Seriously anyone engaging with age verification bill discourse in terms of whether or not you think age restricting content is good or bad are completely missing the point.

These bills have nothing to do with keeping young people from doing certain things or protecting the children or whatever. Their point is and always has been one thing: If your operating system knows who you are it is impossible to have any real form of privacy on the computer.

I worked with a guy once that confessed to me to no longer be able to stay in the room while the lab centrifuge is running (any centrifuge will do), because in his earlier lab-assistant years he was tasked with a lot of sample processing and would watch porn on his (personal) laptop while he was waiting for the machine to be done round after round (night-time lab so no-one there to judge, and just watching in the lab no ehm action done - he's a professional after all) and his brain is now hard-wired to get an automatic boner at the sound of an active centrifuge.

so. i just learned that my entirely me-written resume flags as being AI-written by automated HR systems for a few writing quirks and the fact that i followed all the rules of good resume writing, which is apparently a telltale sign of AI use in this fucking hellworld. i've been desperately applying to jobs that i am massively overqualified for for months with no response, not even an interview, and now i find out that at least part of the reason is because some fucking moron decided that following the rules every career advisor has given me for a decade means i cheated and should be disqualified. the ai bubble cannot pop soon enough. what the actual fuck.
