Casa Pinoy is a small restaurant located in Karama wasl hub, serving Filipino, Japanese and Chinese cuisine. They have a wide menu with over 200 dishes!!
This place has an outdoor seating only, with good air conditioning to keep away from the Dubai heat which wasn’t too bad as we lunched at 1 pm.
For drinks, we had the in-house iced tea served with sugar syrup at the side. The lemon flavor is light and has a subtle taste to it.
From the Japanese menu, we ordered the Lava Maki, Veg Casa roll, and Salmon Sashimi. We liked the Lava as it tasted very fresh and the wasabi was amazing. The veg Casa roll tasted just fine but felt very dry to digest. It would be nice if this was served with a sauce. We were extremely unhappy with the salmon sashimi as it was not served with the soya sauce and that made it taste very bland.
Next, we tried the seafood platter. A couple of dishes were not available but the seafood platter which was served to us was delicious. It did not have the strong fish smell. The platter consisted of garlic prawns, sweet and spicy mussels, butter lemon oysters and everything was yum! The seafood platter is a must try and it’s worth your money. This couldn’t get healthier.
From the Filipino menu we ordered a lot of dishes explained by Gilbert to us named Inihaw Na Pak Pak Ng Manok (chicken wings), Broccoli De Carne, Dinakdakan, Arroz Frito Especial, Lumpiang Sariwa, Palitos De Queso, Hot and Sour Soup, Tofu Salad, Casa Pinoy Special Fried Rice and Chicken Noodles. So out of these dishes, four were not served to us as the ingredients were not available due to the heavy crowd the previous day as mentioned by Gilbert.
The hot and sour soup is something we did not like as it had a strong essence of fish oil. The special fried rice was nice and the quantity was huge. The chicken noodles weren’t our favorite. Broccoli De Carne didn’t have broccoli in it as it was out of stock but the beef in here was well cooked. It was a little too salty for us. We felt the grilled chicken wings lacked flavor.
This is a great place for Filipinos to enjoy a budget-friendly meal. The flavors were nice but not something which every palate would want to have on a daily basis. For a Filipinos palate it would be sure yum but this wouldn’t satisfy Indian palate even though we love Japanese food ourselves.
This is a super budget friendly place too and keeping in mind the quantity is huge you’ll get full value for your money.
FUN FACT – Over 200 dishes + catering available
Verdict – FILIPINOS MUST VISIT
