculinity/androgyny in different ways in different amounts or attracted to my own plus other genders. I suppose Ommi or Pan could also do but I'm not sure I'm necessarily attracted to all genders, Bi just fits the best for me personally.

You can if you want to be. It's just a label. And labels are personal its only up to you. I personally really like bi and omni. Oh and here's a much better diagram for this I've been working on. Also heres a page from The Trevor Project that may be helpful it has some pretty good definitions on bi+/m-spec labels
