Why is it referred to as coming out of the closet?Ā
It could be coming out of anything. What wasted potential.

IDGAF if the women in my fiction are empowering or aspirational, I'm an adult, I don't need role models, I want the women in my fiction to be interesting, and if that involves being pathetic, hypocritical, amoral, or trapped in a delightfully dysfunctional relationship so be it
#'this is so illegal/toxic/unhealthy'#yeah bestie thats why im reading about it instead of doing it
honestly the discourse on this site is so bad that I have a new hot take: if you use tumblr at all fuck you
Checked their account: turns out op is a fucking tumblr user themselves so????? Idk :/

worst part of anxiety/ocd is that sometimes your fears actually do happen and you have to wag your finger at i like this still doesn't prove you're right asshole. it's like having a venom symbiote except you don't even get to have gay alien sex
everybody say thank you, fanfiction
no, i donāt watch that show, but i do follow its developments extensively via tumblr
christians: where does Jesus fit into your religion?
Jews just returning home after arguing all night that your spine becomes a snake seven years after your death BUT only if you forget to bow during the 18th blessing of the amidah: huh? He doesn't. That's a different religion. Anyway.
If youāre Christian and reading this and feeling touchy about the fact that we Jews are saying that you donāt meaningfully follow the same Bible that we do, hereās an excellent breakdown from a Christian perspective:
The key thing to notice when asking this question of white evangelicals in America is that they don't usually try to answer it. They don't r
Tl;dr: the Christian categories of āmoralā and āceremonialā law that are used to justify Christians invoking Leviticus while simultaneously following none of Leviticus are extra-textual, inconsistent, and clearly self-serving on their face.
āRules about my money and my property become optional. Rules about your genitals and your sexuality do not.ā
You do not follow ours laws. You do not consider yourselves to be bound by our sacred texts. We do not consider you to be bound by our sacred texts. Stop invoking them to further your agenda; they are irrelevant to your faith and to your behavior, both according to your own doctrine and according to ours.
also a little note about the jewish observance of levitical law: we have evolved substantially as a people and religion since the writing of Lev 18:22. we no longer have a priestly class and no longer sacrifice animals on yom kippur (the entire previous chapters of Leviticus are detailing these practices). the notion of christians invoking levitical law to justify homophobia is ludicrous because even Jews dont observe all levitical law the way its written (even tho Leviticus is still Very Important to modern Jewish life)
I mean. We do still have a Priestly class. We still have Kohanim and we still have Levi'im. That is very much still a thing. As far as I know, the Reform movement doesn't afford much special status to Kohanim (Reform Jews correct me if I'm wrong but that's what I've heard/read), but Orthodox and Conservative Judaism definitely still do.
The Kohanim still bless the congregation (in many communities in Israel, every day, and in the diaspora either every Shabbat or on Yom Tov depending on community tradition), the Levi'im still wash their hands. Every day that there is Torah reading, a Kohen (if present) still gets the first Aliyah, and a Levi (if present) still gets the second (or the first if there are no Kohanim present). Kohanim are still bound by the special laws of impurity and marriage. They can't come in contact with the dead (outside of immediate family) (and if I understand right this is still observed by Reform Judaism) and they still aren't supposed to marry divorcees or converts (I'm actually unclear on what Conservative Judaism's ruling on this one is, I've seen some fascinating responsa about it, but I haven't found a conclusive official ruling (I'm sure it's out there I just haven't found it), and this is something that definitely still gets debated in Orthodox Judaism even if overall mainstream norms haven't changed yet). Non-Kohanim and non-Levi'im still redeem their firstborn sons to a Kohen. Kohanim and Levi'im are still often given honours at weddings, feasts, and other life cycle events. There are still very much privileges and restrictions to Kohanim and Levi'im in contemporary Judaism.
It's true that we don't have a Temple and we don't have animal, incense, or produce offerings there anymore (although Terumah and Maaser still must be taken by produce grown in the land of Israel, Challah must still be taken, (although anything designated for a Kohen is instead disposed of rather than given to them in a post-Temple world) Shmita is still observed by observant Jews around the world), and Kohanim and Levi'im are allowed to own (in as much as "ownership" is a social construct, where private land ownership is much different on a governmental level and anyway most private ownership isn't permanent) land in Israel. But we still recognize the classes of Kohanim and Levi'im and they are still treated, at least in some capacities, as distinct and sacred classes. We still recognize the lineage of Kohanim and Levi'im.
We absolutely have changed as a people, but there are plenty of Jews who still consider themselves bound by the Halachot of Leviticus. Yes, we don't do animal offerings on Yom Kippur (or any day of the year) but that's because we don't have a Temple, it would be impossible to do so. But just because some Jews don't do something, doesn't mean that it's universal. There are still plenty of Jews that try to observe all the laws of the Torah to the best of their abilities except for the ones that require a Temple. But plenty of Mitzvot don't require a Temple.
I understand what you're trying to say in terms of LGBTQ acceptance but that argument is moot when there are absolutely Jews who do still do these things, including LGBTQ Jews. Hi, hello, I'm one of them, I'm queer and I consider myself Orthodox, and I go to an Orthodox synagogue where I am not ostracized or treated as anything lesser. There are absolutely ways to include and affirm LGBTQ Jews without throwing out the entirety of the book of Leviticus or indeed all of Halacha or disparaging Jews who still follow it.
It's a dick move when Orthodox Jews act like they're the sole inheritors of Judaism, but it's just as bad when Reform Jews do it as well. Reform Judaism isn't the "final form" of Judaism, and neither is Orthodox Judaism. Orthodox Jews aren't archaic, less-evolved Jews.
You know who believe that Jews are archaic and less-evolved? Supersessionist Christians. Let's not act like that about any fellow Jews.
āyou cannot ship these two fictional characters becauseāā actually I can because they are not real people. they are just toys I play with. you cannot apply real-world morality to fiction or how strangers play with their imaginary toys in their imaginary sandboxes.
you can, however, curate your own internet experience by minding your own business, muting/blocking/scrolling past what upsets you but does not hurt anyone in real life in any way, shape or form.
āship whatever you want except xyz. there is a limitā so you miss the entire point of what I just said šš»
there is, in fact, no limit. I may be uncomfortable with it, I may even find it unpleasant/disturbing, but my personal feelings are not rules that can be applied to other people, and they absolutely do not justify shaming or harassing other people.
"We accept all countries of origin! Besides Israel. Not because we're anti-semitic, but because we're stereotyping people who were born in or migrated to Judaea in order to escape anti-semitism as war criminals and terrorists. No, again, we're not anti-semitic, we hate Nazis. Like Netenyahu."

accidentally said "invasive thoughts" instead of "intrusive thoughts" today and actually I think I'm onto something. this thought does not belong here and it is harming the local ecosystem
life could be so much easier if i could oscillate between a pussy and a dick at will but im sure many people feel this way
