guy who's having gauzy idealized wife flashbacks for the whole adventure but it turns out she isn't dead or anything he just really misses her and wants to get home

I don't know; I kind of think that our culture is based around systematic denial of human limitations. I mean, there's the eight-hour work day (which is about 4 hours longer than most people are consistently able to remain productive); buffing your qualifications on job applications (which everyone needs to do to some extent, because everyone else is doing it); the expectation of multitasking, even though it's not really possible; academics are running around with impostor syndrome, ultimately because there's only so many books that an individual is capable of reading, while a bunch of liars and grifters pretend that they're experts at *everything* and are held up as thought leaders. Billionaires are held up as if they're just incredibly hard workers, photoshopped movie stars held up as if they're just incredibly beautiful. We feel guilty for not being something that never has and can never exist.
Stole this from somewhere but i think it’s appropriate

aroace grace and queerplatonic gracerocky are so important to me because like. they're soulmates. they're best friends. they love each other. they're not in love. they are ready to die for each other. they enjoy spending time together. phm genuinely feels like a breath of fresh air because the modern world is so focused on romance that as an aro I sometimes feel lost. but this movie reminded me that it is more than okay to not love anyone romantically and still love your friends and have a good life because life does not have to revolve around romance.

I am running a marathon with a twisted ankle and it hurts but some pain is normal, right? Everyone says it's supposed to be hard. It is a marathon after all. I am running a marathon with a twisted ankle but honestly it could be worse, right? I heard someone once finished with a broken leg. The ankle is nothing compared to that. I am running a marathon with a twisted ankle but you can get used to pain, right? The body can endure almost anything. The problem is always the mind. I am running a marathon with a twisted ankle but I made it this far, that means I can keep going, right? Everyone says it's supposed to be hard. It is a marathon after all.

Many such cases
Project Hail Mary is a fantastic example of how filmmakers can create a faithful adaptation and still take artistic liberties. The writers didn't try to copy the book to a tee, and added their own elements (the mental health room, the astrophage transition, the beach scene on erid, Grace's wardrobe etc). They understood that a film is a different artistic medium than a book and tried to write the story in a way that best suited that medium, all while staying loyal to the original story and themes. Just like the book, the film showed us how two living creatures formed a friendship in such unlikely circumstances and had so much faith in humanity.
please do not look up to me. I am 1 inch tall. I'm down here. if you look up you won't see me

I think Tumblr in general would appreciate the newest back-of-bus advertising campaign in Wellington, Aotearoa New Zealand
So-called "free thinkers" when a bus is traveling between Strathmore Park and Newtown:
Animals: a guide
One side has monkeys and tigers and elephants and capybaras, the other? Squirrels and deer
I forgot Bison and Sea Otters
Have you seen a moose, megafauna are cool.
I DO NOT!!!
I am sorry
I live in the US and one of the things that really reframed the way I think about animals was when someone I knew in Brazil posted a picture of a marmoset hanging out outside their window and I realized that monkeys were to them what squirrels are to me. Recently a friend in Hungary sent a picture they took at the zoo of a raccoon and it was like my worldview was being shifted all over again because what was to me the mildly annoying, somewhat cute, critter that makes weird noises behind my house at night was a wonder to someone else. They have little hands and bandit masks. They wash their little hands. How is that NOT a wonder? All animals are cool I’m just used to raccoons.
admittedly i know little of the subject but one would think, at 45 years of age, he would be a ryan goose by now
