"[Y]our Harry Potter games are Cybertrucks" is such a good way to put it.
Im gonna be so real can yall actually talk about ways we can support trans women in the UK instead of giving all the attention to fucking JKR. I already know that Harry Poter sucks, I wanna know how to actually HELP people. Something something you have to love the oppressed more than you hate the oppressor
trans actual uk - trans led and run advocacy, education and empowerment organisation
fiveforfive - collective fund for trans women and girls and transfem causes
gendered intelligence - trans led advocacy org
mermaids - supports trans youth
akt - lgbtq youth homelessness charity
loving me - domestic abuse service for trans people in england
not a phase - for trans adults
Here's some from Wales
Trans Aid Cymru - supporting trans people in wales
Queer Emporium - hub of queer businesses and events
And ones who operate in Wales but also across the UK
TIN Wadrobe - supplying clothes for trans and gnc people
G(end)er Swap - resources and events for trans style and gender expression
Adding some from Scotland I have experience with and afaik take donations, some are broader but with good trans inclusion:
Scottish Trans - Trans advocacy, information and social events. Run by the Equality Network, a broader Scottish LGBTQI advocacy group.
LEAP Sports Scotland - Sports charity that advocates for queer inclusion in sports, runs trans sports groups (Trans Active) in at least Glasgow and Edinburgh that I can absolutely recommend.
LGBT Health & Wellbeing - Not trans specific but includes trans specific, trans led and trans inclusive support and social events, and supports a variety of smaller community-run subgroups.
And another couple UK-wide:
Gender Identity Research & Education Society - Trans led charity supporting research on trans matters and education/training on trans inclusion. Does consultancy for public and private sector organisations.
Trans Kids Deserve Better - Trans advocacy and activist group led by and for trans kids. They do good work.
Last year JK Rowling personally funded a group called Sex Matters to amend UK law so that trans women *overnight* went from legally women to legally men. This has resulted in mass exclusion of the trans community from numerous organizations, along with ongoing violent assaults on both trans and cis women alike.
With the new Harry Potter series she will be making a reported $20 million per-season renewal + other performance dependent royalties. She has been open across multiple interviews regarding her intentions to use said funds to push forth even more trans targeted legislation in the years to come.
This isn’t a “she gets paid no matter what” situation. The more eyeballs on this show the more money she has to actively harm vulnerable communities. By engaging with it you are directly supporting this and otherwise making a conscious choice to consume HP over doing the literal very least possible to not destroy the lives of trans people across the world.
If my stating the objective facts above upsets you then feel free to unfriend and move along. Your nostalgia-goggles feelings for a tired, problematic franchise mean nothing to me compared to the welfare of my trans friends and loved ones."
If you care more about badly written children's books and imaginary wizards more than you do about real people in the real world do it far the fuck away from me.
Don't try to be in my life.
In fact, you are cordially invited to eat shit and die.
unfollowed someone for announcing "we will be pirating!" regarding the new harry potter hbo show, because no we won't be. even if you don't support that hag financially, i can't have a harry potter fan in my circles. fucks up my chakras.
if you put the new harry potter show on my dash in any way it's gonna be an automatic unfollow from me, guys. like. it's 2026. come the fuck on
People still tend to lump JK Rowling in with the category of ~problematic artists~ and I need everyone to understand that is not the problem with her. She is not comparable to anyone who wrote a piece of fiction you hate, or someone who made rude comments in 2015 and has since learned better.
She is far more like Elon Musk. She is a radicalized person with an extreme amount of social and financial power, and for YEARS she has been using that power to try to influence her government into hurting vulnerable people, on purpose. And she has succeeded. THAT is the problem with her, and THAT is why spending money on her books is so dangerous, not because her books aged badly.
Critiquing her work is fine, of course (I personally was never a fan so I really don’t care) but you NEED to understand that fiction is not the main issue here. And I truly think acting like she’s the same as the rest of any giant list of ~problematic creators of the week~ waters down how dangerous she is.
i have to reblog this again because i go insane when people act like the problem with her is "its cringe for adults to like kids media" or like "the books sucked anyways" like those are completely irrelevant and try to shift the blame and focus from the active harm. even the fact the books also have bioessentialism and antisemitism is a whole different conversation
i straight up do not respect your media opinions if you can't let harry potter go
Truely the bar is on the ground. No one is asking you to rewrite history and pretend you never liked it. Just stop giving that hateful woman money.
"jk rowling invited Jeffrey Epstein to dinner in 2018, which was 10 years after his first conviction for pedophilia" sounds like something a hater would make up on Twitter but it's real. and it just dropped in the latest files release. wild

The new Audible Harry Potter series is bad in uncomplicated, straightforward ways.
It is bad because it supports a woman who is actively funding groups that are seeking to deprive trans people of their rights in the UK and especially Scotland, where I live, where people inside the government are quietly remarking that they are struggling to fight against the groups she funds, as she has more money than God. Any money made from this new audio adaptation goes directly to funding these groups and these cases.
It is also bad because commissioning such an expansive series with such a well-known cast (Riz Ahmed?! Come on man) has eaten up the majority of Audible's commissioning budget. In the UK, the only people commissioning audio drama are the BBC (separate conversation) and Audible, and this new Harry Potter series has hoovered up resources that could have otherwise gone to new stories, new voices and money to creators that aren't actively trying to erase trans people.
I am angry at anyone who signed up to star in this, I am angry at the production companies that took on this commission, I am angry that this series continues to have a stranglehold on the UK media landscape despite all that its creator has done.
It is bad for trans people, it is bad for audio drama, it is bad for anyone working in media in the UK right now.
Do not listen to it
Yeah I think that the conversation about how bad this has been for audio drama in specific is something that people don't realise, and that *also* harms trans people and other marginalised people trying to make art. At the moment, it's difficult to make a career in the arts whatever medium you're trying to work in, especially if any parts of your identity are marginalised. Audio drama in its current iteration is such a young industry with so few funding streams that to see one almost completely disappear up the arse of a project it seems nobody was really asking for is really frustrating.
Hell hath no fury like a Disney Adult scorned.
I know Starcruiser super fans who are boycotting Disney over this. STARCRUISER FANS. Do you know that crowd? Disney REALLY fucked up.
incredible to discover that disney adults have more of a spine than fucking potter adults but i'm here for it
Terry was once the biggest “Disney adult,” she said. Terry is a Las Vegas cake decorator who customizes Mickey Mouse ears to fund her Disney theme park vacations, and has made the global entertainment brand part of her marriage. “My wedding was a Disney cruise wedding. I have four tattoos, they are all Disney. My wedding ring has Mickey Mouse on it,” said Terry, who asked not to share her full name for privacy. “There is not a single room, including the bathroom, that does not include Disney in some way, shape or form.“
...Terry said Disney’s response to Carr’s involvement was why she canceled her Disney+ online subscription. “It was Disney obeying in advance,” she said. “Disney is so big and so powerful and has so much money, they’re one of the only people that can fight this. And they didn’t. They chose not to. That says a lot.”
Despite Kimmel’s reinstatement and her love for Disney’s shows and parks, Terry still won’t pay to support Disney just yet. “It’s not about Kimmel, it’s about the actions that were taken because of Kimmel,” she said.
The Disney boycott was definitely different. Experts reveal the secrets to why it worked.
Harry Potter adults get on Terry's level.
Also, some good info in the article:
For a boycott to be successful, there also needs to be a specific action the targeted company can take to lift it, Pauwels said. Unlike the one-day “economic blackout” to avoid nonessential shopping from earlier this year, “the demand was specific and feasible for Disney to execute: put Jimmy Kimmel back on air,” Pauwels explained. “That does not mean it was easy to decide, but at least it gave the impression that doing so would alleviate the damage.”
So many people try to do boycotts without understanding the basics of how they work, and then blame "apathy" when the boycott fails.
Okay for the JKR stuff, the hard part is processing. It took me two years to do the breakup. I didn’t buy official merch and still haven’t, but maybe if the HP fans could process, there wouldn’t be this issue.
To properly break up with JKR and boycott, the adults still in that zone need to find or make a space where they can have those honest convos. Many of us openly talk about how we love Disney’s creations but not the people running it. So that’s either to not buy
Im gonna be so real can yall actually talk about ways we can support trans women in the UK instead of giving all the attention to fucking JKR. Hey, is there something like a non-binary collective in Yorkshire? That's accessible and covid-safe? That would help.
the day rowling croaks is an official trans holiday and we all need to be there to celebrate together. do not let that dickhead outlive you
I waited 33 years for Reagan to die, and 52 for Kissinger. You’ve got this.
Pull through out of spite. If nothing else, outlive them. Outlive as many as you can.
every day british actors wake up and think to themselves fuckkkkk i HAVE to help the incredibly bigoted woman make more money so she can funnel it into killing trans people i have to do it bro if i don't do it i will die
In case y'all needed proof that continuing to engage with HP and fucking over trans folks is in fact a CHOICE, Daniel Radcliffe has refused to even have a cameo, despite being repeatedly asked.
For those that don't speak British, this is about as close as he can get to officially, publicly saying, "for FUCK'S sake, get that thing away from me and stop associating me with it, I do not want my name attached to that bigotry."
Daniel consistently redirects the topic away from Jo and toward the Trevor Project, an organization he has been heavily involved with for almost 20 years. He puts his money where his mouth is and uses his platform and his reach to amplify queer voices and queer struggles. He explicitly supports trans people, and is choosing to walk away from a very large and very easy paycheck, because he values trans lives over anything he could get from HP.
Emma and Rupert also won't go near this reboot. Jo has stated the reason she's doing it is BECAUSE the three of them refuse to support her vile hatred.
Every actor who puts their name on this, on any level, deserves to own the choice they're making with their whole chest. If they decide the paycheck is worth being ten toes down on transphobia? They're adults. They chose. And they deserve to be treated accordingly. Actions speak louder than words.
And if you give it a moment of attention or a single penny, you deserve to face the consequences of that choice too.
daniel radcliffe calling out j.k. rowling on her bullshit is big dick energy
One thing I have not seen mentioned in light of this statement, perhaps because it's just well known or perhaps because it's been forgotten, is that Radcliffe has dealt with this before. About 10 years ago his friendship with a trans musician named Our Lady J became known to the tabloids. They immediately published sensational articles calling her a transvestite and a drag queen (she was not), and speculating about the nature of their relationship. He responded to insinuating questions by simply being aggressively positive about what a great musician and good friend she was. They did at least one interview together for a queer magazine. This at a time when trans people were even more marginalized than now, and when he as an actor was finishing Harry Potter and under a lot of pressure to ~manage his image~ as he transitioned to an adult career.
TL;DR - Radcliffe has a record of not just saying nice things, but supporting trans people in his life.
huh so all the posts yelling at people for still doing harry potter fandom in 2025 were being angry at real people who actually exist. I had kind of assumed it was a cathartic pulping of a dead horse thing.
