I mean you meet these young people trapped in their classrooms or nuclear families in paved over neighborhoods, you are going to see them at the lowest points of forced routine, atomization, gutted autonomy, academic stress, you are going to see them at their worst. you’re going to see addictive behavior. bad social skills. lashing out. uncreativity. laziness and distraction. they do look totally cooked.

I do outdoor education work, and within minutes of any elementary to middle schooler getting free permission to mess around with their friends in a clearing, they’re curious and driven again. they’re asking each other questions and yeeting pinecones at trees (science) and using their bodies. sometimes for evil. as is developmentally right. they want to know the names of birds! they want to teach someone pokemon! they want to build stuff and kick stuff and tackle each other and you into the snow!

they’re basically fucking institutionalized for 90% of their lives but their spirits are alive. you need to take them into the woods you need to treat them like animals with powerful inner lives and they’ll show you they are.

and you, if you feel like you’re relating too much, remember that you can also take YOURSELF to the woods

It's an embarrassing story, but I'll share.

So I used to be black, but then I was working at this company with this really bad CEO who was just named CEO. He was also an alpha male, and I'm a beta, so idrc about that shit. But anyways, this one omega chick named Y/N joined, and the CEO became OBSESSED with her. I tried to steer clear of Y/N bcuz she seemed pretty annoying, and whatever she had going on with my boss was NOT my business.

But, one day, I was sitting at my cubicle, and I hear Y/N tell the CEO how she's scared of the dark, and I was just thinking, "yeah, that's a common fear!" But then I look up at the CEO and he's CHARGING at me at full speed, and then he just STEALS AWAY MY BLACKNESS??? Istg, my skin turned like 3 shades darker, and I was just like, "?!?!"

So, yeah. That's why I look white. I'd ask for my skin color back, but that CEO is aggressive as shit and I'm pretty sure he has a few murders on his hands. I like living and I don't wanna be fired, so I'm not even gonna bother trying to get it back.

💔 My Mother’s Life Depends on Your Kindness

My mother is in Gaza, where every day is a struggle to survive. Some time ago, she was injured when shrapnel from nearby shelling struck her back. She tried to endure the pain for as long as she could, but her condition has become much worse.

Today, my mother is in critical condition. She suffers from unbearable back pain, extreme exhaustion, and her suffering is increasing with every passing day.

After examining her, the doctors told us that she urgently needs emergency back surgery. They warned us that delaying the operation could lead to serious complications and further deterioration of her condition.

The cost of this life-saving surgery is $1,000.

Thanks to the kindness of generous people, we have managed to raise only $188 so far. While we are deeply grateful for every donation, we still need $812 to reach the goal.

For my family, trapped in the devastating conditions in Gaza, raising this amount alone is simply impossible. Every day we wait means more pain for my mother and more fear that her condition will become irreversible.

I don’t know how many more times I can come here and ask for help. Every post I write comes with tears, because my mother’s life is all I can think about.

Yesterday, her condition became much worse , I can’t stop replaying those terrifying moments in my mind. Standing beside her hospital bed, watching her struggle, feeling completely powerless… it’s a pain I can’t put into words. The doctors told us she urgently needs this heart procedure, but we’re still waiting because we don’t have the money.😔

We’re only $600 away from the urgent heart procedure she needs. Such a small number to some people, yet for us it feels like the distance between hope and despair.💔
