Every time I get groceries I’m always appalled at how little you can get for like, $20. I was making banana pudding so I needed vanilla wafers but the brand name nilla wafers cost $4 a box. The minimum wage in my state is $7.25/hr. My friend put it really well when he said “imagine you work for an hour and someone hands you two boxes of nilla wafers and said ‘actually this is a bit more than what I owe you’”

How are some of y’all missing the point so bad. “Shop at aldi instead” “make your own food” “don’t buy brand name” “don’t buy unhealthy processed food” It’s not about the box of cookies. This is about how minimum wage pays peanuts and has stagnated for 12 years while the cost of living keeps growing. No one wants your financial advice about how to survive on beans and rice and frozen veggies. The smartest grocery list in the world is not gonna help you budget your way out of poverty. also for context of the thread that entire band including their management did not stand up for zayn when he voiced support for palestine during the 2014 attacks. harry styles going out of his way to hold the israel hammer on stage in the same year while never standing up for zayn definitely fueled the racist harassment zayn received. maybe him holding the hammer was just a coincidence maybe it wasn’t but white one direction fans definitely used it as an okay to harass zayn and none of the other dudes ever condemning it, even in a lukewarm way, was an active choice they all made in 2014

believe what you wanna believe based on the tweet thread but all of them owe zayn apologies for not defending him once and harry styles as someone who has built a career off of being progressive definitely deserves some flack for it

also just to mention i remember when harry styles ignored the black lives matter flags and signs fans tossed him on stage during his concerts in 2017 three separate times while always going out of his way to hold up rainbow flags at every show. and only after he was criticized for it displayed a black lives matter sticker on his guitar.

i think that for a species that come into the world naked and have such an easy time understanding sex, its ironic that the world at large cant accept that intimacy cant occur outside of sexual desire. there is intimacy in a shared bath between a mother and her child. between brothers sharing a bed. between friends changing in the same room.

Indigenous Australians have had stories about giant kangaroos and wombats for thousands of years, and European settlers just kinda assumed they were myths. Cut to more recently when evidence of megafauna was discovered, giant versions of Australian animals that died out 41 000 years ago.
