you should have an adblocker on your laptop obviously but you should have one on your phone as well. i personally have adaway installed via f-droid
a lot of pop-ups are actively trying to harvest data from you or to negatively impact your experience and you don't deserve it, you defo don't OWE it
"weh weh ads are how we make money, pls don't use your adblocker" is another way of saying "we make your experience as uncomfortable, painful, or actively harmful to your device as we can to extort money from you"
as an online creator, i can tell you, there's way more ways to make money than ads
and even if you want to sell ads, you don't have to host ads that are unethical. creators don't HAVE to take money from betterhelp or whatever professional malware outfit is trying to show you AI translated visual novels and fake phone games
install the adblocker. be at peace.

and while we’re at it, fuck this idea that ONE ACCOUNT has to belong uniquely to ONE PERSON. This is the same thing these silicon valley fucks want; their vision of the future where everyone has a unique biometric ID code implanted in their body is the ultimate extension of Netflix’s “no password sharing” policy. You want to use your friend’s car? Sorry, you can’t, you need to be an authorized user. Your mother wants to let you look something up on her OED account? Too bad! That’s only for her! The concept of perfect market efficiency gives them greedy little money bag eyes.
If I pay money to have a newspaper sent to my house, they don’t charge me extra when I show it to my dad. This password sharing thing isn’t just a Netflix problem; don’t be surprised if it shows up elsewhere in other forms. Stamp this idea out now or we’ll be stuck with it.
This is by far the most popular post I have and I have to say: good, I’m right. Password sharing and ID verification are going to kill the internet. not oooh in 50 years. in like 5 more.

Hi guys! I thought I should just share my whole mini little library of Project Hail Mary-related things so they're all in one place:
It includes:
A digital copy of the movie (with subtitles in 30+ languages via download)
My transcript of the movie (more on that here)
Audio recordings of the movie
A PDF of the book
An EPUB of the book (for e-readers)
The full audiobook
A copy of Andy Weir's doc on Eridians
A copy of Andy Weir's spreadsheet on Astrophage physics (among many other things!)
A draft of the screenplay for the film from 2022
An audio recording of the director's commentary
My transcript of the director's commentary
There is also a UHD copy (that's too big to fit in the drive) here!:
Securely store, share, and access your important files and photos. Anytime, anywhere.
Please note that because of the way that google drive works, some of the subtitles only work if you download the file yourself.
The audiobook, audio recordings, and commentary all have their properties programmed so they (should) work just like songs with a track number, album cover, artist, and so on if you download them.
There are two audios of the movie, one is the entire film untouched and one is that same audio cut up and broken down into separate scenes for convenience.
Additionally, there are two versions of the movie transcript, one with time stamps that match the audio recording and one without. The time stamps (+ their titles from the audio) are outlined in that version, so if you double-click on that tab or click "show outline," they'll all show up and you can pick a specific scene.
Similiarly, there are two different versions of the director's commentary transcript. The first is made to listen along to the commentary, while the second is more intended to be read on its own. The first is a direct transcription of everything that's said (an attempt, at least), while the second is slightly cleaned up for easier reading, meaning things like jumbled sentences and stuttering were removed or reorganised, but nothing has been actually paraphrased. Both are broken down into different scenes based on how their conversation goes, and the listening version includes timestamps.
The first few seconds of the commentary are missing unfortunately as my US friend who was kind enough to record it for me had some technical difficulties at the start, but the she paraphrased the part that was missed. The commentary starts at that first red shot of Ryland Grace's face in the coma suit 32 seconds into the digital copy.
There's also a google doc with some instructions to follow if any of the files aren't working, which usually happens when too many people try to access or download something at the same time.
As always, if anything's not working right or you notice any mistakes in anything, please let me know and I'll fix it as soon as I can!
I needed to make a compilation of all the fox imagery in PHM. Maybe I'll come back with some more commentary on this, but I hadn't seen anything about this yet, and I just needed it to happen!
Haven't seen the movie yet, but i have reread the book... several times... hence doodles
Second one was essentially my reaction to the trailer - was a bit miffed about the design at first but then it immediately turned into "holy shit two rocks!", I love this little freak scrap engineer also. I hope he calls Grace a fucking idiot (affectionate) just as much as book!rocky does.
Also they should have given Ryan Gosling chemical burns
it's so easy to do things! it's so easy to get up and do things and get things done! i am capable and motivated and executive dysfunction can't touch me. *starting to cry a little because my affirmations aren't working* it's so easy to do things, come on get up, it's easy, let's do things *mental image of a cartoon trying to move a heavy lazy animal* come onnnnn
IT'S SO EASY TO DO THINGS! IT'S SO EASY TO GET THINGS DONE!!!!
