WTF are those obelisks on the right?β¦
Tasty obelisk fries..
βItβs digestibleβ has got to be the laziest goal Iβve ever seen achieved by a food product.
βItβs digestibleβ
βItβs digestibleβ is pertinent!! Okay, for those of you who havenβt researched Crisco for writing fic about gay sex in the mid-late 60s:
The first-edition ofΒ The Joy of Gay Sex, published in 1977, declared, βVegetable shortening may be the best lubricant, since it is not only greasy but also digestibleβ[4]Β Such a statement perhaps gives new meaning to the companies boastful declarations that βIts digestibleβ and βCrisco has been making life in the kitchen more delicious for years.βΒ Similarly, in the 1978 sex manualΒ The Advocate Guide to Gay Health, Crisco even earned an entry in the bookβs index.Β Discussions of the shorteningβs use as an anal lubricant indicate its popularity, with statements such as: βThe lubricant, typically the cultic Crisco, must be copious.β[5]Β In fact, Crisco was so synonomus with gay sex that discos and bars around the world took on the name, such as Crisco Disco in New York City, which was one of the premiere clubs during the 1970s and early 1980s.Β Other clubs or bathhouses, such as Club Z in Seattle, even featured murals with Crisco.Β Thus, Crisco was conversely also one of many things that led to the formation of gay identities during the 20thΒ century.

The more you know! :D
I have learned a new thing today.
Love this post for so many reasons but most especially because this is from all the way back in 2012 and and yet not a single blog in this thread is deactivated
I enjoy that not only does this have a link to an actual source, but the link still fucking works.
but @rhea314 you didnt include a picture of the crisco disco! AND MY GOD THE DJ BOOTH WAS A GIANT CRISCO CAN!
Go dance and get fisted. Fucking iconic.
Love the gay history, but i just wanna correct that the βitβs digestibleβ in the gay stuff was a reference to criscoβs tagline it had been using since 1911, the actual meaning of its digestible is because itβs main competition came from βenhancedβ lards which were rendered pig fat mixed with non food thickeners that literally did not digest and caused people to basically just shit out pig cream, since crisco was veggie based the body digested it along with the food
And in case you were still wondering, @mudwerks.. Tuna Croquettes
This post is the opposite of net zero information. Not only did I learn several new facts about gay history but also we rounded our way back to the original question of the tag line and the mini obelisks.
Itβs a net profit of information. 12/10 post
The first simulated image of a black hole was calculated with an IBM 7040 computer using 1960 punch cards and hand-plotted by French astrophysicist Jean-Pierre Luminet in 1978.
the romance of hand-plotting. this guy looked at the numbers and drew each of those dots manually, and the image emerged. we can only imagine how he felt
I am wildly more obsessed with this than I expected to be
I feel so privileged to have experienced a comprehensive-enough education on gravity and optics as a child that the first time I saw this sort of representation of a black hole I knew what I was looking at and why it looked like that, and felt a bit foolish for not already having realized theyβd look like that.

itβs okayΒ to have clumsy and awkward sex and itβs actually really common
the ability to laugh while youβre lying tangled and naked together bc you realize just how silly something is is really really intimate and trusting, and itβs the best feeling to be like that with someone and to be relaxed
it happens with long-term partners, it happens on hookups, and itβs rarely as bad as itβs always made out to be, except we usually think itβs bad we'reΒ told thatβs not how sex is supposed to go. but thatβs not true.Β
it can still be passionate and intimate while being messy and clumsy, absolutely. you donβt need toΒ βperform well.β sex isnβt a show: itβs about feeling good. sometimes it takes experimenting to figure out what feels good, and fumbles and awkward moments and laughter is all just part of it. sometimes thatβs a huge part of the fun.
Send me to Mars with party supplies before next august 5th
No guys you donβt understand.
The soil testing equipment on Curiosity makes a buzzing noise and the pitch of the noise changes depending on what part of an experiment Curiosity is performing, this is the way Curiosity sings to itself.
So some of the finest minds currently alive decided to take incredibly expensive important scientific equipment and mess with it until they worked out how to move in just the right way to sing Happy Birthday, then someone made a cake on Curiosityβs birthday and took it into Mission control so that a room full of brilliant scientists and engineers could throw a birthday party for a non-autonomous robot 225 million kilometres away and listen to it sing the first ever song sung on Mars*, which was Happy Birthday.
This isnβt a sad story, this a happy story about the ridiculousness of humans and the way we love things. We built a little robot and called it Curiosity and flung it into the star to go and explore places we canβt get to because itβs name is in our nature and then just because we could, we taught it how to sing.
Thatβs not sad, thatβs awesome.
*this is different from the first song ever played on mars (Reach For The Stars by Will.I.Am) which happened the year before, singing is different from playing
This is humanity
Happy Birthday, Curiousity.
Happy birthday, Curiosity.
Happy birthday, Curiosity.
Happy birthday, Curiosity!
Happy birthday, Curiosity!π
Happy Birthday, Curiosity
The rover is still operational, and as of August 4, 2026, Curiosity has been active on Mars for 4974 sols (5111 total days; 13 years, 363 days) since its landing (see current status). Via Wikipedia
handing out flyers to transmascs about estradiol cream (can be used to keep your pussy wet and healthy but without triggering periods or having any feminizing effects) and transfemmes about Cialis (works even post-orchi)
and then telling both to start prep too
new blog same sexual health advocate. since making this post iβve switched from cialis to topical testosterone cream though.
If youβre transfemme and have POTS Cialis will also help your POTS more than any meds a cardio will prescribe you for it just FYI
Source: severe POTS while being a transfemme top lol
Iβm gonna come back here and transcribe some shit in a bit
Sorry the ADHD ADHDβd π
So a while back I asked Twitter/bsky βHey transfemmes (or anyone vaguely adjacent) whatβs a non-medical thing you wish someone had told you sooner in your transition that you know now?β And got the following answers:
-For Black transfemmes in particular - Everyoneβs care tends to be different, but for mine (between 3c/4a depending) I wash and detangle 1x/w with argan oil shampoo/conditioner and curly detangler brush, sleep in silk bonnet. Knowing roughly what hair type you have will help you find more care, find whatβs closest from the following, but you may be between!
-Buy a pumice stone for your feet bc moisturizer alone isnt enough
-Go to an esthetician and ask for your eyebrows βcleaned up a bitβ
-βMore companies make different undershades of orange concealers, incl pinkier ones, at all price points. They can be used for all pigmentation, dark eye circles, shadow from hair growth etc. Your horomonal chemistry changing means softer scents smell different w long wear now!β
-βIf you a newbie, neutral shimmer that matches your lids swiped up to your brows + light mascara brightens up the face w/out requiring a ton of skill/cashβ
-βUse Lotion! Using a mild college girl scent will be good for your confidence and will ensconce the impression of "busy girl"β
-βYou don't need as aggressive shampoo/conditioner/holding product. Trim your ends or your hair won't get longer. Cute hairpins + scrunchies are widely avail at walmart, daiso etc and can help pull together a casual look, and specialty designs can be found via Etsyβ
-βConsider buying even one simple hairband for keeping hair/bangs out of face even when hair is in the awkward short-long stage while you do stuff like clean. β
-If you have curly/coiled hair texture look for larger silk scrunchies as smaller ones tangle in our hair easier!!
-βlook, sad-lil babytrans asciicat, you'll never figure out how people have money to do all the things to be so pretty - don't even sweat it, just buy a bunch of cheap skater skirts and feel free to lose yourself in the joy of wearing them.β
-βGlasses help a lot to feminize the face. As always, there are exceptions but delicate round glasses help this. Take a lot of pics to find your favorite angles, raise your head and/or try not to slouch in your pics, posing and posture is everythingβ
-βone of my biggest self love discoveries: just take the damn selfie. even if you feel gross, just take it - you'll like it in a few weeks. also it's okay to have favorite parts of your body. take pics of it oftenβ
-βThat nothing more transformative for my self-image than just doing makeup/changing what kind of clothes I wear. First time I properly got to wear a dress in public, and later when I first did my own makeup, it really hit and stuck that I am a woman. And not a bad-looking one.β
-βif you not super confident with makeup, but want to start wearing it, it's ok to start small. try glosses. practicing simple eyelining. a dash of mascara. "less is more" is a great rule for makeup in general, and it's ok to take time to find a look that best suits your faceβ
-βSnug period undies usually have a wide gusset and extra layers of material, making them a good (and much cheaper) alternative to gaff undies for tuckingβ
-βAsk a fashionable friend with a sense of style you admire to go clothes shopping with you, to help you find items that fit your frame. Barring that, keep in mind that high waisted pants and dresses are typically a good place to startβ
-βpoise and posture and movement are a huge part of presentation and can be incredibly empowering but also really painfulβ
-β- eye cream. invest in the future
- non-comedogenic lotion (especially after shaving) for less ingrown hairs/happier skin
- eye makeup BEFORE foundation
- halter necklines are very kind to strong shoulder silhouettes
- crossover dresses have more play in fit than many optionsβ
-βAccept well meant advice, but never let anyone tell you what is and isn't 'ladylike'. Also, Venus razors with those thick moisturizing blocks are magic when it comes to shaving any part of your body.β
-βGlasses are huge. Go bold; folks are gonna notice you anyway, it might as well be for something you chose. Get a haircut, even if you're growing your hair out. Hairdressers are wizards, and the shaping can make you look more feminine even if your hair's still shorter.β
-βI am cis but I come to you from years in the large women's shoes trenches, that you do not suffer as I have: Nordstrom Rack. Watch the calendar for the Large Shoe Event they have like twice a year. Zappos and its outlet 6pm are also pretty good, and Rothy's has extended sizes. Toms and Madewell also go up to size 12. Toms is known for the simple canvas flats but they also have cute,high-quality leather sandals and booties!β
-βif something gives you gender euphoria, DO IT, and do it a lot! youβll quickly lose the initial rush of euphoria, but it will help you feel centered and whole. for me, nail polish and comfy dresses were super helpful for feeling feminine all the timeβ
-βcurly/coily-haired cuties most likely already know but sleeping with a bonnet has been a game changer. as a straight-haired girlie, it keeps my hair from tugging as i toss and turn in my sleep, from getting sweaty, and my scalp doesnt get sore like sleeping in a bun/pony doesβ
-βthe big ones for me:
1. you dont have to do makeup most days
2. you dont have to dress hyperfemme
3. washing your hair every day is not good
4. if you're confident enough, people wont question your genderβ
-βThis is so basic (and not directly trans related) but no-one ever told me to use body lotion as a kid. I distinctly remember asking friends how to deal with body acne, and I got tips for exfoliating, but I guess they just assumed I knew lotion was a thing alreadyβ
-βif a piece of costume jewelry or metal hardware in a piece of clothing doesnβt agree with your skin you can put a layer or two of clear nail polish top coat on the offending objectβ
-βif you're removing hair and hate shaving you may consider using an epilator. the idea is to not be lazy and use it often enough that you don't have to shave at allβ
I fully forgot I did this and seeing the days between my brb and my transcription took me tf out
I do suffer the american condition of liking to drink huge drinks
Lemme get a little sippy
saw this post & blacked out for 30 minutes & came back to awareness having had created this. the creative urge overtook me.
I don't think men saying out of pocket shit to me on the internet is because they're men. everyday billions of men wake up and don't say out of pocket shit to me on the internet. this is clearly an active choice
genuinely one of the scariest and saddest kinds of conversations that I find myself regularly having with various women is where they will describe something that a man in their life has done or said to them that is absolutely horrific and then when you express horror about it they are just like "haha well you know how men are"
girl that is not how men are. I have many men in my life who I care about and none of them are like that. that man is not biologically compelled to treat you like shit. it's a choice he is making. ARERRGH
some of you can't read so to be clear this post is not
1. saying "not all men" or
2. denying the existence and impact of societal misogyny/patriarchy.
HOPE THIS HELPS!
thaaaaank you that's such a concise explanation of what I was trying to say
tumblring for these 6 people always in my notifications
there was a great study a few years that went into the whole "ppl online are bigger jerks than irl cuz theres a virtual wall and no repercussions" and the researchers were expecting to see that be the case but it turns out that people who were really angry or argumentative online were also found to just be assholes in person and people who were pretty patient and nice online were found to be patient and nice in real person as well
and it just debunked that whole cynical idea that people will naturally be mean if theres no punishment for it
source another source
the researchers found that being online didnt make people more hostile, but that being online allowed already hostile people to dominate forum conversations, and the less aggressive people were much less likely to reply or engage, ending in just the aggressive people bickering at eachother
Thereby disproving Greater Internet Fuckwad Theory.
notice how everyones 30 now
whyyyyyy
Wasnβt this the toy that scared a kid real bad so they ran away screaming only since it follows sound it just chased this poor screaming kid all over the place?
yep thatβs the one
Emos & scene kids got this close to abolishing gender for real. I try not to think about it too much.
The idea of a popular teenage subculture where girl & boys pretty much all dress the same feels impossible now but for a while it was reality and it was beautiful.
