Poetry Commissions

Hey, guys. Things are a bit tight right now so I’m opening commissions for my poetry. Just DM me or send me an ask to ask for something! I’m accepting payments on ko-fi and Paypal (but feel free to buy me a coffee anytime without commissioning).

Pricing: $1 (USD) for any four non-rhyming stanzas. Rhyming is an extra 50c per stanza. Half of the payment is required up front and the other half upon completion.

Things I will write about: Virtually anything. Pets, love, friendship, space, fandoms, even bread. As long as it’s not on the off-limits list, I’ll do my best to do it justice.

Things I won’t write about: Any NSFW, incest, rape, pedophilia, or anything resembling torture porn. I will also not be writing about depression, suicide, or self-harm. I have the right to refuse any commission if it makes me uncomfortable.

One of the biggest influences on the way I currently see gender and sex and transgender identity was one tiny sentence

When I was talking to my top surgeon, he mentioned that he'd done top surgery on a butch lesbian. She identified fully as a woman, she just wanted a flat chest.

And that... blew my mind. My own desire for a dick and a flat chest is in a guy way, but the freedom of knowing that it doesn't HAVE to be a guy way, that you can just want a body and have it -

That not only is gender presentation in clothes and so forth mix and match, you can treat your body that way too, not only does your gender not have to 'match' your assigned body your chosen gender doesn't have to 'match' your chosen body because all that really matters, on any of it, is what feels right to you -

I was full up on "you can be trans without wanting to change x part of your body" but learning that that could also apply the other way around was what blew my mind and shifted my whole understanding of identity.

the number of people in the replies who think that outrage against satanic aesthetics is somehow justified fucking blows my mind. it’s 2021. the satanic panic is over girl.

lil nas x, a gay black man, using satanic aesthetics is an intentional choice to create social commentary. jazz and rock n roll, styles of music invented and developed by black people, were called devil music. queer people are constantly maligned as being in legion with the devil. this is exactly the kind of trope he is invoking and subverting here.

it’s also worth considering why the blood of a gay black man may be seen as more “unclean” in comparison to that of a straight white man—like perhaps gay black men were particularly at risk during the AIDS crisis.

lil nas x understands what he’s doing and he’s right to point out the double standard.

lastly: if you’re christian and you’re offended by someone utilizing satanic aesthetics in the 21st century, all i can do is laugh. your religion has dominated the globe for centuries. christians have wiped out countless indigenous belief systems and subjugated all sorts of “heathen” peoples. if the people you’ve stigmatized by calling us devil worshipers want to take your boogeyman and make him sexy or transgressive, it’s our prerogative.

For the record Liquid Death are actually super cool and do some cool stuff, like the charity work with these skateboards, but their Aesthetic doesn’t exactly scream “good God-fearing Christians” either, so the double standard is pretty evident

So this particular reddit user - and from what I understand, most of the users on that subreddit, are just alt-right freaks making absurd shit up specifically so people share them to dunk on like this. Essentially, it’s CHUDs and fascists trying to push anyone out of the sort of alternate spirituality/spiritualism stuff so that they can co-opt that space as a path to get younger/less in the loop people into shit like racial purity/proper “values”/other fascist talking points. I’ve seen this going around a lot on twitter and tumblr dunking on it for just being “Oh white women are wild with their weird witch bullshit” which definitely has a basis in reality - a lot of white women have in fact co-opted and white washed a lot of aspect of spirituality and mysticism stemming from native peoples/POC - but that seed is enough doubt for fascists to push this shit to their own advantage.

It’s fair to dunk on dumb shit like this because a lot of the time it’s just weirdos on the internet being weird, but it’s also something to be wary of; fascists are only going to continue to become more and more adept at getting their bullshit viral without most people knowing it is at all associated with the far/alt-right. In the same way a lot of the stories you may hear online about “Crazy Queer/Trans/Nonbinary/etc. People” that try to portray themselves as real things that happen are often just bigots making up absurd-but-potentially-believable stories to push the idea of LGBTQ+ people being somehow bad or different or dangerous or whatever inherently, fascists will do the same with any group that isn’t them, only they’ve been doing shit like that for years so it’s much, much harder to spot.

For the record, this is something that fooled me too, I didn’t realize it until seeing other people talk about it, so I hope this doesn’t come off as patronizing or insulting to explain or anything.

I taught my kid that swear words (important note: this does not include derogatory names for groups of people) are just words that can carry a social consequence. When you are a child, this consequence isn’t on you, as much as it is on your parents, who are responsible for you. As such, parents usually just ask their kids not to swear. Instead of that, I told him to ask me before he swore so I could explain the potential social consequences and we could make the decision together. So far, he’s asked a handful of times if he could swear at Trump while we watched the news. I found this perfectly acceptable, so he got to say “Ｆｕｃｋ trump”. Once when he dislocated his knee, he asked to swear - I said yea, he yelled “HOLY SHIT OUCH” and I asked if it made him feel better, he said it did. Once in traffic someone almost hit us and he asked to swear, I said yes - he said “That guy is an ASSHOLE” and I was like, yeah. 100% he was. He’s never asked to swear at a time that I felt was inappropriate. I have 0 regrets about this parenting decision.

Okay so yes we need to put more money into education in the US but y'all this SPECIFIC line of thinking has much less to do with public education and everything to do with the evangelical war on science.
