Pyrrha, looking for Jaune: Jaune? Jaune, are you up here?
While looking, she hears soft crying from the rooftop they train on.
Pyrrha, rounding the corner to see Jaune sat on the roof, crying: Jaune! Hey, hey, it’s okay. What’s wrong, sweetie?
Jaune, looking up and wiping his eyes: It’s not-sniff-nothing! I wa-wasn’t crying.
Pyrrha, not buying his bullshit: Jaune, my love, it’s okay to cry. There is no shame in-
Cardin from the doorway: Hey, Jauney boy! What’re we crying about today? You skin your knee? Aww! HAHAHA!
Jaune, lip trembling as he blew out a shaky breath: I-I’m not cr-
Pyrrha kisses his cheek softly, standing up and straightening out her sash - all business: Cardin, you understand it’s perfectly normal to cry, don’t you?
Cardin: Pfft, yeah if you’re a baby!
Pyrrha, crossing her arms: I see. So it’s unacceptable for a grown man to cry every once and a while?
Cardin, blinking at her: Well, duh! I’m a man, and men don’t cry-
Pyrrha: I see, is that you saying that, or maybe a rough father figure who drilled that into you at a young age?
Jaune, wiping his eyes: Oh no, she’s psychoanalysing him. He’s fucked.
Cardin: W-Well… maybe. Maybe I did grow up with a dad who ruled with an iron fist, so what? Made me strong.
Pyrrha: Did it, or did it make you build this “Strong” wall to keep those emotions hidden? Because Father told you it wasn’t okay to let out a little emotion from time to time. So maybe that is why you bully people, to make others hurt and reinforce that “Strong” wall, because otherwise it’ll break, and you’ll seem weak in front of this team of yours who hold you in such a high regard as their “Strong” leader. Is that about the size of it?
Jaune, sobbing on Pyrrha’s shoulder: So that’s why I come up here to cry sometimes, because I dunno what to do, and I don’t think I’m good enough, and I don’t know how to tell you that, because I’m scared that you’ll think I’m weak and won’t love me anymore!
Pyrrha: Aww, sweetie, don’t ever think like that. I would think no less of you if you needed to cry, okay? If anything I’d be even prouder of you than I am right now, because you’d be willing to show me a side of yourself that you hide away. I’d love you more for it. Kisses his cheek, wiping the tears away.
Cardin, crying on her other shoulder: Fuck you’re a lucky guy, Arc!
And always remember that guys - and gals. That it is perfectly okay to cry. It has nothing to do with being a “Man” or “Grown up” Crying is healthy. It’s a release. Never ever be afraid to cry. A true man cries.
